Bar Zin Bistro Wine Bar
Probably our last night out with friends- all of us here for the winter. And of course the coronavirus situation will end eating in restaurants for us old folks for the forseeable future. We picked Bar Zin because of past good/great experiences. The food was good as always. One got oysters (rave review), 2 got beef wellington (the special) and I got halibut. My dinner was awesome - very tasty broth and served over excellent gnocci with tomatoes and I skipped the olives listed on the menu. 3 potato soups and some salads rounded out the meal. All were good, not great. Service was excellent and the wine selection (a Malbec for my husband and me) was excellent and fairly priced. Hope to be back next year. Hope all the restaurants can hang on with reduced seating and carryout through this health crisis. Thanks Bar Zin and best wishes.
For a place calling itself a wine bar, we were underwhelmed by the selections on the restaurant's list; very middle-of-the-road, with labels and grape varieties that can be found anywhere. On the plus side, the food was way better than average, and service was solicitous. Portions large enough to share or take home for leftovers.
Fabulous! Highly recommend everything
Excellent dining experience. Everything very good.
We have eaten here numerous times, but this visit exceeded our expectations. We visited with guests from out of town and they could not stop raving about both the food and the service.
Great food and wine
The menu was changed with higher prices for Concours weekend, so dishes we had expected were not available. Not a good start. The lamb shank was mutton; the portion was large with a bone too large for lamb. The mussells came with french fries for dipping. Not a good choice. The traditional bread/toast points would have absorbed the mussell sauce better. The French country salad is excellent! Also, the server brought samples of two beers so we could decide. Great customer service. Lovely decor.
excellent food..........good wine list..............but my server forgot to bring the oysters starter............otherwise, it's always a great dining experience at Bar Zin
Dillon was an excellent server.... and so enjoyable to talk to!
One of our very favorite restaurants on Amelia Island.
We like the small plates; 2 or 3 per person is about right for us.
We have really loved the scallops en croute, meat and potatoes, French Country Salad, crab salad, king chowder, summer tomato and charred onion salad, rosemary smoked lamb, and beef Wellington entree. Each and every one of these was excellent.
Excellent specials. Friendly, capable server. Loved the duck confit Alfredo.
Always interesting menu with local seafood as well as meat and non-meat offerings.
Nice homey bar & grill level restaurant with above average food & drink, attentive service at reasonable prices. There were several imaginative & tasty appetizers and a few entrees. We enjoyed the mussels and lamb appetizers and the house burger & fries which was above average. The wine list was adequate with good selections by the bottle & the glass. My wife enjoyed the local beer one of several on tap. The place was crowded & lively on a Tuesday night but not too loud to have a conversation. The check was very reasonable.
We will be back.
Good food at reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere and not overcrowded or too noisy.
Wonderful new menu and full bar. My cosmo was excellent. The oysters were fabulous.
Our server, Janet was super - we will be back soon.
It was President’s Day, overcast and cool temps. Don’t want to cook so let’s go out for great food, great service and enjoy!
We always make sure to have a meal here when we visit Fernandina Beach. Server Dylan was most helpful and accommodating. Food was excellent. We will return!
Wonderful all the way around!!
Perfect date night dinner.
The best Salmon I have ever had. My husband enjoyed the
Southern Shepard’s Pie and the Smoked Lamb Chops.
Seated on time for our reservation.
menu and food quality have deteriorated a lot since last year
We were in town for only 24 hours. Our friends took us to their fave for lunch BarZin. It did not disappoint. Our server, Banks was a pleasure. She made some recommendations. The trio salad was yummy as well as the turkey SVO sandwich. Our friends got the chowder - looked good too.
Another good experience at Bar Zin. Creative dishes and a good degree of variety on the menu. The selection of wines by the glass was solid and extensive. Our server Dillon was very knowledgable and attentive without being overbearing. Overall - a very good experience. I highly recommend the place.
Once again, dinner was perfect. We were so happy to have Cory as our waiter again! Made our night, on top of yummy escargot and the best harvest salad.
Great service food delicious and happy hour drinks were top shelf liquor you don’t see that at many happy hours!
Always love going to Bar Zin when we come to our 2nd home here. This time the menu was a bit brief and we had a hard time picking something we wanted from it. Our server was great, the wine was good.
BUT. I enjoyed the old menu without all those little plates. Little plates are fine but more salad choices and entree choices would have been preferred. I had lamb and it was nice, my husband had the scallops and did not like the way they were cooked or tasted. We both had one of the salads which were good.
Sometimes too much creativeness leaves one a bit confused and leaning towards a more simple menu.
Food was unbelievable, we had a great time. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. Tim has it fully under control!
Excellent service,, outstanding presentation, fabulous food
Addison is great, food is great, family favorite!
Loved our lunches!
Excellent. We got a newish server I think and he forgot a couple of things, but overall, service was good. Everything else was excellent. Food incredible.
One of our favorites. Food is consistently delicious and a great value. Wonderful wine list and casual comfortable atmosphere.
Excellent dinner except the hanger steak was warm not hot and we got 2 martinis which didn’t seemed a little light. Service was terrific and everything tasted wonderful. Second time there and we plan to return soon. Thank you
Always enjoy myself! Please add the short rib Onion soup to the lunch menu!
8 of us attended for restaurant week. Server was very good and the food and wine excellent!! Great options from special menu
We had their Restaurant week menu. Portions were exceptionally generous. Potato Duck confit soup was nothing like I have ever had. Really liked it and would recommend it. Steak frites, chicken entree all great - came out hot as they should be. Also recommend the creme brule. Our server was attentive and very friendly. All in all solid bistro and wine bar that you can go back to time and again.
Overall very good meal and value. Our waitress, Paula, was terrific and enhanced the experience. Give her our thanks.
Fantastic meal with some interesting twists, such as a potato soup souffle. Everything was excellent. Service was superb, and we did not feel rushed at all. Came for Restaurant Week, but we will be back!
My wife and I attended Bar Zin during Restaurent Weeek. My wife had the half roasted chicken special preceded by the French spring salad and followed by the apple crisp for desert. . I had the mussels appetizer, followed by the hanger steak and the creme brulee for desert. These were the $31.00 specials. I had heard great things about the hanger steak, so I was eager to try it. It was NOT very good. It was tasty, but tough and difficult to cut, even with a steak knife. The mussels frites were very good, but I was not given a plate for the empty shells and no bread to dip into the sauce. The surroundings were quaint, comfortable and quiet. I will go there again!
Lovely outdoor dining . Tuna and short rib dish were outstanding
