Business lunch. Service was attentive but not pushy. We all enjoyed our meals.
Great pasta and appetizers! Our waiter, Dario, was fantastic and helped us out with perfect recommendations. We wanted to try a little bit of everything and we were not disappointed.
Great place for an upscale Italian dinner. Creative recipes on some standard dishes.
They made my girlfriend’s birthday amazing, thank you so much.
Sat at the bar and it was very nice
We were meeting a friend who took the ferry in from Marin. The location was perfect. She was a vegan and the waitstaff could not have been more attentive to make sure to describe every ingredient to make sure there was no fool allergy and to steer away from dishes that were not possible to make vegan. The rest of the table was not vegan and the octopus was incredible. The food was good but it was the service that made the experience incredible.
Cleanliness questionable. Restaurant wasn’t aware that men’s automatic faucet wasn’t working.
Place was fun, food was fair.
The grilled octopus appetizer is very good. We had the $25 first Wednesday of the month menu. The starter was an asparagus salad which was also very good, the entree included 3 pastas and a side of roasted fennel. I liked 2 of the pastas but the spaghetti sardine pasta was too fishy. Service was fine, a tad slow but good. I have been sat at the counter both times I’ve been and don’t like it. I would prefer a regular table. Overall nice.
Great food and service
The service was extremely rushed. The staff kept trying to remove dishes before we were done with them. The waitress kept hovering over us. She brought us dessert menus and seriously came back 4 minutes later to see if we were ready to order. Very disappointing service. I mentioned my concern to the manager before leaving and she honestly didn’t seem concerned. I’ve dined at Barbacco in the past and doubt I’ll return after this experience.
Barbacco is a lovely place for dinner. Made a reservation for 8:45pm for 2 earlier that afternoon and were seated within seconds of arriving even though the restaurant was quite full. The restaurant is small but not cramped -- more of a cozy, romantic, private feel. There was a healthy buzz of conversation that facilitated a sense of privacy even though our table was quite close to the one next to us. Conversation wasn't so loud that I felt I needed to yell at my boyfriend across the table. Low light and lots of ambient lighting that added more to the romantic, trendy vibe. Waiters were attentive without being overbearing. The food was delicious and brought out quite quickly. Nevertheless it was clear that attention to detail on the plates was not overlooked. Flavors were complex and ingredients unique. Some tables were filled with people eating meals; others were just having drinks. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Had a great evening
The octopus and both main pasta dishes ver fabulous. The carafe of wine was perfect. One glass each not enough but a bottle is too much
Barbacco delivered the goods on two consecutive occasions during our recent trip to San Francisco in March 2018. Great location, inviting atmosphere, energeting and knowledgeable service, with outstanding food, both in flavor and presentation. Total winner - you won’t be disappointed!
Fantastic overall experience and food. My friend and I ordered 3 pasta dishes, 1 fish dish, the Brussels sprouts, two gelatos, and two other deserts. All were very tasty. Great distinct flavors mixed together without confusing the pallet. The service was great and the timing of the food was on point. I will be visiting again in the future.
Food, our server Davide were excellent. The noise level is almost unbearable.
It was my second time in a week to dine here. Amazing. If you go for lunch have the bruschetta no matter! At dinner have the Humboldt For cheese with wine soaked cherries! Yum
New and wonderful.
Everything was amazing, chicken liver, olives, salumi, bolognese, octopus, beets. Service was swift and attentive. Negronis were great too.
I usually really enjoy this restaurant and have come here often and brought others. But the pasta night special that they had this month once was terrible.
This was my first time coming specifically for this special and I was so disappointed and embarrassed that I had hyped it up to my friend.
Undercooked, bland, uninteresting. Very surprising. We were so engrossed in our conversation and hungry that we couldn’t be bothered with complaining or ordering something else. But it has me seriously second guessing returning. I don’t live locally anymore so it was even more annoying to have made the trek across the gg bridge for that.
Started with octopus, perfectly prepared and served, very good main courses, superb service
Our food was exceptional and server was terrific.
management and wait staff very professional and kind. Thoughtful and patient- were able to move us from bar to table and were most helpful.
The octopus was really good! But I can’t say the same with the rest of the food. I ordered the saffron pasta it was way too salty.. tasted like sea water. Then it got replaced by the risotto but that was tasteless. Not going back.
Made a reservation and they told us they were waiting on people to get up. They were there for over 3 hours! We had to squeeze into a small table for 5 people. Not that great
The server double checked our 2 item order but still delivered the wrong pasta. The pasta we did have was very good but not what we ordered.
Haven't been there in years but was underwhelmed and found it noisy and quite ordinary.
Good for everyday, not so good for special occasions due to noise level.
Slow server when we were done with service. Felt like an ignored school kid who was raising their hand.
We were very disappointed. Food wasn’t very special at all. We were expecting way more. We have been dining at some very good spots and this place did not stand out at all. There was nothing to ‘aww’ about. So many better places to spend our money. We are from out of the country and we’re on s foodie vacation.
They brought the food out quickly and were very accommodating when I asked to be seated at a table instead of at the bar despite them being packed for lunch. Excellent service!
This was our third evening at Barbacco. Once again, each dish was delicious, and our service was warm, friendly and informative. Great wine, great food, casual ambiance, always a great evening at Barbacco!
We've been going to this restaurant since its inception, and it's consistently very good. We enjoy the charcuterie/salumi, the pasta, Polpette/pork meatballs. Our server introduced us to a recent red wine addition to the menu, Torraccia Gattinara (Nebbiolo), of which we thoroughly enjoyed. However, we also ordered a green salad with beets (to share) but it was so small (we each got about 4-5 little leaves) that one of us immediately remarked about it. As a result our server was kind enough to take it off our bill. Overall, a very pleasant experience, and we'll return.
Great food, great value, poor service from waiter. Would return without question, but hope to get a different waiter.
Excellent food, attentive but not intrusive service; I was lucky enough to sit at the bar and watch the pastry chef at work, then enjoy her craft. I'd go again in a minute; top of my list for my next trip to San Francisco.
Gracious service, serious Italian food, and the best value adjoining costly neighbors (Michael Minna, Tadich Grill, Perbacco). Two blocks from Loew’s Regency Hotel (The Mandarin, updated). Menu omissions: non-alcoholic beer, tiramisu.
The food and service were outstanding. The restaurant was lively. Surprised/disappointed to be seated at a bar, since we made reservations. Overall a great food experience and I would return.
One of our "go to" dining spots in the financial district. Casual sister restaurant to Perbacco next door. Food well prepared and good Italian wine selection. Wait staff always dependable and attentive. Good value.
Great for after work. Delicious pastas and other shared plates.
