Nice staff, amazing food
Excellent food and very hostile!
We loved every dish we ordered, so much that we ate way too much but it was worth it. Will definitely be going back. This may be our new favorite!
My favorite restaurant in the south bay! Love the soft shell crab and that tamale was so delicious!
Barrans' food is unmatched. Ecclectic and so satisfying
Enjoyed my first dine here. Unique menu - food tasted wonderful!
This is our favorite restaurant ! Amazing food , drinks , and service !
Fantastic as always.
The food was wonderful. However, the service was very poor. Before we finished out last bite of food, the waitstaff was already trying to remove our plate. We left rushed from beginning to end. It made for an unpleasant experience.
Consistently excellent. They hit all aspects of service and never disappoint. The staff work seamlessly to take care of all guests needs.
Unquestionably the best foodie menu in Hermosa Beach! We make it by at least monthly to check out the new menu items, this time choosing an endive and strawberry salad expertly combined with a lite bleu cheese dressing, a corn and poblano tamale, and a green curried soft shell crab. Exceptional service
Wow! The food the food the food! Flavors I've never encountered! All amazing! Quaint place, atteniver, personalized service, nothing fancy, but eminently comfortable and pleasant, and did I mention the food, the fod the food!!! Go!!
The food was phenomenal. Service is excellent hidden gem
Amazing as usual. I wish I could afford to eat here everyday!
It had been too long since dining at one of our favorite neighborhood gems. Way too long. But we were quickly reminded why it's at the top of our list for local favorites. Amazing food and friendly, efficient, knowledgeable service to go along with it.
I've been here several times before and the food was outstanding. This time I came in, and the service felt rushed and impatient. Additionally, the food wasn't quite as on point as it has been in the past... like, any of it. Disappointing, to say the least. I'm not sure if they were just having an off night or what it was. I'll likely be back, but if next time is a repeat of this visit, it's probably an indicator that they've gone downhill and will be my last time.
The food is amazing and keeps us coming back, but it keeps getting louder and louder. That’s the only negative.
You may drive by this place in strip mall a hundred times and not pay it notice. Trust me. Experiencing this top quality restaurant is a must for any South Bay resident. I say South Bay because we don't want this little secret to get out. I met a skier in Mammoth who raved about this restaurant and asked me if I've been when he found out I live in Redondo Beach. Everyone in the wait staff is kind and knowledgeable, the food is always unbelievable with a revolving menu. This place is perfect for date night, anniversary, first date, last date, proposal.
We love Baran's- it never disappoints. The menu always offers something new, interesting and delicious.
We went with another couple and enjoyed the salads ( Brussels sprout and a delicious green salad with endive and a light touch of blue cheese), Fried Chicken, Rigatoni and Opah fish. We could not decide which dish we liked best- they were all divine. We finished our meal with two desserts - A Coffee Toffee
dessert and a Butter Cake with sorbet. The service was on point and we never feel rushed (even though they are extremely popular) and most often booked solid. We look forward to our next visit to Baran's!
My sister, a Bay Area foodie, read a rave review about this restaurant in the San Francisco Chronicle. I'm skeptical of reviews since I got caught up and paid a shocking $700 dollars (four people) to eat at Curtis Stone's Maude. But to satisfy her curiosity, we drove to Hermosa Beach from Hollywood. Hermosa Beach? Yep. Hated the drive, loved the restaurant. The food (and that's why we eat out) is inventive and so, so tasty. Can't believe I'm going to drive again soon and this time, take some picky friends for a hugely singular gastronomic treat. Everything from the Kale salad ( I thought I hated Kale) to the sponge cake (not my favorite dessert - although may be now) was a big taste surprise. The chicken is spectacular. Ditto the short rib. Not one morsel was left between three of us. Good wine list too. Service warm, friendly and eager and it was pointed out to me that Michelin gives this restaurant a great mention in its California guide. This is one splurge that was reasonable, and I was happy to pay for it. Congratulations to the Baran owners who make their watchful presence felt in the dining room. Lovely Saturday night all the way around.
Wonderful service and the corn tamale is a meal in its own, incredibly delicious.
First visit. Found the food and service fantastic. Would prefer full bar service (only beer and wine served). Pretty small venue with bar area very tight if you are waiting for a table. Overall highly recommend!
Delicious food. Excellent service. Way too expensive!!!!!
We enjoyed it so much and told our friends who went last night and loved the experience
Lekker! Gezellig restaurantje. Wel erg druk.
This restaurant is one of the best in the Southbay. I enjoyed the food and wine. It was a cute little place that at sometime in the future will be considered one of the best in LA.
Great little gem in Hermosa. Love coming to this place and enjoying the great alcohol and food selection. Definitely worth checking out. Make sure to make a reservation since it's usually packed.
Baran's is fantastic! We live in the neighborhood and come often. The tamale and smoked & fried chicken are my favorites. They note which dishes are gluten free on the menu as well, which is a nice change from having to ask and modify. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed our evening. Our waiter was helpful and attentive. Our favorite entree was the Korean style tartar but the swordfish was also delicious!
I’ve been coming since they opened and it has been consistently excellent every time. Always interesting and creative. No wonder Michelin awarded them recently.
Great food! Like family sharing concept. Portions are on the smaller side. Ambiance was good except we had to sit at the long farm table in the middle which has chairs without backs. We were fine with the community dining concept but when you sit at dinner for a while it would be nice to have chairs with backs on them to be more comfortable, especially when paying a lot of money for dinner. Would go back for the food and service. Suggestion would be to use the same chairs/stools present at the bar for the farm table.
Just luved their homemade brea with sauce
Soft shell crab with sauce....incredible!
Korean bbq and kim chee salad the best
Portk chops very good too
Excellent as always. The corn cake tamale was such a treat!!!
Such amazing tastes in one dish each time. Note:. the dishes are smaller portions and are so amazing that they should be shared. For 4 people, I'd order 6 dishes - with one of them being a vegetable design. 🤗
Another outstanding experience. 5th or 6th time eating here and have not had any item that is less than amazing.
Nice hidden gem. The service was good and personable. The only compliant I have is the noise level. It's a small place and gets loud. They did put dampeners under the table, but they need more on the ceiling. Great Food and Wine
Baran's might be small and cozy, but the food is a giant-sized treat. We had the smoked & fried chicken and the swordfish, along with the must-have focaccia bread and endive strawberry salad. Entrees are meant to be shared, which meant my wife and I were both able to enjoy the goodness. The chicken, in my wife's words, was "the best chicken I have ever had." Given that my wife loves chicken and has had it in numerous places and in countless ways, I think it's fair so say that she is a good judge of what good chicken is. The taste is savory and sweet, juicy and tender -- cooked just right, but not like any chicken you've had elsewhere. The swordfish was cooked flawlessly, tasty and soft, but not too soft. The creative corn puree and salsa were nice touches. The service was impeccable. The wine and beer list was expansive for a small place. We were impressed...and we will be back.
Baran’s has the best food in the South Bay. Hands down. Love it.
I was disappointed... we ordered four dishes and I only liked one...
Fantastic meal, great service. The king fish crude is to die for and the butter cake is unbo. The only place to get a really good meal in the south bay.
