Barbacco looks sleek and urbane, with a welcoming feel. The 66-seat restaurant is fitted with a rich black marble bar for counter seating complimented by a bright yellow beverage case displaying coolers of wine on one side and the building’s original brick walls on the other. The dining tables throughout the restaurant are great for parties of two and up to six. The space is full of energy and infused with a convivial atmosphere where guests come to meet friends or make new acquaintances.
Reservations are welcome, keep in mind that our seating capacity is comprised of counter space and individual tables. We will honor requests for individual tables to the best of our ability.
Dinner: Monday-Saturday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm
Valet is offered for dinner only.
very reasonable prices and very good food. my server was great. little gem salad, Bolognese pasta and strip steak were delicious. I usually don't order dessert, but took a chance on the olive oil almond cake and it is to die for! if you're solo like me, you may be seated at the bar. I would definitely return
Staff training for both host/hostess and waitress needed.
They look new and not experienced
Horrible service. I would have loved another drink in the 1.5 hours we were there. Ran the wrong check at the end.
A business meal with a new employee. The food was excellent. Modified the meal for a gluten free eater.
A bit too loud for a lunch conversation, but delicious food and drink!
Just great food and service. Every time we come it is just great
I made a reservation for a table but was seated at the counter. Reservations may not necessarily be for a table - be warned.
The mussels were not cleaned property - they smelled and I found particles while eating it
Barbacco never disappoints. A casual yet sophisticated Italian experience every time.
I love Unberto, who really cares about his patrons!
Very comfortable for an early dinner. Wait staff friendly and food excellent.
Food is always good. Wish they wouldn't always seat parties of 2 at the bar
Too overpriced for the food.
The ambiance is just ok.
Played games with the reservation and would not give us a table, until I went and talked to them. Then miraculously a table was suddenly available --- they had tried to put us at a counter.
Barbacco is simply one of the great restaurants in San Francisco. The food is creative and the service is top notch. Besides that, it's a terrific value. This place is a diamond!
Food was amazing as always! Haven’t ordered a dish that I didn’t love. *knocks on wood*
Service is good.
Not the place if you’re looking for a nice quiet conversation. The tables are very close to each other and the two ladies next to us were talking so loud, my ears were literally ringing throughout our meal.
Had a weird/uncomfortable experience in the restroom this visit - a man went into the women’s restroom, walked into a stall, but peed right on the floor. Drunk, perhaps?
Everything was excellent and the service was top notch. One of the best places to dine in downtown San Francisco. I had the most incredible mushroom pasta which was homemade and so delicious. I would recommend this restaurant highly.
Our server was great. Though we had a reservation, we were seated at the bar but since the place is loud, we could hear each other well sitting next to each other, rather than at a table. The lamb shank came with fine vegetables but was colder than it should have been. Since we were hungry and the waiter didn't check in with us we ate it anyway. If I return, I'll order the chicken under a brick, a dish which is more likely to be hot when served.
The food was excellent. The service was good during the meal, but we were definitely getting pressured to hurry up and vacate the seats which ended the dinner on a sour note.
I was bummed that when I arrived with a reservation for two for a business meeting, I was seated at the counter. The maitre d' was extremely gracious and helpful, and he worked hard to make sure that by the time my guest had arrived, he was able to seat us at a table. Bravo for good service.
Loud, small tables clustered together. But good was pretty good.
Pasta was properly cooked but it was underseasoned and just not that good. Service was pretty neglectful. Not terrible but I doubt I'll be back.
We were delighted by the food, service and atmosphere. A great place to go before a movie nearby. Valet parking is helpful.
Food was great
Prefer non-bar seating, but only bar seating was available.
The presentation was wonderful, the pasta well seasoned, The portions suitable. Everything was delicious.
The steak was amazing! However the desserts are highly disappointing. My table ordered the tiramisu and olive oil almond cake. Both were brought to the table frozen and we had to chisel through them! And so you really didn't get to taste the dessert. It was just ice! It sucks because that was the last taste in my mouth after a great dinner.
Love Barbacco. The food is always delicious.
The server was absolutely exceptional, but the two women that were hosting were atrocious. Rude, immature, and a horrible welcoming experience.
Our server was very friendly and knowledgable and had great recommendations. The food was very good. The only negative was that at a table for two, if you order a lot, the table was too crowded which felt odd. Still, loved our time there and would definitely go back!
The food was great. Prices were reasonable. We would go back.
The restaurant was beautiful and the staff accommodating. Not an inexpensive restaurant. I had the halibut. Delicious. The other people in my party had shrimp with pasta. They were not impressed. On the expensive side and I would suggest if you’re not looking for the best of Italian restaurants.
Great food and atmosphere. Drinks, food and service were top notch.
Delicious seasonal selections in the heart of the Financial District, Barbacco is a great place to take a break from work.
Good food and wine menu. Nice atmosphere but a bit crowded with tables too close which made it difficult to get in and out of the table.
Absolutely excellent service with special attention from the maître d’hotel. Very good food. The salumi was excellent. Shrimp linguini was good. The orchiette were amazing. Great dinner with friends.
Serious lack of lighting, particularly in the back tables. I was really looking forward, but found the food not special. Ordered halibut, stone fruit salad...boring flavors. Great wine though!
Love the meatballs and Brussel Sprouts.
Very good in all respects. Only suggestion is to make it more clear that table reservations are for four or more.
Good authentic italian, octopus rocked
Business lunch- both had the flat iron steak- both were undercooked but we ate the edges.
We were seated at the counter, even though we had made a reservation. It was okay but would only work if there were two people.
Our meal was fine but when is the lasagna coming back? It was by far the best thing on the menu. My friend and I really miss it'.
