The couple prove their continued commitment to this historic district with the decision to rebuild in the same location as their old restaurant Barbarini, which was completely destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.

Cozy, cool vibe with nice drinks and food to die for. The pear and ricotta fagottini was amazing! Our waiter was great - remembered us but didn't keep interrupting. Will definitely go back again!
Delicious food, great service!! My go to in the area!
Hidden gem!! Amazing and our new favorite in New York city
Great value proposition: huge portions and excellent quality. I’d highly recommend this restaurant!
Lovely spot. The special pumpkin ravioli was exquisite!
meet old friend
Great food and great service!. Perfect for a date night by the movies.
The food is always excellent. The service is professional and attentive. We have come this restaurant for many years and we enjoy every time. We are happy they survived the pandemic and will serve the community many more years.
Absolutely hands down the best pasta I have ever had in my life. Every time I come back I wonder if I've just built it up in my head but no. It is life changing. This place is so cute and quiet and the ambiance is amazing. I love the cobblestone street it's on and the prices are so affordable. This is by far my favorite place to eat in the city if I want a low key evening that will keep both my stomach and wallet full and treat my taste buds. The pear and ricotta fagottini is the best meal I've ever had. I dream about it. Absolutely love this spot.
Regular here, food and service is always top notch!
Our go to when dining in the city. Romantic but chill atmosphere. Great music. Good NEVER disappoints. My go to is the pear & ricotta fagottini. Anything on the menu will not disappoint!
It was okay
Food was great. Seemed like needed more waitstaff. Construction across the street was noisy. Overall food made it worth it and the servers that are there were great.
Better than expected!... quality food and service!... We all ordered pasta dishes and appetizers!.... just fabulous
Also, a very well appointed menu .. something for everyone. Will be going back soon
Everything delicious but very limited menu
This is a very pleasant place to eat in the Seaport. Nice brunch, good service and a very pleasant atmosphere. We would return.
Nice ambience, wonderful service, and great food.
Excellent service, our waiter was very attentive and gave good recommendations.
Barbalu was off the main strip and as soon as we walked in we smelled the delicious food. My friend and I had the lobster ravioli which was that evenings special and our husbands had the lasagna. None of us were disappointed, prices for beyond reasonable and food far exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be back.
We had an amazing experience!
Our waiter was knowledgeable, he made excellent suggestions.
The mozzarella was like butter, it melted in your mouth. The black linguine with shrimp was delicious and the lamb chop were cooked perfectly.
Thank you Barbalu, we will be coming back!!
What a terrific spot "hidden" downtown. If you are going to #Vangogh or #southstreetseaport you are close by. Don't miss it. Food was excellent. Service was terrific. The closed in garden room was perfect for a romantic dinner
Beautiful space. Attentive but non obtrusive service. Excellent menu and choices BUT, lacked execution. Not sure the Chef who wrote the menu oversees the kitchen. Prosciutto sliced too thick, Buffalo mozzarella did not have the tang. Lasagna overwhelmed
by the bechamel. Pasta special lacked seasoning. Concise wine list but fair and decent range for style and price point. Bar area a little unorganized/ it looked like a storage space that you had to pass through it to access one of the bathrooms. A lot of potential for this place if they put someone with experience in charge to pull it together.
The Overall the experience was great! I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Very cute place. Appetizers were not so good. The entrees were exceptional! The waitress was sweet but not prepared to answer many questions. We would definitely go back for the food and location!
Maitre D was very helpful. We needed to eat promptly to get to concert and everything came out on time. Appetizers were good, main course only so so.
Our favorite couple took my husband and me to dinner at Barbalu before the Pink Martini concert at Pier 17. What a great choice! We were greeted promptly and seated in the back room under skylights. The room was attractive with brick walls and comfortable seating, and the tables were well placed a distance apart. Our waiter took good care of us during the entire meal. My girlfriend and I both had glasses of the rosé, which was fine. We ordered the meat plate and cheese plate for all of us to share, and they were just right. We all enjoyed our entrees, perfectly sized and delicious. The next time we visit the South Street Seaport area, Barbalu will be our preferred restaurant.
Food was excellent! Service was great.
Food was excellent Alex was excellent
It was an anniversary dinner and we were treated very well. The food was outstanding as well as the service. It was also very queer-friendly.
Amazing our second time around again! Our new favorite brunch place.
Friends getting together
A little slow on service but otherwise always a family favorite!
Nice mature Italian restaurant.
Excellent staff and their suggestions on drinks and food were spot on. Superb food
Food was terrible, service was poor. Had to send back our entree's which were disgusting. Embarrassingly bad management. Never again.
Food average at best. Service very poor and very rude,
Food was good customer service was terrible. My daughter ordered spinach fettuccine with mushrooms. The menu says gluten free options available so she
asked for gluten free. He brought the dishes out but failed to mention that gluten free meant no spinach. Her dish was pasta and mushrooms- absolutely no flavor. The server made no attempt to correct the dish, ask her if she wanted to change her order, or remove from the bill. For a place that gets high reviews we were left scratching outer heads. I was extremely disappointed in Barbalu. I would definitely NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The salad was far too expensive for what it was. It was very meh tasting and the portion was small. The entrees were as expected though a tad expensive. The whole experience was very average.
The food was generally good. One person in the party ordered the bronzino which was overcooked and dry.
There was confusion over the billing and it looks like the restaurant billed us twice even though we asked for the bill to be corrected.
