Barbacco looks sleek and urbane, with a welcoming feel. The 66-seat restaurant is fitted with a rich black marble bar for counter seating complimented by a bright yellow beverage case displaying coolers of wine on one side and the building’s original brick walls on the other. The dining tables throughout the restaurant are great for parties of two and up to six. The space is full of energy and infused with a convivial atmosphere where guests come to meet friends or make new acquaintances.
Reservations are welcome, keep in mind that our seating capacity is comprised of counter space and individual tables. We will honor requests for individual tables to the best of our ability.
Well priced, interesting menu. Pasta was really quite good and interesting but lacked "punch". Had to get chili flakes to wake it up. Service was really lacklustre with a party of 6 they delivered two wrong orders (pork instead of fish) which meant everyone ate except for two people who ate as we finished.
Dario our waiter did an excellent job serving us and making some suggestions.
Nick the Manager was very friendly and accommodating.
My wife loved the service and said she felt like we were being treated like Kings and Queens.
A beer and wine restaurant only but with a lot of choices from both beverages.
Fantastic food & service! Wonderful selection of wine,
Consistently the best spot for a casual business lunch in the Financial District.
Overall cute place but disappointed. The food was average at best and server we terrible. First the tables are not setup right if you put any weight in booth seats you push the table on the person across from you lap. Even being carefully I counted four times we almost lost food or drinks on the floor or laps. Server he was terrible, rarely checked on us. Waited forever to get order and only time he cared was to fill that wine glass up to get another bottle out. Food, meat and cheese board was ok. Surprisingly larger portions. Cheese was eh and meats were ok. Felt missing flavors and more mild selections. I got the Bolognese, terrible. The noodles were so undercooked they were just shy of being hard. There was maybe one tablespoon of meet, noodles were just tossed in sauce so barley had any flavor. One of the worst Italian dishes I had in long time. Now if they properly put w and meat on would have been good. The two bites of meat I could tell there was flavor but just didn’t give enough to make the dish
We were seated at the bar, my mistake when I made the reservation. It turned out to be great. the seats are very comfortable with cushioned backing and the counter is deep. It was easier to talk sitting next to each other. Our server was attentive without being fawning. Our two pastas were delicious--orrechiette with kale pesto and sausage and paccheri with vegetables. The gem salad is wonderful, and our server accommodated our request to substitute lemon dressing for one with anchovy. The bread was fresh and perfect with the olive oil accompanying it. Our server helped us find a white wine for me and a red wine for my friend. 4 stars instead of 5 for service due to our server forgetting to bring us our cannoli.
Second visit. Food just as good as the first time. New York strip was excellent. Good and friendly services. We were eating quite late and therefore the restaurant was very quiet and consequently lacked a bit of atmosphere but otherwise all was good.
Great place for lunch - always dependable and these services always prompt.
The best risotto, polenta, and Brussels sprouts!
Great food & service!
Tasty pasta dishes... location bad for parking Service was good , short cocktail list
Great date spot. Staff is very nice, ambiance is nice and dim.
Barbacco is consistently excellent. The food is delicious, portions are generous without excess, and the service is superior. Never disappointed.
Food is consistently good. But not a place to come for quiet conversation. The tables are packed too close together and they crammed 6 people in to a booth that sits 5 at best. We were there to celebrate a birthday, but our server never asked the table if we wanted dessert and brought the bill before the plates were cleared. Felt totally rushed and we were seated at the table for only 50 min.
Food was fresh and delicious. Would definitely go again and also recommend Barbacco.
Menu has changed. Less small plates available. Food was good.
The food was delicious and our server was outstanding.
Although I was sitting directly across from my guest I was difficult to hear each other talk. Not good for a business lunch if you need to hear each other.
Service could have been better. We struggled trying to flag down our waitress.
Food was good but we had to send back our burnt Brussels sprouts.
Amazing food that wont break the bank!
Nothing was bad, just so expensive for what you get.
The waiter was very helpful, but forgot the cheese that was ordered. He made it up by giving us a free desert. My family enjoyed the dinner.
We enjoyed our meal very much and I plan to eat there again. My friend who was meeting me there tried to call me to say she was running a little late but I couldn't hear the phone ring. She then called the restaurant directly and they were nice enough to let me know.
Terrific place! We had five people for an informal business dinner and it worked out perfectly!!! Very good food and very attentive servers. We'll be back!
The food was good but a bit too expensive, even for the quality. It’s way too noisy and that impacts the experience a lot. Great service, though!
Great food & ambiance. Modern & cozy, with great food and reasonable prices. Perfect-size portions. The only annoying thing was that 3 different waiters came by asking to take my plate in a 10min timespan around 9pm... I wasn't done, and just wanted to talk in peace.
Food was excellent and service was okay, they were down one server the day we went but to their credit someone from the bar came over and took our order.
Friendly and attentive service. Delicious food - shared a burrata appetizer and two pasta dishes. Would definitely go back!
The food was just wonderful. There were 3 in our party. We each ordered something different and had bites of the other dishes. They were all amazing. There was a nice wine list as well. Our waiter gave exceptional service and was great about explaining anything on the menu. Highly recommend Barbacco if you are up for great authentic Italian!
We really enjoyed our dinner the other night. Food and service were great. We will return.
Good ambiance, good food, nice servers
One of our go-to after theater restaurants in San Francisco. Top notch wait staff, good food and solid and affordable wine list. Easily accessible by BART, too.
Visited on Saturday at 9:00 pm. I set my expectations based on a few reviews and YouTube video I seen of the chief and co owner. I was a little disappointed about this place. As I walked in the restaurant had a funky fishy smell. Service was not that great from server, thanks goodness for the manager he was more attentive then the server. Bruschetta was bland I liked the twist they put on it with the peas but it had no flavor. My strip steak was a little dry. On the website they have desserts listed that they don’t serve that was a really big let down. This a restaurant I would visit again if there is nothing else to eat and I am out of options. Based on this not sure I would try the Main restaurant Prebacco.
Terrific restaurant, good food, great value for money. The staff are accommodating, and our waiter (Carlos) was fantastic (he gave good wine and food recommendations and was very attentive). We love this restaurant and would definitely go back :)
Barbacco for a business lunch always delivers. The staff are attentive however not too much so, the food consistent in quality and delicious.
Our server let us sample the orange wine and rosado wines before committing to glasses, and both were excellent. Enjoyed all the food- had the burrata, octopus, fish of the day (local halibut with shrimp and spring vegetables), pork meatballs and fried polenta batons. All delicious and cooked and seasoned just right. Want, friendly and attentive service too.
Food is great, ambiance is great and service is great. Recommend the brussel sprouts and any of the pasta dishes. Their sandwiches are also delicious.
We had a very nice time. The food was very good. Especially enjoyed the Beat Salad, Rack of Lamb and the Halibut fish special of the day. Service was a little forgetful (had to ask twice to get bread that we ordered with the meal,) Surprised that even though do not serve hard liquor that both my wife and our guest wife do not drink but often get non alcoholic (e.g. virgin drinks) and this was not available.
Service was good. Very small portions for the money. However the food was very good
Even though Barbacco is the less expensive version, it is not worth the money. The service was snooty with pressure to spend money. The least expensive glass of wine was 14.00 with not amazing choices. Your jammed into a tiny space and the food was mediocre. Nothing from the two appetizers all the way through the dessert was rave worthy. I am a local and was disappointed.
Outstanding food but the service sucked. I wasn’t super into the atmosphere either. But a cool place, I’d probably go back for lunch.
