Bar Vasquez Ratings and Reviews
Bar Vasquez has good food, but not GREAT food. If that is really important, if you are looking for great steak or seafood, look somewhere else (just being honest). HOWEVER, if you are looking for great ambiance and service, Bar Vasquez is second to none. It's an amazing restaurant with great live music. It's a great place for any date night or special occasion.
Great service, beautiful space and great atmosphere. Had live guitar players. The food was very good. The menu was pretty meat-heavy but they were very accommodating in making vegan options for me, which I greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this place for a date or special occasion.
While expensive, this was great for our special occasion (late Thanksgiving Dinner with our oldest son). Bread basket was very nice. I had their cheese Empanada; great flavor and flaky tender crust. My husband and our son had filet mignon, which were very good. I had the New York Strip Steak, which for medical reasons, I had to have medium-well plus to well done. Flavor was good; however, there was a lot of grizzle in my steak. You can have your choice of several sauces for your meat entree; I had their homemade steak sauce, which I liked. My husband had the lime chimichurri and son had the Merlot butter sauce. For sides, we had the wild mushrooms (chanterelles) over homemade polenta and wilted spinach. The spinach was tasty and a very generous serving; mushrooms and polenta were very tasty, but a very small serving, especially for price. We had their sundae with roasted pistachio ice cream and a very fudgey chocolate with candied nuts and a dark chocolate syrup (several toppings available). Great dessert. Service was good and staff members were very accommodating to me, (in a wheelchair)(note building has a ramp and elevator). We would return often except for the pricing.
This is a very special place, indeed. The food is excellent, service is impeccable. The sommelier was also our server, and he made it a spectacular evening — including a perfect wine selection! My duck breast was luscious; others at the table were equally happy with their choices.
It is quite expensive, but if you’re up for that, go for it!
It took 30 min to get seated for an 8pm reservation. They had a nice lounge that you could wait and get drinks at by the bar. We were really hungry so it was a little disappointing but they had live music that was great. Our table was designed for 5 (we were 6) so it was a little cozy but not the end of the world. Food was excellent. Highly recommend the Cheese Croquets and the Mixed Grill. Food got cold pretty quickly which was disappointing as well. Server was nice and knowledgeable but I think there was quite a bit miscommunication between him and some of the other staff in bringing out the food and drinks (dessert was finished before coffee came out, then came out cold and then took forever to get new hot coffee). Manager was very nice, apologized, took the coffees off the check. Despite all the little inconveniences, I will definitely go back. Music, atmosphere, and food were all great!
I’m really glad to have gone to this restaurant. i enjoyed the ambiance just as much as i enjoyed the meal and my company. There was a wonderful band playing on Saturday night and it really made me feel like like we were in another country. The only complaint i had was that the food was very slow coming out but the server gave us a free dessert to make up for it. i enjoyed this restaurant a lot and would definitely return
This decor and building are truly breathtaking. The food was no comparison. Extremely overpriced, miniscule portions. Argentines are minimalists on seasoning but the quality makes up for it. The fact that I just returned from Buenos Aires 3 weeks prior and was very well fed probably left me with higher than average expectations. They did get the chimichurri right but I won't be back.
Great time there. Overall food was great. The only tricky thing is the bathroom access but since it's near the harbor, it seems standard to only have single uni-sex stalls.
Loved the live guitar music and the overall decor. It hit the balance between fancy without overbearing.
We had a wonderful dinner at Bar Vazquez for our anniversary. The atmosphere was great. A beautiful space with flamenco guitarists on Friday nights after 7 PM. The wine was affordable, the bottle prices ranged from $22 a bottle to about $50 a bottle which was very reasonable. The food was amazing! We each got a small cut of meat and split the grilled octopus. We also ordered the papas fritas as a side. Fair warning, the papas fritas come with A LOT of food. you could have easily split it between 4 or 5 people.
Staff made us feel so welcome. Great dining experience, other than our table being too close to the band. Music was well done, but it was difficult to hear our dining companions. Would suggest requesting a table on the upper level if you want a quieter spot for dinner. The food is outstanding, as well as the wine and cocktails. Just a terrific spot!
Ambiance is beautiful but went down hill from there. Got a drink at the bar. More limited selection of beer and non whiskey than I would have expected. At table had a question and when asked the "wandering" waitress she said the steak with the Asado Mixed Grill was from Uraguay where when the regular waiter returned he said was United States. We were allow to substitute the Uruguay Ojo De Bife Rib but that turned out to be a major mistake. I would say it was the worst trimmed steak I ever had. Connective tissue and fat all over the place. Also although the menu says you get a choice of chimmichurri we were not allowed any choice. When we asked for the leftovers to be boxed we wanted all the extra fat and gristle for the dogs and they did not include it. Overall extremely disappointing especially for the price.
Breads, appetizers and wine were all amazing, but the rib eye I ordered left a little to be desired. I usually buy high-quality dry-aged rib eye at home and rarely get steaks in restaurants because they're usually not better; I thought because this was a steak place and they source high-quality meats that I'd get a great steak.
My wife's main course of chicken wasn't the best either. Overall, great vibe and great restaurant, just a bit left to be desired on the main courses.
Bar Vasquez was really great. It was a quiet Tuesday, so it may be different when they are very busy, but I felt like we got so much attention. We felt well taken care of and they bought us dessert for our wedding anniversary which was so nice and unexpected. The menu is full of great food and the chimichurri salsas are really great. The only thing I would mention is that it is very pricey. So be prepared to spend over $100-$150 for two people for dinner easily. Otherwise, it was fantastic and I would definitely go there again.
We really enjoyed the setting/ambiance of the restaurant as well as the selection of food and wine. We were pleasantly surprised to enjoy live music during our meal. Overall we loved it. We had salmon and steak and both were perfect. The appetizers were also delicious! Would definitely recommend and hope to go back when we're in town again.
Beautiful restaurant with a great, authentic Argentinian menu. The staff was very knowledgeable about the food and beverage options. Went on a Friday night and there was a live band playing Argentinian music. If going for a special occasion for two or on a date, would highly recommend requesting a table upstairs along the railing.
