Bar Verde brings Matthew Kenney’s passion for plant-based cuisine to a new Mexican concept with in uences from other Latin countries. Guests will be treated to an array of sharing plates, including variations on guacamoles, ceviches, chips and salsas, a full taco menu, and a large number of unique main course preparations paired with an extensive list of organic and sustainable tequila and mezcal cocktails in a warm casual environment, located in the heart of the East Village in NYC.

Got the prix fix Valentine’s Day special. At first me and my girlfriend were worried the plates were going to be small, but once the third of five courses arrived we were starting to feel full. Drinks with every course was a plus. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive.

Made reservations weeks in advance. Walked in and the tables were so close together they had to move them to let me in. Also the music was so loud it gave me a headache. I left without even ordering. Went to XYST instead which is the same owner but much better ambiance.

What a great vegan find! We shared the mango guacamole, nachoes, quesadillas and mushroom tacos. All were very tasty and decent sized portions. The margaritas were also made very well. It was quiet when we went for an early dinner on a Sunday night, and the service was very good! I would return.

As a huge fan of Double zero I couldn't wait to try this place. Went on a Saturday night. Mostly the service was the problem as my waiter forgot few things and seemed to be out of it. The nachos were great but wasn't super impressed w the tacos we got. Maybe just being spoiled in NYC w so much good vegan food.

Amazing food and service. The price was incredible given the amount of delicious and flavorful food. I’ve been to “authentic” Mexican restaurants before and I lived in Tucson for a while. Bar Verde is without question some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Highly recommend. I can’t wait to come back.

I really want to love this place. I’m vegan and the menu is so enticing. We had the nachos which were awesome. Then had the basic burrito which was solid but not spectacular and the truffle potato flautas with kale shredded on them but they were so soaked in lime juice they just tasted like lime flautas! The mango cheesecake was fine. Big thing is too stuffed with bodies when busy! We were there Thursday night at 7:30. And it’s basically impossible to talk to whomever you’re with. I’m definitely going back to try other stuff (tacos!) at an off peak time.

I love 00 and co so had high expectations. I was a little disappointed. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing (quesadillas). It wasn't extremely flavorful and I thought was pretty pricey for small portions. I like the atmosphere and would try it again for dinner instead of brunch.

Great Vegan Mexican meal! Best, freshest guacamole ever. Spicy cauliflower tacos were delicious. Chocolate pudding - rich, sinful.

Another disappointing NYC restaurant experience. Despite the restaurant not being busy, service was super slow. It took about 20 minutes for the waiter to bring us drinks. The portions here are small, expensive, and not memorable. Save your money.

Matthew Kenny's vegan cuisine is exceptional. This restaurant is no exception. The food is extraordinary. Fresh, unusual ingredients, great cocktails. The only problem is the lack of space, tables are crowded together, and the noise level is pretty vibrant! Great food. Will return for the food, but wish they'd free up the table space (makes dining a bit awkward in such a tight space...)

Th food was creative and delicious! I had the jackfruit tacos and my friend had the cauliflower ad they were both amazing!! We sat by the window which was nice. The lighting in the restaurant creates nice ambiance. Service was wonderful and kept refilling my water without my having to ask. Only complaint is that the tables are put so close together that my skinny self had trouble squeezing through to get up. That's a pet peeve of mine though is packing so many tables in that you are trapped once you sit. Luckily no one was seated next to us so we were able to move the table out of the way to get up. Would come back with my gf for the amazing food. Would not come back with my husband as I know the tight seating would annoy him.

Plant-based Mexican food piqued my curiosity -- "farro chorizo"? NOT a substitute for Mexican food with meat, so I'm not likely to return, but it provides a vegan variation for people who conform to that diet, and the drinks were delicious. Nice ambience, friendly service.

Enjoyed a lovely brunch with my sister. Flavors were very good for both our dishes - though somewhat similar (we were hoping there'd be more of a variety between the two dishes) - and portions were hearty. Cocktails packed a punch. I got the impression that the staff (bar, wait, service) weren't completely on top of things. I'm looking forward to going back and trying their dinner menu.

My boyfriend and I tried this place after absolutely LOVING Double Zero next door. When we heard it was the same company we were very keen on coming here as soon as we could. Our experience was underwhelming at best. The food was okay. It didn't wow us, and the portions were pretty small. The restaurant didn't seem particularly busy but the service was inattentive. We waited close to 20 minutes for a slice of mango cheesecake that never came, and our waiter never updated us to the situation. We ended up canceling it so we could catch a movie.

When I arrived it was pretty quiet. Our server, Miguel, had many suggestions. The nachos and flautas were incredible! I had a mezcal margarita that I love. The churros were underwhelming but overall I’d still give 5 stars. It started getting packed and loud closer to 8pm
