' BAR VERDE Ratings and Reviews
I loved my experience at this restaurant. Due to weather conditions I was very late for my reservation but the hostess Pam was great! She still held the reservation and accommodated us when we walked it. The service remained impeccable with the waitress Dani. She was very friendly and checked on us regularly. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the loaded nachos for starters. I will def be returning.
Got the prix fix Valentine’s Day special. At first me and my girlfriend were worried the plates were going to be small, but once the third of five courses arrived we were starting to feel full. Drinks with every course was a plus. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive.
Made reservations weeks in advance. Walked in and the tables were so close together they had to move them to let me in. Also the music was so loud it gave me a headache. I left without even ordering. Went to XYST instead which is the same owner but much better ambiance.
What a great vegan find! We shared the mango guacamole, nachoes, quesadillas and mushroom tacos. All were very tasty and decent sized portions. The margaritas were also made very well. It was quiet when we went for an early dinner on a Sunday night, and the service was very good! I would return.
Amazing food and service. The price was incredible given the amount of delicious and flavorful food. I’ve been to “authentic” Mexican restaurants before and I lived in Tucson for a while. Bar Verde is without question some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Highly recommend. I can’t wait to come back.
As a huge fan of Double zero I couldn't wait to try this place. Went on a Saturday night. Mostly the service was the problem as my waiter forgot few things and seemed to be out of it. The nachos were great but wasn't super impressed w the tacos we got. Maybe just being spoiled in NYC w so much good vegan food.
I really want to love this place. I’m vegan and the menu is so enticing. We had the nachos which were awesome. Then had the basic burrito which was solid but not spectacular and the truffle potato flautas with kale shredded on them but they were so soaked in lime juice they just tasted like lime flautas! The mango cheesecake was fine. Big thing is too stuffed with bodies when busy! We were there Thursday night at 7:30. And it’s basically impossible to talk to whomever you’re with. I’m definitely going back to try other stuff (tacos!) at an off peak time.
I love 00 and co so had high expectations. I was a little disappointed. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing (quesadillas). It wasn't extremely flavorful and I thought was pretty pricey for small portions. I like the atmosphere and would try it again for dinner instead of brunch.
The food was good. Not great. It was a full house on a Saturday night at 7:30 pm. They are on the newish side so maybe their still working out the kinks but the service was painful. I would try out his other restaurants one bike
This place finds its footing ( XYST & Double Zero)
Matthew Kenny's vegan cuisine is exceptional. This restaurant is no exception. The food is extraordinary. Fresh, unusual ingredients, great cocktails. The only problem is the lack of space, tables are crowded together, and the noise level is pretty vibrant! Great food. Will return for the food, but wish they'd free up the table space (makes dining a bit awkward in such a tight space...)
Th food was creative and delicious! I had the jackfruit tacos and my friend had the cauliflower ad they were both amazing!! We sat by the window which was nice. The lighting in the restaurant creates nice ambiance. Service was wonderful and kept refilling my water without my having to ask. Only complaint is that the tables are put so close together that my skinny self had trouble squeezing through to get up. That's a pet peeve of mine though is packing so many tables in that you are trapped once you sit. Luckily no one was seated next to us so we were able to move the table out of the way to get up. Would come back with my gf for the amazing food. Would not come back with my husband as I know the tight seating would annoy him.
Plant-based Mexican food piqued my curiosity -- "farro chorizo"? NOT a substitute for Mexican food with meat, so I'm not likely to return, but it provides a vegan variation for people who conform to that diet, and the drinks were delicious. Nice ambience, friendly service.
Enjoyed a lovely brunch with my sister. Flavors were very good for both our dishes - though somewhat similar (we were hoping there'd be more of a variety between the two dishes) - and portions were hearty. Cocktails packed a punch. I got the impression that the staff (bar, wait, service) weren't completely on top of things. I'm looking forward to going back and trying their dinner menu.
My boyfriend and I tried this place after absolutely LOVING Double Zero next door. When we heard it was the same company we were very keen on coming here as soon as we could. Our experience was underwhelming at best. The food was okay. It didn't wow us, and the portions were pretty small. The restaurant didn't seem particularly busy but the service was inattentive. We waited close to 20 minutes for a slice of mango cheesecake that never came, and our waiter never updated us to the situation. We ended up canceling it so we could catch a movie.
