We had a wonderful time for a friends birthday. Food was excellent. Service was perfect. Love this place. Thank you.
It was nice
Great restaurant, Food was very tasty, plates were a little small. Although it was Good Friday and we couldn’t sample all the appetizers ( can’t eat meat). The Whole Branzino was very well seasoned and delicious. The service was outstanding, and dessert menu and coffee were very enjoyable. Worth the trip from Manhattan.
I would recommend this place in a heartbeat to anyone and everyone, cocktails sound adventurous but are delicious, food is freshly made and tasty, absolutely perfect
It was a good experience, the food was a little salty but overall great time
Genuinely fantastic place. Great food and ambience. Visiting from London and was very impressed.
Everything about this restaurant was incredible. Food was among the best Italian I've ever had, great wine list, excellent service, great ambience.
The reason this doesn't get Five Stars? BREAD. You're an Italian restaurant. Bread should be free and plentiful. $6 for four pieces of bread is a slap in the face to Italians.
Excellent service and food. The salad and pasta was outstanding.
Food and cocktails are amazing!
Fabulous interior and delicious food and cocktails.
Outstanding Italian food. Very good service. Friendly staff and owner. Overall fantastic experience
As you enter the restaurant you are hit with the beautiful smell of the wood burning oven and grill. There is a nice long bar where Fred mixes some great drinks. The kitchen is open and at the back of the restaurant. Pasta dishes are a must as a main or great to share as a starter
The branzio was chard and moist. My scallops were grilled perfectly over a tasty rise and pesto mix. Wine list is off beat so engage Fred or wine manager and you won’t be disappointed
Looking forward to heading back to Barano!
First time at this restaurant and an absolute favorite now in Williamsburg. The food was so flavorful and the prices were very reasonable. Also, the staff and service were impeccable. Great environment for a date or to bring your parents.
The GF pizza we ordered arrived burned and was inedible. We called our waiter over and he advised that it was just “charred” and was less than accommodating in having a new one made.
We insisted on it as the pizza could not be eaten. The replacement was perfectly done and do not understand why there was pushback on this-we showed him they the pizza was entirely burned on the bottom
A fantastic date night! Barano was one of our many stops on restaurant week. I am a little disappointed that they boost some of the prices to (+10 for lamb exc.) so they are almost normal prices. Slightly defeats the purpose of restaurant week, especially when most of the other restaurants dont break the $42 standard. That being said it was a great meal, we would return. The food was fantastic and the service was on point.
Amazing food, amazing experience. Highly suggest! Service was great as well!
Food was delicious. My girlfriend and I did the restaurant week menu and were pleased with everything we had. I had the meatballs, gnocchi, and cannoli. Everything was absolutely delicious. Would 100% go back.
Went for restaurant week.
For food I had the meatballs, gnocchi, and the connolo. The meatballs were unbelievable. The gnocchi was good but $29 off the regular menu is far too much for the sized portion you get. Connolo would have been perfect if it didn't have candied fruit in it.
I also tasted the chicken entree and the lamb entree, both were delicious.
For drinks I had an old fashioned which was made well. I tried the NY Stout they had which was awful and i'm a huge guinness drinker. Finished the meal with an espresso which was up to par.
Friendly service all around, although one of the male servers seemed nervous and unsure of himself when answering questions.
My boyfriend and I decided to check out Barano as part of Restaurant Week. We had a reservation at 9pm and the restaurant had a decent crowd when we walked in on a Monday, with the perfect volume of chatter. We were immediately loving the atmosphere because of the decor, lighting, and 90s hip hop playing discreetly. The host was friendly and got us a comfortable table. Our server (our check says his name is Ken, but we are not 100% sure) was very knowledgeable! Helped us pick a bottle of wine and make decisions with our food, he made great recommendations.
At some point in the middle of dinner I dropped my glass of water and the support staff immediately got to it and were very polite. Throughout the entire dinner they made it a point to make sure our table was clean, uncluttered, and we had fresh silverware and dishes with each course.
The dishes we ordered from the pre fixe menu included the octopus, meatballs, cavatelli, and the osso buco, with all of them being our favorites. Capped off dinner with their cannoli which was heaven! Best cannoli we both have every had.
Overall, we are very happy we checked out Barano as our final restaurant for restaurant week during our NYC trip.
Amazing! And Frank the bartender is phenomenal!
Best staff! Unbelievable food!
More of a young couple or group night when I was in my 30s. For Family night, a bit much, guess I’m an old fogey now. Great food, great service is.
Food was delicious, sommelier was very knowledgeable and patient. Portions were a bit small. Not good for sharing , but overall had a great time
Such a great experience! Food was amazing. Weird thing was having 4 different waiters over the course of our meal but everyone was so great!
Dec 31st evening
The restaurant is very cute and serves as a nice, date or “get together” spot for friends or family. Drinks were delicious and thoughtfully crafted. The bartender came over to apologize for the wait (not that long of a wait), which was, of course, appreciated.
The waitress was attentive and nice.
The only downside was the food. All of the pasta dishes seemed pretty mediocre for the price, as well as the overall feel of the restaurant (pasta seemed to be a huge portion of the menu). Things were a bit watery, a bit under salted and really underwhelming.
Beyond that, everything was wonderful. Unfortunately that will probably keep us from returning.
Great food. Chef is hands on and it shows. Great meal. Have been here multiple time.
The food was delicious and presentation was great. The waiter was very knowledgeable and described each plate beautifully. I will definitely comeback to try the other options
Love, love, love this restaurant! So happy that it is walking distance from my apartment. It is absolutely amazing and I will always continue to come back!
Great place. Enjoyed my anniversary here
Everything was exceptional from the service, to the meals and even the music was spot on. Will definitely be back.
Really, really good wine list. Food menu was impressive as well; trendy ingredients as the forefront of authentic Italian. I had the Cavatelli and my friend had the Margherita pizza, both were great and very generous servings. It's dark and loud, but still feels intimate.
Appetizers were good. Went downhill from there. Entrees were not very good. Service was not great either for a group of 8 who like to drink. Probably could have sold more if dropped by the table a bit more.
Exceptional brunch we’ve been here 4 times and it doesn’t disappoint every item on menu is awesome!
Always good. Great service and stafff, great vibe, great food.
It's fantastic. Both the branzino and cavatelli we're the best we've ever had, anywhere. And the starter bread and smoked mozzarella we're something special. Loved every ounce of this place.
Great food, wine, cocktails and service. Servers took special care to accomodate a gluten-free diner and to recognize a birthday. My only complaint is that the pasta combination being served in 3 bowls instead of a single larger one was awkward.
The staff was amazing and accommodating. The food was delicious!!!!! Can't wait to go back.
*Updated-12/16/18*: Have now been back several times. Food, drinks, and especially friendly/knowledgeable service are consistently excellent! You’ll love this place.
*Original Review-10/24/18*: Concise but well designed menu and wine list. We shared several dishes, each of which were excellent — the cavatelli and lamb sausage was particularly good. Service was pro, very attentive and thoughtful. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. He was also involved in the beverage program and made some great suggestions about the several amari on the list. Highly recommended, great experience!
The waiters and waitresses always know their menu and wines exceptionally well. The venue has great space and the tasting pasta menu is perfect to share. Worth getting here for happy hour too as the cocktails are great! Barano > Lilia for me
