Named "Best French Restaurant, populist vote" by Mpls St. Paul Magazine (CLICK HERE to see our menus), Barbette has also received "best of's" from local press for its late night dining, neighborhood night on sundays, desserts, wine list, date spot, music, and, of course, those French fries that accompany the steak frites. We use local and organic ingredients as often as possible, presenting beautiful food in a casual, eclectic, bistro atmosphere. We only book a percentage of our restaurant with reservations and hold tables for walk-ins on a daily basis. All walk-ins are seated on a first come first served basis. Barbette does not accept checks.

Parking is available along the alley side of the parking lot behind the restaurant with the parking lot entrance on Irving. If the lot is full, there is off street parking available as well as metered parking on Lake Street.

Our intersection (Lake & Irving) is served by the 12, 17, and 114 bus lines. In addition, the Uptown Transit Station is located just 5 blocks away, servicing the following bus lines as well: 6, 21, 23, 53, 115.



There is also a Nice Ride MN bike station located at Lake & Humbolt, just 2 blocks from Barbette!

Nice Bohemian style French Bistro. Very accommodating for celiac. Waiter brought gluten free bread with my wife's soup as a surprise. Nice wine list and options by the glass.

A trusted favorite for many years, I never hesitate to pick Barbette for date night or special occasion. The food is consistently good, the pricing fair, and the atmosphere eclectic and friendly. Hands down, Barbette also seems to have the best, most knowledgeable servers in town. Love, love, love this place!

I am a fan of all the Bartmann restaurants, and have been coming to Barbette for over a decade, so it pains me to say this. I am extremely disappointed with the service we received last night. "House" wine should never be $15 a glass, but that's what I was served - to the tune of $90 total for our party. I wasn't about to ruin our evening by making a stink about it. But I'm also not planning on returning. What a terrible end to an otherwise enjoyable evening. Shame on your staff.

I like the atmosphere and decor - it's colorful and cozy. Service was very friendly and helpful. I was a little annoyed at the small portion of fruit salad for $6 - maybe I expect too much but for that amount of money it should have been a little bit more. It was fresh and tasty, though.

Birthday dinner, loud atmosphere, could only talk to person next to you. Dirty, disgusting bathroom, urinals overflowing, wet floor, paper towel mess. Waiter not knowledgeable and VERY slow with everything. Some food came out cold after waiting a very long time. Some items were a good value, (chicken dinner) others not so much (steak, crab ravioli). I would not come back for dinner. Will stick with happy hour cheese plate and wine!

Overall, a nice restaurant - some dishes (appetizers) were amazing, others were just good (salmon was a little overdone, probably because it was a thinner filet). We will return.

This was my first time visiting Barbette. Everything was great, but I think the service was the best part. Our waiter was knowledgeable, kind, attentive, and fun.

I like the ambience and this place has been a favorite of mine. But this time my wife and I were disappointed with the food. Her squash risotto was over powered with garlic and my frites were soggy and too salty. I will likely returnbut another strike out and I am gone.

Wait staff very professional and knowledgeable. Paid good attention to us yet was not overbearing. Cheese plate excellent. Good Portuguese red wine, very robust, and a good sweet Riesling. Rutabaga with spinach and orange vinaigrette was spectacular. Steak Au poivre, the small cut was excellent but in the case of my companion was over- peppered. Can’t understand why 2 steaks prepared at same time using same method could vary so. Atmosphere lively but no shrieking diners. We could hear each other. I would return any time, and will.

Historically, my Barbette experiences have been great. The ambiance is nice, I like the food well enough, and it's a lovely spot for happy hour get-togethers. Unfortunately, my recent visits have been sub-par. They're undeniably busy during weekend brunch - I get it. Service was pleasant and friendly, though waiting 20 minutes for a mimosa and then another 10 to get our orders in doesn't quite win. I've gone several different days for brunch thinking that these things were just a fluke, but it's been consistent. Three stars given because overall it's still a decent place for HH. At least the frites are still tasty, too.

the food was very good with lots of flavors. warm olives and chicken liver mousse were very tasty. Steak frites and steak au poivre were good but undercooked. Medium rare should be very red but not purple. Sent it back and they cooked it further.
