Barbadoes Room -The Mills House Wyndham Grand Hotel
Lovely Food and service. Beautiful ambiance. Worth a visit.
We were treated like royalty Everyone from the hostess bar tender server and manager we outstanding and the food was great!
We really appreciate everyone making our evening so special.
We had a fabulous dinner with delicious food. Service was excellent as well.
Absolutely wonderful restaurant, food was excellent . Great service all around, would highly recommend it.
Food was excellent. Service was well beyond excellent
Great service and ambiance. We went on Valentine’s Day so had a limited special menu. Will try again when the regular menu is available.
Lovely experience. Love the new menu. Can’t wait to come back again!
Great late night dinner at the the Mills house, food was great and service wonderful!
Had dinner and drinks in the Barbadoes Room Sunday. The food was delicious. The menu offers a variety of different things including a raw bar. The service was excellent and The courtyard is absolutely beautiful.
Really excellent service and food! We love coming here and the new menu. We will be back.
Wonderful staff, especially our waiter. Beautiful restaurant. Just a great venue and great food.
Service was excellent as was the food. Lived in Charleston for 35 years and with all the wonderful restaurants around, we had not been to the Barbados Room. We will definitely be back!
Perfect evening in the courtyard of the Mills house at the Barbados room. French sparkling Rose, house made meats and cheeses and wonderful variety of small and large plates. We had the Sweet potato croquettes which were delicious and split a homemade pasta with a cream sauce. Service was prompt and friendly, they turned on fire heaters for us the moment they saw us putting on our coats. Great experience!
My party went for restaurant week. The soup, mushroom and leek was very delightful, however the rest of the meal was poorly prepared. The fried chicken pieces were confusing and the skin was soft and inedible. The flavor or the breading would have been delicious if prepared better. The peas were undercooked and inedible. The flourless chocolate cake was presented without a knife and it was impossible to cut with only a fork due to how hard and cold it was. Overall I was very disappointed in our experience.
We knew this hotel had a good reputation but were disappointed in the dining experience. In a town like Charleston it’s a shame to ever have a mediocre experience.
Beautiful room, used the restaurant week menu.Appetizers were very good. Main course of fried chicken failed. Listed as buttermilk fried chicken but did not meet expectations for a battered crust. Instead crust was thin more like Panko and had a sweet syrup poured over it.
This dish should not be served. It also included a bed of greens and beans which were very unattractive contained no color.
Great dinner at the Barbados room. Got lucky with the weather and got to sit outside. Food and service were great, very accommodating with with allergies and dietary restrictions.
Th is is such a beautiful restaurant. My husband and I went for brunch and started with a dozen oysters. I ordered the charcuterie plodder which was varied and huge. The smoked duck was a delicious surprise. My husband enjoyed the confit chicken wings. Very pleat with our experience again.
An amazing experience. The server was very professional and the food was fantastic!
Do not go here for New Years Eve. We waiting 15 minutes and no one served us. Yes, we had reservations. We were totally disappointed; especially since we were staying at the hotel.
Food excellent. Ribeye cooked perfectly. Duck confit crisp on outside, juicy inside. Ravioli very tasty. Gin cocktail excellent. Service perfect. We’ll be back. Special kudos to General Manager Dimitri Hatgidimitiou - professional, aware, cordial, and on his game.
Bustling day before New Years, service was great, our entrees took a bit to get to the table which we didn’t even notice because we were enjoying 1/2 off wine night! Manager came over with desserts at the end of dinner to apologize... highly recommend!
Another great dinner at the Barbadoes room. We arrived early for our reservation and despite the fact the dining room was almost full, the manager was so nice and sat us right away. Our waiter Steve was friendly and professional. We had the sausage plate, burrata, Grouper and ribeye. Both were great but the ribeye could have been cooked a bit more. We were celebrating a birthday and they sent us over a dessert with a candle, on the house! Great service and food! Thank you!!
Food came out cold for a couple of us on multiple occasions. Overpriced Christmas dinner four course meal.
The food was acceptable but not great. I would have liked one traditional Christmas dinner choice on the me use.
This is our traditional Christmas dinner location. The food is the best, the service is top notch and the hotel is decorated splendidly.
Elegant restaurant for all occasions
Waited 15 minutes for a server. She crab soup was good but low country sandwich was awful. Stale with tasteless shrimp. Bacon was not in menu description, and we do not eat bacon. Terrible brunch.
Wonderful way to spend Christmas
We were there for Christmas brunch. The food was great and the service very friendly. It being a holiday though, they were a little understaffed. I felt for the servers and food runners because no one could pay as much attention to their tables as they would have liked. We were still taken care of, but there might have been an extra drink ordered, etc had the staff not been spread so thin.
Food was very good service was great we had a great evening will go back
We celebrated Christmas Eve enjoying a lovely dinner at the Barbados’s room. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the ambiance delightful. It’s nice to go to a restaurant and actually be able to have a conversation.
The menu selections were wonderful (4 courses with good selections for each course. Portions were plentiful and we all enjoyed what we ordered.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
We had our Christmas meal here. It was not good. Everything had no flavor and the desserts were frozen. For the price, it was a not worth it.
We had our annual Christmas Brunch with our granddaughter a fun break for her in the midst of exams fun for us to spend some time before she goes home. Thank you Robin
The Barbadoes Room at the Wyndham Grand Hotel is elegant and comfortable without being snooty. The menu has a nice variety and the food is delicious. Great place for an easygoing lunch or special occasion with someone(s) special.
We had a great stay at The Mills Hotel over Thanksgiving. We had planned on going across the street 80 Queen for dinner for Thanksgiving but we saw the Holiday dinner menu in the elevator my wife really wanted to have the prime rib. We did not have a reservation but we figured we would take a shot. Luckily enough when we came down we asked the manager how long it would be for a table of 2 and he said they had just had a cancellation and he would gladly seat us in just a few minutes. The food and the service was so great we decided to have lunch in the restaurant again the next day! Great She crab soup!
1st time taking the family out for T'giving. Would not recommend the Mills House for Thanksgiving dinner.
I have heard from many (I am a local) that the Buffet for T'giving is the way to go there. Unfortunately, the buffet sold out quickly. For dinner... Service was not good. Food ok and choices were adequate from prefixed menu. But for the fixed price (65$ per person and 20% gratuity ( had a party of 8) it was not worth it. The hotel itself is in an excellent location and very nice.
Good was mediocre at best! Service was slack. And a 20% gratuity added to the bill added insult to injury. With so many great options in Charleston, stay away from this one!
Not The Mills House of the past. Thought would be fun to go out for Thanksgiving buffet this year. The food was good not spectacular. Service was awful. Hostess couldn’t crack a smile or even say Happy Thanksgiving. In fact all of the staff walking around looked miserable. All the server had to do was get minimal drinks and we had to flag her down the two times we needed her. Sat at table for a while before we finally asked the manager if we were supposed to wait for server or go to buffet. Overall was ok will not go back. Charleston hospitality is dying at The Mills House sadly.
Thanksgiving brunch. Good value. Very good though not spectacular food. Enjoyed it very much. Agree with other review about hostess (never cracked a smile) - but other staff was great. Attentive and responsive. Room was OK and ambiance OK. Vegetables excellent. Desserts good. Turkey and prime rib tasty, though I would have preferred they cut the prime rib “to order.”
