We had an excellent evening. Everything was perfectly prepared. The broccolini really stood out on its own as perfect example. I got the steak frite. Perfect! Excellent food, excellent staff, excellent time. I will be back.
Always great atmosphere, service, and food--A local gem!
This place is great! Unique cocktails and a stellar menu. Only downside is finding parking if the parking lot is full.
We tried Barbette’s for breakfast and liked the menu, ambiance and Alissa our server we decided to try for dinner: dinner the next night was terrific the oysters, wine, soup, steaks were all great-Tim our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list,
We visit frequently from Altlanta this is one of our go to places,
We really appreciate restaurants who are willing ing to work through food allergies. We had a great birthday dinner and they let's us bring our own cake and made it a birthday presentation at the table. Thank you! So fun!
Excell was foos and service
Let me start by saying, we love Barbette. This was not one of our better experiences, all related to the quality of the food. The scrambled eggs were cold, asparagus in the benedict was cold, bacon was not fully cooked and the french toast had been ordered with the compote on the side which was delivered scraped off of the toast.
Our server was wonderful.
Wonderful. Very delicious breakfast. Excellent carrot cake.
We had a great time. My date had never been here and wants to come back. Love the Eggs Benedict. Great and fun waitstaff. Very attentive.
This was a special brunch with an old friend. Allison was a wonderful server, the food was excellent and we all agreed that it was one of those perfect occasions. The buckwheat crepe and the avocado sandwich were excellent as was the Croque Monsieur
Our only complaint is the noise level...I know some would describe it as "energetic," but we found it LOUD and it was hard to talk and communicate. Still, we'd probably go back.
I always have a great experience here! The staff is great and the food is always amazing.
We are out-of-towners who have dined at Barbette's with local residents several times. I love the atmosphere and the menu is excellent. Drinks are good and prices are fair. I like the neighborhood feel - there's none of that precious "Aren't we so hip" mood. One tiny bit of annoyance: I wore a black sweater and pants and they were covered with little white specs from the napkins.
Great food and drinks...generous portions compared to other similar restaurants.
Barbette has AMAZING food, everything I tried was fantastic. The service was sub par but the staff was still really friendly. It was a loud atmosphere but a lot of natural light and beautiful artwork created a great space for brunch.
We loved everything about Barbette’s! It was our second time there and we will be back again when visiting the Cities.
The fries are the best! Everything is very good
Classy yet understated wonderful place to dine. Service compliments the enjoyment of dining. Love the ambiance here!
Always reliable, quality food and drink. Dinner for four was great.
Disappointed that eggs were not cooked over easy as requested. They were totally cook through. None of the dishes were delivered really hot. Service was competent, but nothing special.
Overall, very good. The service was quite slow, but the food quality/creativity/value was very good.
We had a really nice time at Barbette. The food was very good and our server was excellent. We also had some delicious wine at a lovely corner table. It was very relaxed and enjoyable. The bar area is very authentic, in a French style. There is a great happy hour with food and wine at a great price so just be aware that this could mean groups getting a bit loud as they enjoy their happy hour, as it was at the table next to ours. That wasn't their fault though; the host should have probably sat them or us at a different table.
Overall, it was a great night and we will definitely be back.
Always a great choice!
My wife and I enjoy going out Saturday evenings. Barbette is a great place to relax while enjoying good food. My steak au poivre was done right. My wife’s steak frites was a bit over cooked, despite having asked it to be medium rare. The wine list could include a bit more rose wines, especially from France since this is a French-inspired restaurant. Overall an enjoyable experience.
Simply overpriced for what it is! Food was good, muscles came with very little broth. steak was good but not for $40
It took just a bit for our server to acknowledge us though once he did he was great. We really enjoyed ourselves at Barbette, with a meal that was fantastic. I would recommend providing more great and spoons for the mussels than the 2/3 pieces we received. And I'd recommend more for the steak tartare as well. And if you're not going to provide more when first presenting both dishes, please don't make us wait as long as we did for the additional bread we ordered. It's not toasted or anything so that was a bit odd. Our meal was so good, really excellent and we can't wait to go back again.
Long wait for Food.
Wonderful bistro with excellent service. Food is simple and delicious.
Nice Bohemian style French Bistro. Very accommodating for celiac. Waiter brought gluten free bread with my wife's soup as a surprise. Nice wine list and options by the glass.
fave brunch spot. seriously naughty AND seriously healthy options available.
A trusted favorite for many years, I never hesitate to pick Barbette for date night or special occasion. The food is consistently good, the pricing fair, and the atmosphere eclectic and friendly. Hands down, Barbette also seems to have the best, most knowledgeable servers in town. Love, love, love this place!
We had a great time and the server was GREAT, I will go back and I will recommend this to friends...
the service was wonderful and the staff was helpful. the wine selection was excellent and the mussels were very tasty. nice place ,will go there again
I always feel like I’m in the West Village in the 80’s when I eat at Barbette’s. A good vibe, great for, and personable waiters.
I am a fan of all the Bartmann restaurants, and have been coming to Barbette for over a decade, so it pains me to say this. I am extremely disappointed with the service we received last night. "House" wine should never be $15 a glass, but that's what I was served - to the tune of $90 total for our party. I wasn't about to ruin our evening by making a stink about it. But I'm also not planning on returning. What a terrible end to an otherwise enjoyable evening. Shame on your staff.
I like the atmosphere and decor - it's colorful and cozy. Service was very friendly and helpful. I was a little annoyed at the small portion of fruit salad for $6 - maybe I expect too much but for that amount of money it should have been a little bit more. It was fresh and tasty, though.
Birthday dinner, loud atmosphere, could only talk to person next to you. Dirty, disgusting bathroom, urinals overflowing, wet floor, paper towel mess. Waiter not knowledgeable and VERY slow with everything. Some food came out cold after waiting a very long time. Some items were a good value, (chicken dinner) others not so much (steak, crab ravioli). I would not come back for dinner. Will stick with happy hour cheese plate and wine!
Overall, a nice restaurant - some dishes (appetizers) were amazing, others were just good (salmon was a little overdone, probably because it was a thinner filet). We will return.
This was my first time visiting Barbette. Everything was great, but I think the service was the best part. Our waiter was knowledgeable, kind, attentive, and fun.
I like the ambience and this place has been a favorite of mine. But this time my wife and I were disappointed with the food. Her squash risotto was over powered with garlic and my frites were soggy and too salty. I will likely returnbut another strike out and I am gone.
Wait staff very professional and knowledgeable. Paid good attention to us yet was not overbearing. Cheese plate excellent. Good Portuguese red wine, very robust, and a good sweet Riesling. Rutabaga with spinach and orange vinaigrette was spectacular. Steak Au poivre, the small cut was excellent but in the case of my companion was over- peppered. Can’t understand why 2 steaks prepared at same time using same method could vary so. Atmosphere lively but no shrieking diners. We could hear each other. I would return any time, and will.
