We went for valentine day dinner, everything was perfect from beginning to end. The preset menue was amazing, lots of choices, portions were generous, food came out on time, not too fast not too slow, can’t say anything negative. Our waiter was knowligible and very professional. We would definitely come back!
Bar Vasquez is a great place to go for a date night! Wonderful atmosphere and great wine list. We went there for Valentine's Day. The food was excellent, although was a little pricey for the value. There was a fixed menu for the Valentine's event, which we knew about before hand. Additionally, we felt VERY rushed. Although i'm not sure if that is a negative, as I'd rather feel rushed than have slow service. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about wines and was able to give great recommendations.
Valentine’s day dinner
Wonderful warm ambience with incredible food and attentive staff. Always consistently excellent.
Beautiful space with amazing food and excellent service. Great for dinner or drinks and apps.
Skip the appetizers and simply order cocktails, dinner and dessert. Every part of those experiences were delightful! Great atmosphere for a date night or reserve a booth and gather friends for drinks. We will be back!
After living in Uruguay for a couple years and coming back to the states, we were missing the flavors of South America. The food at Bar Vasquez is absolutely authentic and incredible - from the empanadas to the chorizo and morcilla to the caballero steak. Absolutely everything we had was excellent. We will be returning every chance we get.
Food was great, service was outstanding. The atmosphere and music is great.
service great-Suzanna was terrific-knowledgeable and fun-a true professional
I really like Bar Vasquez. The noise level is much more manageable than the last time I was there. Music was quite nice. Appetizers were fabulous. My octopus, however had no flavor, disappointing for a high end place. They apologized and did not charge us. Will go back.
Bar Vasquez is Huuuuge inside! They have recreated a shockingly Beautiful courtyard ambiance restaurant/bar inside an old warehouse with live music. The empanadas were tasty and the dessert was amazing; however, I felt the main dishes lacked an identity, still very well prepared and presented.
Great service, beautiful setting, outstanding food. We shared the Asado mixed grill. There was plenty food for two and to take home. The Asado is a great way to taste all their offerings for the price per person of any other selection. BTW, it was cold outside 20 degrees but not inside.
The environment and food was amazing! Perfect place for date night, girls night, really any kind of night!
Great place, trully great steak and other meats, perfect for a larger company.
Lovely restaurant We had a foursome and sat upstairs which is like a balcony. Downstairs was a band which played at a moderate noise level. Food was Argentinian in flavor and style of course. All four of us enjoyed our food immensely. The only minor complaint is where we were sitting the light level was very low. We had to use the flashlight apps on our phones to read the menu. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and correct in describing the various foods. The restaurant is a little pricey but a wonderful choice for something special. We will go back. it should be on everyone's destination to celebrate an occasion.
I really tried to like it because the environment is quite nice, but the food was simply not good. Pasta was very dry and neutral and the fat wasn’t rendered down properly on the duck breast. In general, I like the ambiance and I’m sure their drinks are fine, but the food is a serious left swipe.
Outstanding! Gorgeous interior, attentive but not intrusive service and truly fantastic food. Can’t wait to return!
Attractive setting and atmosphere, friendly and competent staff, very good food and drinks. Argentinian music quartet a plus.
Great Service and Ambiance, food was tasty but for the price, portions were a bit undersized
Nice place, great ambience...the food was ok, but over priced, I had a 12 once NY Strip steak @ $48, what came out was what I have on my grill all the time for far less...maybe next time I'll go with the bar food menu. Time to rethink some things...
Food was delicious! The service was a little off as they kept forgetting to bring requested things. The place is beautiful!
This is my second time dining at Bar Vasquez. The first was tasty, and notable but not outstanding. Growing up in NY the pricing didn't see outrageous, but I think a little bit high for the product served. I came back for Restaurant Week because I thought it was worth dining again, particularly with the pre-fixe option. My meal was fine. I had the pesto with homemade gnocchi, which wasn't particularly special. I was willing to take the hit for that, afterall, it's an Argentinean restaurant. My friend got the butternut squash soup, it had nice garnish and tasted good, but again nothing special. I then ordered the hanger steak with smashed potatoes, olive tapenade, and housemade ricotta. Steak was prepared to the temperature I requested. Food was under salted and the ricotta tasted more like creamed butter. My friend ordered the chicken in malbec reduction, the chicken was juicy. My friend came for the Rosemary Chocolate Tart, but it was replaced with a Chili Chocolate Tart. -We passed on that in favor of the Olive Oil Cake with Lemon Yuzo Gel and Pear Compote. That was the most interesting dish served. The Lemon Yuzo Gel overwhelmed the Olive Oil Cake but it was still an interesting flavor. Additionally, we ordered the chicken empanada (which I found to have a good flavor profile but was dry), and the papas fritas with malbec aioli (which were fries and sauce).
Overall, my review is that it's good, but not great. If you're looking to treat yourself to somewhere special the ambiance and service makes up some good ground for the overall dining experience.
