About
Lovely flavors. The noise made conversation hard, but that's because I'm somewhat older and find that an issue - I don't think it was problematic for those who are younger. Loved the prix fix meal.
Amazing service and exceptional food!
It is a cute neighborhood bar. The food was delicious, and the wait staff was kind and helpful. I tried uploading pictures of our dinner- but apparently they are too large.
Lovely atmosphere, great service, and delicious food!
My wife and I have been going back to Barbette for 16 years. This past year the food was amazing as always.
Delicious brunch with a server who actually understands what it means to offer great service. Every request we made was answered with “yes” and “ my pleasure.” It was our pleasure to enjoy a great brunch with a daughter returning from ethiopia who wanted veggies after a long trip without, a family member visiting from LA, and my very particular mom. Booked my birthday dinner here for 4 days later!
Always superb. Steak Helene is my go to. A lot of the same staff from years back, food sign.
The food was not as good as we remembered. The waitress forgot to bring
our bacon order and we forgot to take it
off the bill. Our experience was okay, but not good enough to want to return soon. There are plenty of other places
that have more to offer
Good food, but we were overcharged. After I martini, I failed to notice on the spot, but, thinking about it the next day, realized the problem. After a trip back to the restaurant and 2 phone calls, I've been promised a refund (but not on the extra tip). I've heard from other people that it's a known problem that Barbette's software often fails to clear the previous party's charges from the tab before you sit down.
Everybody makes mistakes, but, given that this is a recurring problem, the staff ought to be on the look out for it, ought to promptly refund money, and ought not be chintzy about refunding the extra tip. C'mon guys, it's just common sense: you got it wrong, so show your customers a little love if you want to keep them. Some vouchers would be a good start.
We had a great time celebrating a birthday there. Our server was great, the sparking rose was delicious, and the mussels were superb!
I was impressed by Barbette. The service was very good, bordering on outstanding. The food was very good and the wine list was outstanding. A great value in an up and coming neighborhood in Minneapolis.
The food is always interesting, unique and delicious!
Great spot to bring friends from out of town. The service was great, great wine, love the atmosphere.
Favorite restaurant in Mpls.! Great food, great service, best martini. Very romantic....
Been there many times. Never a less than fantastic time! Great food with solid consistent preparation. Friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere even in a busy environment.
The dish towel napkins leave white lint all over black clothing. Such a shame for an otherwise fine dining experience!
We love Barbette. The service is unsurpassed. The food, usually amazing... this time around we were disappointed. The beef was over cooked and prepared with less care than we have come to expect from this neighborhood gem. We will be back, but worry when our favorite places start to falter.
Barbettes is about one of 10 restaurants that we have in regular rotation. The food is always good and the portions are reasonable and the specials are worth trying almost every time. Keep doing good work, Barbette staff!
Love this neighborhood restaurant with a low-key eclectic French vibe. This feels like a restaurant you would find in New York - urban and kind of shabby chic. Never been disappointed here and have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner, appetizers and desserts. I think they have the best mussels in town. T Knowledgeable servers, excellent and attentive service, interesting bar options. A bit noisy and crowded, but that's part of the charm too.
There's even some parking behind the building - a rare find in Uptown. I highly recommend Barbette.
I have great memories of Cafe Barbette from a decade ago. The food is excellent and always fresh in season. The restaurant is just very loud. It's hard to hear your friends conversation. Our waitress knew her stuff and was helpful, but neglected to mention the cost of the specials so we were surprised by the $28 price tag for steak and the more expensive bouillabaisse. I also was surprised that her refills of my iced tea was also an added cost (minor at $1). Would've been nice to have been told of these additional costs. Going out is always expensive in Minneapolis, but a waiter or waitress who acknowledges prices with her great presentation of taste and ingredients is always appreciated.
Barbette was great as always! Delicious steak frites :)
Delicious food and great staff in the restaurant. Amazing interior design
The four of us had a very tasty brunch. There were three coffee drinkers and the staff was attentive and kept the cups full. We had dessert too. The carrot cake was so gigantic that I gave half of mine to an adjoining table making four visitors from Michigan happy. I thought the bill of $103 was a bit high since no alcohol was involved.
