Great! Waiter was wonderful!
From arrival to departure it was such a wonderful experience. Lovely staff. Excellent menu. Can't wait to go back. Fun crowd, too!
Loud poor quality food overpriced. Will not return
An attractive crowd dining in a swanky Italian restaurant with a sexy bar. The wait staff are helpful and attentive. I ordered the Fiori di Zucca for starters and it was beautifully presented as well as savory. The main entree of Oxtail Risotto was delicious and rich in flavor. Their wine list has some gems but no depth. Looking forward to returning.
Great place, good service and yes the food it’s WORTH IT!
The food was good and fair price for Little Italy. They we’re busy for a Wednesday night. Which I’m always happy to see for restaurants. Unfortunately, the service was horrible. Our server took our orders and never saw her again at our table to we asked for the check. Couldn’t get refills on any drinks for the whole evening. She was too busy taking shots and drinks with the table next to us to even bother checking in on us.
Saw other reviews and yes, it’s very loud inside. Very close quarters plus music blasting.
Definitely better places to go in Little Italy for food and atmosphere.
We were seated outside in a high traffic area which was odd because we had a reservation and saw several people walk up and be seated in better locations.
Michael, our waiter, was attentive but got a bit snippy when questioned about the egg in the carbonara. Not sure what that was all about but the dish wasn't ordered.
There were 4 of us and we ordered different items. There is no dinner salad per se; so the smallest menu salad Rucci (sp?) ordered as well as a Caprese (sp?) salad. Both were wonderfully fresh with really great dressings. The Frutti De Mari pasta was excellent, plentiful fresh seafood, really good sauce to pasta ratio. Lobster Ravioli with a special, spicy red sauce was delicious. That is the good news!
The bad news was that the Bolognese was very disappointing, very little meat and very little bland sauce mixed in with what looked like Spaghetti-O's. The appetizer meatballs tasted like they had been frozen and the sauce was thin and lackluster (same as the Bolognese).
So half of the dishes ordered we would order again but the Bolognese and appetizer meatballs was not enjoyed.
Barbusa was recommended to us and we would recommended but it would be a qualified recommendation.
Great place. Crowded even on a weekday. Good food, service & ambience
Service was great! The appetizers where great but the main entrees where decent.
Love the restaurant but way too noisy. It was our favorite in Little Italy but now we will not go back. Could not hear the waiter when he spoke and could barely hear each other.
Met a couple from Washington dining next to us. Great atmosphere to meet new and interesting people.
With colleagues and a Birthday!
Been here countless times, was always one of our favorites so we were very unhappy to see the menu change and 2 of our favorite entrees no longer there. We asked if it was because of Covid shortages on products but our server just kept saying "don't shoot the messenger- and that the chef does not listen to the feed back servers get from customers". When we asked what replaced the awesome unique pasta dishes that are gone he said "mostly Americana Italian dishes" and pointed them out. He was correct- seemed like the same thing you could get at many of the restaurants in little Italy. We decided to try the only new dish that seemed different, forget the name but it was a creamed based sauce with sausage and pasta- not so great. We split that (but didn't really eat it) had our appie-finished our wine and went down the block to another restaurant to have dinner. Next time we try to go we will look at the menu first before we sit down- if they are going to offer the basics we have other places we would go to.
Read online reviews and decided to try the recommendations.
The Lollipop Chops are excellent. The lamb was moist , tasty and slightly charred and crunchy from the grilling. It was supplemented by a white dipping sauce that was like mayonnaise. The other appetizer was zucchini flowers stuffed with cheese and baby zucchini and lightly fried. Cooked just right with light batter and covered with a fruity jam. These were presented on wooden plate which added to pleasant visual effect. Lastly we shared a pasta dish that was half a beef bone marrow on the side and small chunks of pasta with italian sausage and white wine cream. It was tasty and freshly made.
Todo estuvo genial!
It was my first time going to Barbusa and the occasion was for my fathers birthday! The food was delicious and came out in good time! Drinks were also delicious and everyone was satisfied with their choices! Would recommend and definitely come here again!
I really enjoyed the ambiance here, and our server was great. We were sat outside and had fun people watching. The food was just okay. We ordered the garlic bread to start which was really good. Our main dishes, the carbonara and bolognese, were just ok. I guess it just didn’t really feel like a $78 dollar dinner. I’d probably not come back here but it was worth a try.
We were so impressed with this place! The garlic french bread is the best we've had. Everything we ate was superb. The service was excellent.
Delicious dinner and drinks. We sat at a round table which was great as it’s hard to have a conversation with 6 people in a noisy restaurant. Everyone was satisfied with their entrees although at 7:20 they were already out of Osso bucco. Too full for dessert.
Uncomfortable with servers not properly wearing their masks.
A little tough to get into… But boy was it worth it! Everything from the hostess to our waiter to our food to the atmosphere… Amazing! I will be back
Wonderful service and food! Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves Italian seafood!
A really nice experience....food was good but I have had better bolognese in Boston’s north end, but still a really nice dinner in a cool/fun feeling place. Thanks for asking
Best restaurant in San Diego hands down!
Food always good, one dish came out cold, server never checked back, a busser saved the day and replaced it immediately, server didn’t even know about it when she brought the check, I love this place but they were out of two items on the menu.
Food as always is incredible, but our waiter was kind of rude. I understand how people can get stressed. But that haven’t happen to us on barbusa. Anyways we’ll be back soon.
Food was great and environment was fun and energetic. Had to wait for 40 mins even though we had a reservation. Really defeats the purpose of reservations and put a damper on the experience.
Sydney at the host stand was so friendly and welcoming! She was also very helpful in navigating the menu options to ensure we got the most out of our dining experience. Delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. I will definitely be returning next time I’m in San Diego :)
Service was friendly and prompt.. My pasta dish was on the heavy side but tasty… My husband had the pizza where the dough was undercooked and all gooey.. not good at all
Great culinary experience. Service was excellent. Food outstanding
We ate outside
Thank you Gustavo. You made my 1st experience great!
Food lacking flavor. Service was rude and rushed. Not worth the money.
Bday. Great food
Carbonara is my go to!!! Sad to
Say , it wasn’t so flavorful this time .
Always a wonderful experience dining at Barbusa! Perfect for sharing plates and can’t beat the amazing service.
Food is excellent as well as the service. Only thing I disliked was the portion sizes of the plates - too little for the price.
I think this was the best restaurant I’ve been to in years. All the food tasted fresh and amazing! Props to whoever shipped their granny from Italy to make my meal. She’s legit at the cooking thing. Also the service was A1, knowledgeable, detailed and professional staff. Word to motha
Server was too busy for us. Medium rare ribeye came out in less than 5 minutes, seems like it was already made for another table. Our server was way more attentive to the party of 7 next to us 40 mins into our dinner. We needed things multiple times throughout our dinner and neither the server or staff made eye contact although they were making their “walk throughs”. Both my partner and I work in the industry; service was lack luster.
The lobster ravioli was delicious but small in portion size. Service was slow despite non-peak 5:00pm dinner time when it was not busy.
