Barbacco looks sleek and urbane, with a welcoming feel. The 66-seat restaurant is fitted with a rich black marble bar for counter seating complimented by a bright yellow beverage case displaying coolers of wine on one side and the building’s original brick walls on the other. The dining tables throughout the restaurant are great for parties of two and up to six. The space is full of energy and infused with a convivial atmosphere where guests come to meet friends or make new acquaintances.
Reservations are welcome, keep in mind that our seating capacity is comprised of counter space and individual tables. We will honor requests for individual tables to the best of our ability.
Dinner: Monday-Saturday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm
Valet is offered for dinner only.

Food was great, service good. Seating is crowded and the noise level is not conducive to conversation. Still, I would happily return!
This place is tiny and you are crammed into your table. Be prepared to be very close to the next table, which will be practically touching. They have wine and beer only although the offerings are plentiful. An average bottle of wine was about $90. Service was amazing even though they had to reach over you or around you to serve. It really didn’t feel that intrusive. Now for the food....simply amazing. We had the risotto, pork shoulder, lamb, and steak and all were prepared perfectly and tasted amazing.
Took my mom here. She liked it.
Food was great, just small portions (we had pasta).
Grilled octopus was 🔥🔥🔥.
Tables are jammed up against each other, so if you enjoy eating with strangers, the ambiance is for you.
Service was excellent. Our server was knowledgeable and accommodating.
I love the food here (particularly the orechiette). But I don't love how the tables are basically on top of one another. Also, our table was not ready for us when our reservation was supposed to begin.
Food was excellent. Noise level was really bothersome. Tables are way too close together. Would not recommend it if you are interested in having a nice dinner and being able to have a conversation.
Excellent food and great service as always!
I always love coming here for a nice work lunch but it is pretty noisy and can feel a bit crowded space wise. But the food is always delicious so it’s worth it
The fish of the day is ALWAYS delicious. Brussel sprouts are a MUST.
My guest and I loved the Halibut special, but the NY Strip was very tough and my husband did not eat it.
Service was excellent !
Some of the best Italian Food I’ve ever had. I can’t go back to Olive Garden now.
It was a excellent service - everything handled perfectly!
Server was attentive from start to finish, there were so many things that sounded good on the menu that we ended up ordering a lot of appetizers and only two entrées and splitting everything. It was all very good. I would definitely go back there.
Go to pre- or post-theater SF restaurant. One of our favorite SF Italian restaurants for well prepared, reliable and imaginative cuisine. Casual and lively atmosphere. Attentive wait staff.
.Terrific restaurant, food and ambiance.....................
Great lunch with friends. Friendly approachable tasty food that came fast
Fresh pasta and delicious flavors. Highly recommend.
We arrived early and were seated promptly. A few minutes later, two women were seated next to us in this totally empty restaurant. I had wished they were given another table . The restaurant did fill up and it was noisy. The service was great! The octopus was over cooked . My soup and salad were good. My husband’s fettuccini was very good. The Brussel sprouts had a bit too much vinegar. So, I would try again but really give this restaurant 3+ stars, not 4.
It’s our second anniversary
Second time here. We enjoyed ourselves. We started with the radicchio salad, it was good, but a bit too bitter for me. I had the mushroom risotto, it was very good and a large portion. He had the bucatini with seafood, he said it was very good. We had the biscotti & panforte for dessert. The biscotti was good. We did not enjoy the panforte - it was too sweet and too strong a taste of raisins, which I don't like. Service at the bar was good.
Early lunch - seated quickly but was told kitchen needed 5 minutes to get started. Strange thing to say. Seating was uncomfortable. The built in bench along wall was fine. But high stools were weird and uncomfortable. Pasta was good - perfectly al dente. Noise level - too loud for a business lunch. Couldn’t hear. We were shouting at each other.
The special past night on the first Wednesday is a good deal, but underwhelming in terms of food. I would order from the normal menu if I went again.
A nice place for a casual dinner
Tried monthly pasta dinner. It was O K! Hard time finding a wine I liked. Anchove taste previled in salad.
I have had very good lunches at this restaurant
The ambiance is contemporary and the food from our starters to dessert was amazing. Everything was fresh and flavors well balanced. Be sure to try the persimmon and apple salad and risotto starter. Their spinach pasta is fresh and flavorful. We ended the mean with the carrot cake and buttery gelato and that put the bow on the overall dining experience! I am definitely coming back!
Service was satisfactory! The pastas were bland, the salad and sides were good! Loud environment.
Great food & staff - could get a little noisy
Tasty and well-presented food options! The service and decor were nice as well. Highly recommend.
I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised. The service was good and the food was even better. I will definitely add this restaurant as one of my "go to" places.
Great food! Service could have been better, but tje food was worth every penny.
Energetic, not-stuffy atmosphere. Size of the restaurant is just right. Excellent pastas and great wine selection. One of my favorites in the city!
Butternut squash ravioli with crunchy basil was good. Pork was a little greasy but good
Excellent staff, terrific food, lively but not too noisy atmosphere. Turned out to be the perfect place for a Saturday evening dinner with out of town friends who loved the dinner.
One of my 'go-to' choices in the city when you want a low-key sit-down place in the Financial District. Service is friendly and on point Get the Volpetti meatballs and the brussel sprouts!
Have only been for lunch and I prefer it over lunch or dinner at Perbacco. Consistently great food and service. Sometimes at lunch it’s not too busy which is great for the noise but the noise isn’t so bad it ruins the experience. When busy we can still have a conversation.
We booked for 12.30. My dining companion was elderly and disabled. The seater ignored her. We were seated 20 minutes late. No apology- no explanation. Total contempt for the client. Only when told off was some attempt to provide a seat for my companion and once seated a complimentary serving of sorts was offered.
The seater and noise spoilt the lunch meeting.
This is a fine lunch spot if your reservation is for noon or if you don’t mind waiting 10-20 min past your reservation to be seated. I tried again a 12:30p lunch reservation and was seated at 12:47. This make three times in a row my non-noon reservation is v late. Three strikes...
Tried the Pasta, pasta, pasta! event every first Wednesday of the month for $25/person. We were completely disappointed in the taste and execution. The dishes were put together haphazardly and one of the pasta was raw. Not impressed. Thank goodness it’s only once a month so just order off the regular menu and you’ll be fine.
Energetic but not too noisy. Good menu variety and value. Will take more people for a casual business lunch.
Outstanding service - the wait staff were wonderful. My risotto was meh. Still, my table companions had excellent meals. Would recommend overall.
Friendly little trattoria in the financial district. The service was prompt and attentive, and very friendly. The vibe is somewhat energetic, and the seating is quite cozy, so I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a lot of space or privacy. But we weren’t, so we enjoyed the “neighborhood spot” feel. Food is very good, well prepared and portioned. The orecchiette was amazing. We started with a roasted beet salad, which was also delicious and plenty for two to share. Altogether, very comfortable and friendly with good food and a nice wine selection in the bargain!
