Best Italian in Little Italy!! You won’t be disappointed. Everything on the menu is delicious!!
Great restaurant, cool vibe , great bar
Excellent food, drinks and vibe! Would highly recommend!
Many delights and good energy where you feel spoiled like a special guest thanks to PJ who puts the Busa in Barbusa. Make a reservation or you're unlikely to get in especially on a busy weekend. Lots of menu options to please a range of diners. Excellent salmon. Large servings for pasta & salads, enough to share or serve family style. Garlic bread as basic as it sounds is ah-mazing! Nice wine menu, try Austin Hope 2017 Cab from Paso which was excellent recommendation by our waiter. We had the high top which seated 10 which was perfect for our larger group and is located up front vs tucked in the back of the restaurant.
Almost felt like I was at a club more than at a place to enjoy dinner. Waiter was great and wish I could hear him when he was talking to me!
The food was outstanding and the servers recommendations were on point!
First time and had high expectations give other reviews. It was ok, not great. Server was very good. Food was average. Arancini was good but a bit over cooked. Pasta dishes were ok but could have used more flavor, both had good proportion and a lot of sauce but were on the bland side. Atmosphere was good, liked the open kitchen and energy.
I really enjoyed his restaurant. We were seated within ten minutes in spite of it being a Friday night at 7. Our table was right in front of the bar and it had really ambient light. Our server was awesome. I don’t remember her name. Bruschetta appetizer was delicious. Totally perfect. I didn’t think I would like the pomedoro aspect of the sauce but it actually made for a more even crostini.
I got the orecchiette with the duck ragu. Best pasta I’ve ever had. Hands down. The sauce was mouthwatering and the San Marzanos were perfect. My orecchiette was al dente but it maybe sat for too long because there were tons of clumps of about 6-10 shells all stuck together. That was the only downside. It was also a huge serving. I took half home and ate it for dinner the next day.
My husband hated his meal! He got the pasta with the bone marrow and he said the whole thing tasted like hamburger helper 😭. I tasted it and thought it was fine.
Could’ve used some dinner bread maybe but other than that I loved this place!
Extremely loud restaurant. The bolognese reminded me of Speghettios.. not great. But the pizza we ordered was delicious. Definitely don’t get the high top table in the front or servers will be bumping your chair all night.
Very noisy, couldnt talk to each other
Wow on the Italian cuisine! Service was great! We were in and out of the restaurant in an hour and yet never felt rushed! The vibe is energetic so may not be the place if you are looking for a quiet and private atmosphere. Will definitely return!
The food was good, not spectacular. I had a bine marrow dish which had literally one bite of marrow. It should have just been omitted from the dish.
The reservation was the real problem. Our reservation (for two) was for 0730. We arrived on time and they were quite busy. The very polite hostesses assured us it would just be a few minutes. Many people came in without reservations and were turned away. Two particular younger guys came without a reservation and were turned away and minutes later came back escorted by what looked to be a manager right to an opening two top. The hostesses looked frustrated and we had to wait another 30 minutes until a new table became available.
Unacceptable customer service.
Best meal we’d had in a while! They have an incredible happy hour! We wanted to order everything on the list and everything that we did order was delicious. Service was excellent as well. We can’t wait to come back to San Diego so we can return. Highly recommend all around!
We kinda felt ignored most of the night... food took long and waitress didn’t even know if we got our food at some point. We’re sitting there at an empty table about 40 minutes after we ordered and she’s like did you get your food yet? She didn’t know if we had eaten it yet or just been there waiting. It was pasta.. doesn’t take too long. Then at the end when we wanted dessert.. it took about another 30 minutes after our table was cleared to get approached about dessert..: and then about another 30 minutes after dessert to pay our bill. Slowest service ever. Food was tasty though!
Seems a little over-hyped. My main issue was how dark it was inside - we had to use lights on the phone to read our menu. The service and food were very good I had in Little Italy. Maybe food would be more appetizing if I could see it.
I had very high expectations and my overall experience was overshadowed by the lack of light.
Marco the Waitress we had was amazing very friendly with a good manners and very funny attitude
The food was absolutely amazing and our server was fantastic.
I would definitely return to this restaurant!
Thank You Very Much !!! My wife and I greatly enjoyed ourselves at dinner. I have already recommended Barbusa to a few close friends.
Three cheers for Marissa! We loved the food and service at Barbusa. Garlic bread was extremely delicious, as were the funghi and bolognese pastas. Julip cocktail was good too, as was the arugula salad. It's definitely loud here, but that's part of the charm. Overall, comfortable, stylish, buzzy and delicious!
Food was very good, staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends!
Food was delicious. The vibe in the restaurant was active, very loud, but felt like a large family get together for a dinner.
Realllllly loud in there
Wonderful dining experience as always. If you’re up for the energy of Little Italy, then this is the best option for delicious Italian cuisine!
Energetic or extremely loud depends on your point of view. I could barely hear the person across the table.
Meatballs appetizer was good. The chicken in my dish was very dry especially with the white meat. Other people seemed to like their other dishes.
We had a reservation at 6:00. We got seated at 6:30 and a waiter didn’t come to check on us until 6:40. The food was good but not that good to waste 40 minutes... with reservation.
Great food, friendly service, fun atmosphere
We brought our kids in for a special occasion dinner with family and had a great experience. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our experience. Our food was amazing. We will definitely be back!
Dined here late on a Thursday night. Very noisy with cramped seating. Very difficult to converse. Calimari appetizer was cold, chewy, and some kind of tartar sauce spilled all over it. Parmesan chips were greasy and chewy. Would have preferred a red sauce with the cavatelli with sausage and bone marrow entree. The pasta dish was bland. The arugula salad with cheese was very good. Portions were generous. Very disappointed with the overall experience.
Nice good food a little noise
Excelente calidad y sabor en todos los platillos. Muy buen servicio
Food was amazing!
My second time to Barbusa. This high energy restaurant is one of the hot places in Little Italy, a place to see and be seen. The waitstaff is knowledgable and professional, the food is excellent, and the ambiance is very cool. I ordered a tamahawk pork chop that came dry and overcooked, which can happen, and the waiter very efficiently brought me a new one cooked perfectly. Everyone liked their food, especially the bone marrow appitizer.
We had a 4:30 reservation for 10 people. We were seated promptly after they cleared the table. The service was excellent. The drinks were good. Happy hour on a Saturday night! Everyone loved the food.
It was very nice. Our server was very very nice and the food was amazing!
My husband and I are visiting from out of town. I’ve seen a few reviews about feeling rushed to finish a meal. I didn’t feel like that but the restaurant was extremely busy on a Thursday night after 7. Not an empty table in sight. The food was absolutely fantastic. The lamb chop “lollipops” were out of this world. I had the mushroom pasta and my husband had the gnocchi and both were great.
Service was good. Since it was so busy we didn’t see our main waiter a lot but others were stepping in to get us water and clear plates. The only thing that put me off a bit was the noise level. The music was so loud that you couldn’t really have an actual conversation. You’d see other tables where people are leaning in and trying to talk louder to hear each other over the music lol.
Overall, I’d recommend!
The appetizers were good. The pasta dishes we order were over cooked gummy and unpleasant.
This place has amazing energy, amazing service and the food is something out of this world.
Everything is delicious - every time! From the wine list to the pasta list.
Worst service ever
My husband and I go to Barbusa several times a month. As always, food is delicious, staff is friendly and helpful.