Our group of six spent a couple long, chatty lunch hours here. Service was delightful from our arrival til departure. Food was solid interpretations of French classics and American standards. As a food professional i could see simple tweeks in most dishs that would have taken the kitchen from ok to really good. May even send my recipe for carrot cake, which was praised by the server, huge (!), but just ok. The crepe breton was again, ok...needs work, but great filling. Croque monsieur/madame..excellent ingredients, but too much bread and too much ham, so had a dryness that the runny egg couldn't support. Super beverages, great coffee. And again, wonderful staff. Will go again..for a late dnner, and see how that goes. Reason for late dinner? Noisiest place outside a big game day sports bar I've been to in a long time.
Awful. Our food came out COLD.
Great food, excellent service, nice environment. Gets more noisy later on into the evening
A lovely uptown establishment!
I’ve been here before and it was good, but the last time I went was super underwhelming. The omelette I had was pretty much inedible and the service was slow even though the place was basically empty (at 10am on a Sunday, which is really slow for brunch). And to top it off, we paid way too much for it. Won’t go back.
We have eaten at Barbette several times in the past year, and this was the least satisfactory of our visits. Our waiter was nice enough, but his attentiveness left something to be desired. We had to remind him about the honey for our tea when he came by for something else, he forgot that we wanted water, then we never got a refill. We had to flag him down for coffee refills the first time...then he came often enough on his own. Worst of all our food was allowed to cool off before it was delivered to the table. Since I could see him talking with a coworker behind the bar while our food sat on the kitchen window, I was not very happy with the congealed hollandaise on my Eggs Benedict. Our friend had asked for extra hollandaise when he ordered, but had to request it again when his meal arrived, and wait several more minutes for it to arrive. Not anything major on its own, but disappointing to spend more than $80 (with tip) for the level of service received in this visit. There were too many missteps for me to be very happy with this experience.
Very disappointing. The ambiance and wait staff were wonderful during happy hour. The wines were terrific. But our meal, the lamb gnocchi contained no gnocchi. The chicken was nothing special and not very creative in flavor or presentation. Perhaps the beef dishes that our dinner guests ordered were satisfactory. The food didn’t spark any conversation
A family member's favorite and great suggestion to gather for breakfast/brunch. We appreciated the opportunity to reserve a table which was all set for us upon arrival and thoughtfully, away from a large group which arrived after we did. The quiche was fabulous!!! Everyone enjoyed their meal and the opportunity to linger over conversation without hurrying to turn tables. We will return next time we're in the city!
In the past, Barbette has been one of our favorite restaurants. However, this latest chief they hired is not up to par. As for our appetizers, my husband's mussels were overly salted. My seared scallops were excellent. We had salad next. The new chief has decreased the salad selection to two salads. We each chose the organic mixed lettuces salad. The lettuces had been marinated in the dressing, so they were not crisp. The dressing was very tasty. Each of us also ordered the sockeye salmon. It was very mediocre. We won't be returning to Barbette this year. Their are too many better restaurants.
The service was excellent.
The chefs really know how to prepare yummy vegetables: the Jerusalem artichokes were a tasty change of pace; the roasted asparagus and roasted carrots were beautifully prepared and scrumptious. The scallops were also delicious. The salmon was dry, but we loved everything else so much it didn't matter.
Loved the salmon! De-Lish!!
Excellent pepper steak. First time I've ever ordered a steak medium that didn't come out either medium rare or medium well. It was actually medium. Well done (pun intended) Barbette!
I’ve been going to Barbette for many years. Within Mpls it’s a unique combination of great food and brilliant ambience. Great both for breakfast and late night.
Felt the food was marginal. Lamb ragout was fairly dry and somewhat tasteless. Hubby had steak/frites. Frites were good, ribeye was drenched in their idea of Relais d’Entrecote sauce, too much of it and green beans were hard, not steamed enough. Sat outside And due to construction elsewhere, 11 busses went by kicking up all sorts of debri into food and beverage.
Always love the breakfast here. Service was OK, I thought server was a little overbearing. He knew we were having a conversation and kept interrupting.
We have visited your lovely restaurant numerous times when in town and have enjoyed the outdoor dining and delicious food. The gnocchi with lamb is particularly good and classic French. The wait staff is friendly and helpful.
The food and drinks were amazing. No AC, which I appreciate and no ice in water. The service was a bit slow but we were not rushed. Overall great experience.
