Barbacco Ratings and Reviews
We work down the street from Barbacco and had noticed a line out front before they opened one day... So we gave it a try for our monthly team lunch. We made reservations and were seated in quick order after arriving. Although the ambient noise got louder it was not hard to hear each other from across the table. I had the fish special, seared tuna (see picture), it was delicious. Service was very attentive and the dessert was great too!
The food here was fantastic. It was my first time eating at the restaurant and the menu was well priced. I got a wine mojito (pretty good) and enjoyed the brussel sprouts and grilled octopus. Together they were enough to make a decent sized meal. The service was also very good and my waiter was friendly, as were the staff clearing my dishes.
On a Thursday night the vibe was lively, but it was a bit too noisy for conversation (even though we were seated at the end of the bar, a few inches apart). We had three dishes between us, plus the amazing dark chocolate gelato. I had a seafood salad -- the flavors were great, texture perfect. My only complaint was that it was too salty.
Went to Barbacco for lunch with three friends who had never been there. All were very impressed. Dishes included the trout special served with cherry tomatoes and olives, squash soup and the eggplant sandwich. Service was friendly, but not so good. Asked for water twice; asked for bread twice; asked for extra butter and never got it. It was very, very busy. I will definitely return.
Good restaurant for a business dinner in the Financial District. The food was very good and the service was attentive and fast. For my taste the restaurant is a bit dark and we sat near the hostess's desk and the phone was unnecessarily (and irritatingly) loud. Overall very good pick in a convenient spot.
They still haven't returned the Green Ears (orchiette) to its former glory but we decided we couldn't boycott forever. Well, may be we can. It was good but not the great I remember. Probably because of the continued lack of green ears... or the tasty but not amazing dishes. Still has a particularly interesting Italian wine selection, great service, reasonable prices and an overall solid experience. Just no longer my favorite casual restaurant. Still enjoyable though.
Barbacco has been one of my go-to places in the SF lower Market area for years. The service is friendly but does not get in the way. They have a wide selection of wines at reasonable prices (for San Francisco--if you are from out of town you'll need to adjust a bit). And the food is excellent. Even though it has "Bar" in the name this is an excellent place for drinks *and* a meal . It's a little pricey compared to alternatives in the area but you get what you pay for.
We had to wait a while for our table, but once we seat down, it was amazing! The menu was fantastic and service was quick!! Amazing price for such an outstanding meal! Will be back next first Wednesday for another taste!!
Btw the salted Carmel mouse was PUT OF THIS WORLD!
We had a really nice dinner and enjoyed excellent service. The staff was on point and our waiter was very good. Great location in the financial district area and a nice option if you're looking for a convenient and tasty place for lunch or dinner. Nice menu choices, too.
The hostess was great but I felt the service was missing something. Everything went fine but it felt as though we were a part of an assembly line. The server didn't engage with us at all and it felt robotic. Not a huge criticism, but when 14oz local draught beers are $9 I would expect the service to match the pricing. The food was good and a decent value but I will never go back.
I sat at the bar for a business dinner by myself, and enjoyed delicious food and courteous service. My pasta came out super quickly - just a few minutes after my appetizer, actually - but it was perfectly cooked, and very fresh and flavorful. The portion was also pretty generous, and I took my time to eat every last forkful :) The bar seating was very close together, but I had enough room for my entree, app, wine and water.
