Awesome!! Food was great, service was exceptional. Drinks were on point!! Must try the octopus dish!!!
Bar Takito was a disappointment. We had reservations for dinner prior to a concert at the United Center. We were ushered to a very small table with small red metal bar stools in the back of the restaurant. There were a lot of regular tables with chairs that were empty. When I asked the hostess if we could be moved to one of the many empty tables, due to a knee injury, she said they were reserved for large parties....we were five. Those tables were still empty when we left.
We ordered the paella which is enough for two, however it is not a traditional paella. The rice was crunchy...two minuscule clams...three small shrimp...smoked octopus was interesting, but rubbery...it was extremely spicy.
The one positive was their house margarita.
Food was excellent and vibe was great. Open concept created loud environment.
Thanks nice time
Why are tacos two minimum of any type? What if I want to try multiple? Never been to a taco place that does that.
Everything was awesome! Have been there several times and keep going back
Food delicious!! The service was slow slow I mean slow! There was 1 waitress for outside seating! I go in and see her helping inside tables as well. I don’t care how good food is I’m a stickler for good service or at least an apology bc I do understand that things such as people calling off happen. Since I got neither this will go on our been there done that list.
Very pricey food that was just ok. Have had much better food for much less money. service ok.
Great food, but is pretty quiet in Sunday’s
This is a super cute place to go out with friends. My friends and I went before a concert at United Center and it was fast and delicious. I got the cheese tacos and they were very good. My friends enjoyed the chicken tacos. The guac was also delicious. They have happy hour that was a super good deal. $8 margs and select $6 tacos. I would recommend this place for a fun place to get margs and tacos!
I would definitely return again. I went to brunch with a bunch of my girlfriends and we absolutely loved it. The food was excellent and our server was very patient, kind and knowledgeable about the menu. Also while the weather is still nice, sit out on the patio, it was fabulous.
Our waiter was fabulous. The drinks were made well! I wasn't really a fan of the coconut tacos. The Papa fritas were delicious!
The food is great tasting but the tacos are small for the price. Guacamole is to die for but for $15 - your looking for more. If you sit outside the El is within 20ft and passes every 5 minutes so you have to stop talking until it passes. Our waitress was extremely slow, didnt come back to see what we needed as much as she should have. Rif-raf walking by asking for $. Suggestion: dont go real hubgry and sit inside.
This was my first time at Bar Takito. We oath ordered the Rose Sangria which was very refreshing. We started with the avocado purée guacamole which was delicious. It was taco Tuesday so we were not required to order our tacos in pairs of like kind which is the norm. This allowed us to try 6 different tacos. We loved them all but the crispy fish and coconut shrimp came out on top. We sat on the patio which was very enjoyable as the weather was cooperating. An overall great experience and we will definitely be back.
Tacos were good. Had the Lavender flan, and me being the biggest flan lover, i was excited to try this! Well i was a bit disappointed since it really did taste like lavender, like a lot! The flavor was so powerful i wasnt able to finish it 😩. I rarely leave food on my plate. I love the concept tho, just maybe tone down the lavender extract a little.
The place has a very nice vibe. The drinks are good but overpriced. Overall bar Takito feels overpriced for the food and drinks they r serving. I most likely would not come. There are nicer places in west loop that have better offers.
The spicy cucumber margarita is really great. Tacos are delicious as well.
Good food...wait staff was nice, but not very attentive.
Went for lunch. The tacos are basically 2 bite sized and come in portions of 2. I would suggest ordering at least 4 otherwise you will be hungry. Not very intuitive as they present them as meals. Also for some reason they only make them in portions of 2. I would think a taco place would let you mix and match.
I think they should provide salsa free of charge like other Latin / Mexican style restaurants.
Overall great experience, been a few times, enjoyed it every time.
Overpriced. Food was great but very expensive even for west loop. Also, we ate outside but got a glimpse inside. Indoor seating looks uncomfortable and not inviting
Fun drinks, good food
Delicious food in a fun part of the city. Portions are a little small, but did not disappoint our pallet.