When I arrived it was pretty quiet. Our server, Miguel, had many suggestions. The nachos and flautas were incredible! I had a mezcal margarita that I love. The churros were underwhelming but overall I’d still give 5 stars. It started getting packed and loud closer to 8pm
I love everything about Bar Verde. From their sustainable, handcrafted cocktails to their always creative and always mouth-watering delicious food to the friendliness and attentiveness of their waitstaff to their commitment to being cruelty-free and ethical to the decor. This restaurant is such a treat. I went there most recently on a date and the waiter seated us in a cozy corner in the back. We both ordered cocktails, which were phenomenal and then shared several different kinds of tacos, each one of which was terrific and a conversation starter due to the chef's creativity. It was so much fun! I love this place.
Enjoyed dining at Bar Verde for my Christmas in New York Holiday Dinner! Flew from Hawaii to New York for Christmas and was so happy to be able to find this Gem for a nice plant based Christmas Dinner with my Hubby!!! It was hard to find an open plant based restaurant and open table helped me find and reserve Bar Verde! Enjoyed the friendly service and ambiance. We sat in a corner window seat in low lighting which turned out to be Romantic as the restaurant wasn't very busy. Great Experience. Hoping to make it back one day just for an ordinary meal. Wishing Hawaii had all the plant based Eateries as New York.
Kenney took on the challenge of vegan Mexican and was definitely able to deliver high flavor and satisfactory food. Certain things like the tortilla or guacamole that were naturally vegan didn't necessarily stand out but as the whole the meal was exciting and tasty. The restaurant packs a lot of tables into a small space but this adds for a lively, vibrant environment who don't mind tight space.
Such delicious vegan Mexican food! The service was wonderful. The food was creative, delicious, and presented beautifully. It is a small space so it is a bit crowded and it is quite noisy. That was why I gave it an overall rating of 4 stars instead of 5. It's not really a place you could enjoy a leisurely dinner. But everything we ate was fabulous! So worth a visit!!!
This was my second time coming to Bar Verde since they’ve opened. The first time I had such a great experience so I wanted to bring more friends to enjoy. Well good thing these friends are very cool and open because the experience we had was not a good one. First we waited between an hour to two hours for the various dishes we ordered. They are small dishes so they should not take so long to prepare. Then our order was incorrect and it took 45 min to correct the dish. I really didn’t want to give the dish away because I was so hungry but we ordered guac w/o cilantro for my friend who is intolerant to it. And while the food was still tasty it was inconsistent with the first time. The Cauliflower tacos were definitely different. The corn was consistent and awesome!!
Now desserts...absolutely horrible. The cheese cake that I bragged about from my first visit was totally different. The first time it was a cheese cake with mango sauce and had a creamy consistency. This time it had a different shape rectangle instead of triangle, which is fine. But the cake was frozen, we were cutting through ice and the ends were like mush, consistency waaayyy off. Also the cake itself seemed to be infused with the tart mango flavor instead of just having the mango component as the sauce, this was overwhelming and not desirable. We wound up sending it back. We also ordered the pudding which was horrible, was my first time having it so I’m not sure if it was an off night for it.
I think it best to go early in the week when it’s not busy. More time and love seems to be put into the food. I will never go on the weekend again. But with that experience it would be a long while before I consider going back.
Disappointed, expensive and nothing special. You are better of going to a regular Mexican restaurant and ordering guacamole and quesadilla there. The space is small, cramped and super noisy you cannot carry a conversation. The portions are small and nothing special. We had the nachos that barely had any guacamole , the mushroom carnitas and the cauliflower tacos. Two small tacos for $16 we little filling. I am very disappointed especially after so much hype about the place and the chef.
The food was phenomenal - very creative and fun and vibrant. The cocktails - all sustainable and earth-friendly - were equally creative and delicious. Everything felt perfect and the waitstaff was just wonderful. I cannot say enough fabulous things about our experience here. Totally loved it and will be back!