The food was amazing! We had an incredible time. We were greeted right away and were given choices on where to sit. Our waiter on the other hand was not attentive and did not do a good job. He got my desert choice wrong and did not apologize for it or try to fix it. I think it’s because we were doing the restaurant week menu that he was more attentive to other tables. Overall the food is amazing definitely recommend it.
It was freezing!! I felt very rude but both me and my friend had to eat with our winter coats on, and another customer was wearing a winter cap.
Bar Vasquez is probably my favorite restaurant in the city. However, on this night with the temp outside around 16 degrees, it was freezing in the restaurant. The only place that had any warmth emitted from a vent was near the front door. I had a long sleeve shirt along with a fleece vest and I typically don't get cold but I was freezing throughout my meal. Lesson: Do not visit this restaurant on a chilly night but definitely do go any other time. Fantastic food and ambiance.
Appuntamento ma che te devo dj’ de li fatti miei?
Really enjoyed this restaurant! Great food and service
Best dinner I’ve ever had and I guess it was a good date too
We visited for Restaurant Week and while the food was very good and the space is exceptional the service was a bit slow although professional. We would definitely go back.
Fantastic food and ambiance. Great find during restaurant week.
The Restaurant Week menu was substandard to the rest of the offerings. The server described the fish option as a ‘white fish, mediterranean type, like Bronzino’; she refused to give a name to it when pressed further, a.k.a. tilapia?? I was pretty taken aback.
The listed Geyserville Zin from 2013 came out as a 2016. My dining partner does not like to be rude so he didnt mention it to the server.
The server was very polite and kind but did not have an intricate knowledge of the menu and when we asked her about the gin types, she retorted: ‘I don’t drink’.
I wouldn’t go back: another boring offering by the Cindy Wolfe juggernaut.
Went to Chez Hugo earlier in the week and was completely blown away: Steve Monnier is the absolute bomb. They cared even for their restaurant week menu but all their offering are poetry on a dish.
Restaurant week. was hoping for wine pairings but they weren’t part of it this year. Very good hangar steak and pasta. We’d go back. Service was a little rushed but good. If you are an olive oil fan, you won’t be disappointed
This is the case of a restaurant that started brilliantly, going downhill. What started as a true Argentino inspired experience, has lost its spark in terms of food quality (the steak isn't good anymore) and the welcoming demeanor that a true Latin establishment should have is gone. While I would routinely travel from DC to Baltimore specifically to spend time at Bar Vazquez, I'm no longer sure it's worth the trip. The ambiance remains wonderful, however the food and friendliness of the wait staff is now sadly lacking. I started the evening with what was the best part of the meal - the wine - an Acuchuyo 2008 vintage Malbec. Post first taste, I asked that the wine be decanted (the bartender seemed legitimately confused and annoyed) which was a bit troublesome for a $200 bottle of an 11 year old wine. The next addition was the pork empanadas, which still remain very good. It was followed by an 8oz filet for my guest and the octopus for myself, both of which were disappointing compared to previous experience. Lastly, they were out of the 20 year Port (easily acquirable at any decent wine / liquor store) and while the dessert sundae was decent (6/10) the alfajores (an Argentine specialty) were basically frisbees or harder. I was legitimately tempted to fling them across the restaurant to prove the point. Overall a 4/10 experience at best, compared to previous experiences which were generally 8/10 and 9/10. Perhaps the owner(s) or restaurant group are now absentee. On a positive note, the hostesses were very nice and friendly as were the valets. The bar and wait staff could use some lessons from them. (with the exception of the one bartender whom I communicated with in Spanish as my waiter and bartender seemed to forget the 350 dollar plus tab couple sitting in front of them).
Despite being restaurant week we were seated near the open kitchen area and chose off the full menu based on what we saw. The food was fantastic - salmon ceviche was delicious and just a touch spicy. The filet was perfectly cooked and incredibly flavor full. All topped off by live Spanish guitarists. Wonderful experience!
This has been my favorite restaurant going back to when it used to be PAZO. This is the perfect restaurant for a romantic date or special occasion, but also for drinks with friends. The bar and lounge area is amazing and the cocktails are great!
The beginning of the evening began rather great. The waiter was quite accommodating. The meal started out fantastic until several bites, I notice the chicken I ordered was not cooked well. Of course, the waiter provided another of the same meal which was cooked better.
I have been urging my friends to try Bar Vasquez and managed to lure them with a photo of the featured cocktail for January. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we are especially grateful to the hostess for allowing us to sit upstairs where it was warmer. We were able to easily catch up on news and goings on in a very comfy environment. I can guarantee we will be back.
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. It was both our first time and we weren't disappointed! Inside was gorgeous—even the bar area was a cool spot. As expected in most fine dining restaurants, the apps were on the smaller size but everything was delicious. I also wish they did something special for his birthday, whether that was a small free dessert or even a candle from him to blow out. Other than that, it's a great spot for a special event.
We celebrated our 9 year anniversary at Bar Vasquez this past Saturday. We had a phenomenal time - atmosphere, ambiance and most importantly the food and drinks were amazing! We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a special date night out with their significant other.
Food was amazing along with the fantastic music. Our waitress was extremely attentive to our needs and make special accommodations for our 18-month old. I can't wait to eat here again!