It was Taco Tuesday and they advertised $ 4 tacos, but when we received the bill, we were charged much more per taco. When I questioned this, they said that not all tacos were $ 4. I asked why their literature said all tacos were $ 4, and the waitress said " Oh, yeah. Customers have been complaining about that." Then she asked if I wanted her manager to adjust the bill. Which they did. Poor service. Tacos were good. I won't go back, though, because of this bad experience.
Twenty minutes before our reservation (we had just arrived at the location), Bar Takito called and informed us they were closing early due to an undisclosed issue. They did offer free drinks at their sister establishment but did not guarantee seating at the sister restaurant. The sister restaurant was in a different neighborhood. Given that it was 7:30 on a Saturday, it was unlikely we would have been seated at the sister restaurant. We went to a different restaurant, Cruz Blanca, that managed to seat us without a reservation.
Please accept my personal apology. That was one of the most difficult days we've had since being in business for 5 yrs. We had a plumbing issue (ladies bathroom) that occurred at 6:30pm. Rather than risk health sanitation issues I (owner/operator) made the difficult, yet necessary, decision to close the restaurant on our busiest night of the week. If you'll allow me to invite you back, plz text me, and I'll reciprocate with a compelling invite: Mario (cell) 312-919-0929
Appetizers and drinks were solid. Service at the bar was slow and nonexistent on the patio. We left the patio after 15 minutes because no one waited on us, and we couldn’t even spot a server outside.
Peter, that level of service is unacceptable. I would haver been disappointed to. Please accept my apology, and allow me to provide recompense. Please text me, and I'll respond with a compelling invite: Mario (cell) 312-919-0929
Food was tasty, and drinks were made well. Service was pretty terrible. Ignored by the bartender for at least 15 minutes even there was only 1 other couple at the bar. Had to wait an additional 20 minutes after our reservation time for outdoor seating, which would normally be fine, but at least half of the outdoor seats were empty upon our arrival and it only thinned out from there.
Good food and drinks, but not worth the price and lack of service.
Great place for the summer, if you can snag a table outside, must be reservations only as they would not allow us sit there because we didn't specify outside, even though some tables remained empty the whole time we were dining inside which was empty. The food was really really tasty, the drinks great. Would definitely return.
It says on the website that the restaurant closes at 8 pm. Our reservation was at 2:15 and they were doing last call for drinks and food. We were asked to leave at 3:00 pm.
I'm extending my personal invitation to apologize personally. Mario (owner/operator) cell: 312-919-0929 (pax text)
Food was great. Fun time with friends.
The tacos were wonderful. Loved the sauces and spices. Sat outside which was lovely.
Taco Tuesdays are great and allows for you to try a single taco from their vast menu (any other time they have a 2 or 3 minimum on each type of taco).
Drinks are simply outstanding! Refreshing and worth the price. Always a good time. Thank you Bar Takito.
All around great experience! Keep up the good work ! Chef great plate presentation as well !
Great food and fun live music. Very loud and hard to talk.
Food is way overpriced for the quality and quantity. We ordered the coconut shrimp tacos (2 per order) coming to $11. The tacos were SO SMALL. The rest of the food was fine. Our server was not attentive and we ended up having to go inside of the restaurant to close our tab. We ended up staying for one more drink after we flagged him down. Last, once it became dark, the green L train lights came on. Get some shades on the inside. It totally ruined the vibe.
Service was unbelievably slow and the food and drinks were underwhelming - especially for the price. Outside of the outdoor seating, there’s not much redeeming about Bar Takito - esp with the options in the area.
I’ve been here a few times for dinner and loved it but this was a disappointing visit. We came for brunch on a Saturday. Our server was probably provided us with some of the worst service I’ve ever had in the city. It was not very busy so we don’t really understand why the service was so bad. However, our server was not very attentive, hardly checked on us, we had to ask several times to get drinks, condiments, etc.... at one point someone in our group just went inside to get what she needed. Two girls got the bottomless mimosas. They had to ask our server to refill it but since he was so slow they didn’t get many within our time there. They were also very heavy on the OJ. However, The busser was on top of his game.
Most people enjoyed their meals and drinks. The watermelon margarita was delicious. A few girls had the salad and topped it with coconut shrimp. They said it was amazing. Everything else was just ok: chilaquiles, steak/egg toast, chicken tacos, pineapple margarita, etc...
This restaurant caters to a young crowd.
