Bar Takito is like a tuxedo T-Shirt - it wants to be formal, but go here for some tacos, drinks, and to party.
THIS IS OUR THIRD TIME THERE AND THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT. WE HAD THE SAME WAITER EVERY TIME WE BEEN THERE , LOVE HIM.THANKS MATT. GREAT TIME.OVERALL EXCELLENT STAFF.
Great location in West Loop that was able to accommodate a large party during the early afternoon. Great service -- would recommend!
Regardless that the night we went to Bar Takito to have dinner there was no octopus left (and that is what we really wanted from the menu), the excellent waiter who served us recommended great options for us, we ended up having a deli dinner, and nice drinks (my cocktail was super sweet at firts and he made it fixed with the bar tender). We really enjoyed the place, definitely will come back!
Food was delicious. It was a bit loud but ambiance was fun. The shrimp cone was amazing. And I had the octopus as my entree. Our waiter was attentive enough and when we asked him to take a pic he even recommended a place for us to pose and made us look good! Can’t wait to be back to try other dishes!
1st time there & it’s was great. Food was different from other places that makes it unique. Almost everything is made there. Their cucumber margarita is amazing
Good food. Interesting ingredients. Very good margaritas. Great for happy hour.
The food was amazing! So many flavors in every dish we tried. The service was top notch, even on a busy Saturday night. Will definitely return.
As always, a great time. Food is reasonable. Drinks are a tad pricey, but fairly strong so not the end of the world there. Service is typically very good too.
Never expected it to live up to other reviews - had outstanding waiter....cannot remember his name or busguy, but even the owner poured the waters. Seems this is a team effort to make outstanding food, drinks and inviting atmosphere. Queso fundito, pork belly tacos, salad, guac....wanted cerviche but no room! Not a margarita person but omg...the tropical amd coconut...and the spice was kickass! Really underrepresented in this sea of good restaurants. Will surely be packed soon!
The food was great !! I definitely recommend the ceviche trio. The octopus la plancha was yummy as well. I loved the cucumber margarita but the coquito was not good
Band was way too loud
Excellent tapas, really great cocktail offerings, and in a great location.
We went here on recommendation for my sister’s birthday. The food is not worth the price. We did not like any of our drinks, which were expensive and small. The place is too loud. Can’t even hear someone talking next to you. The whole experience was mediocre at best.
Great jazz music! Gourmet guacamole. Superb ceviche! Outstanding service from everyone! And we found a parking space!
Bar Takito is a very fun environment for both friends and business associates. I have brought both individuals and large groups to the restaurant in a business setting. One of my events was a very successful wind down after a very intense day of business discussions with a prospective client in the typewriter room. The menu is unique and perfectly executed. Most importantly, the service experience is over the top excellent. The passion of management clearly shows through the service staff.
Matt the waiter was very helpful and made great suggestions. Food was excellent. Will go again. Price was fine.
We visited this restaurant during Chicago restaurant week. The hostess was expecting us and seated us upon arrival. They were very courteous. During restaurant week, we were able to order an appetizer, entree and dessert for $33 a person. My husband ordered the papas Fritas and I ordered the pineapple guacamole for our appetizer. The papas fritas were different than normal French fries. It was round cuts of potatoes with cheese sauce. The guacamole was pretty good. For the entree, we ordered the skirt steak and ropa vieja tacos. The steak was very tasty and a bit spicy. We like spicy so that worked. The ropa vieja tacos were came with shredded brisket, but it was not as flavorful. For our dessert, we had dulce de leche. The dessert was not very good at all. We did not even finish it since it was not to our liking. We did have a Takito Margarita and a Mojito. The drinks were just okay as well. Overall, the food was okay, the staff was great and the ambiance was fantastic.
Good service, great food (wish you could mix and match tacos though!). Solid margaritas and good prices. Would definitely come back again.
Great customer service! Food was really good! Good place to relax.
This was a top 10 meal of my life? Best guacamole EVER! The food was so flavorful. We had such a great time! The staff was so attentive and friendly. We can’t wait to go back.
Came for restaurant week so had a limited menu but everything was very good. The esquites were so delicious and the tacos were different but in a good way. Also got to sample a few desserts and everything was so good. The bottomless mimosas had a lot of pulp so if you’re not a pulp person, just be aware. Really cute ambiance though and our waitress was fantastic.
The service was superb. Our waiter provided great recommendations and suggestions for sharing and opportunities to try other dishes. The service was prompt and courteous. The atmosphere was energetic and fun! The food was very delicious and amazingly tasty! My husband and I enjoyed dining on restaurant week with great hard to choose selection because everything sounded good! I would definitely come back again.
Lunch was delish, service is always great - tacos are amazing and with a twist.
Really, really delicious good and cocktails! The crispy fish tacos are amazing, with the coconut cream. Also, the harvest salad is wonderful, with pumpkin seed brittle sprinkled about.
Bar Takita had great food but unfortunately the server we had was terrible. It literally took him 20 - 30 mins to come back and check on us and take our order. Also when our food was brought out they only brought a portion of it and we had to wait a few minutes for the last dish (it was weird because we were a party of 3). The lighting was very dark, almost too dark to see the menu.
THE PLACE HAD SUPER LOUD MUSIC THE WHOLE TIME WE WERE THERE SO WE DECIDED TO ORDER RIGHT AWAY.APPETIZERS WERE GOOD GUACAMOLE,PAPPAS FRITAS AND THE STREET CORN WERE EXCELLENT THE TACOS WERE SKIRT STEAK AND PORK BELLY,WITH JUST ABOUT NO MEAT BUT PLENTY OF SAUCE.SERVICE WAS GREAT.WILL NOT GO BACK.
My boyfriend’s chair broke underneath him and he didn’t even get an apology from the manager or server. They simply brought him another chair. My boyfriend was much nicer than I would’ve been in that situation. I understand these things might happen but I at least expect some concern from the staff in making sure he’s ok and an apology. Mind you, he’s not the slightest bit overweight and is an athletic person so he fell “well” whereas other people might’ve actually been hurt more seriously had this happened to them. We won’t be going back because of the poor customer service. Otherwise the food and drinks are alright but overpriced...nothing special.
This place never disappoints always great food drinks and service. Oh and it’s a plus that it’s Gluten Free .
Looooved this place. Everything about it was great. Customer service was great as well. Skirt steak tacos are delicious!!!!
Fantastic tacos and amazing tequila selection!!! Can’t wait to go back!!!
Loved the food! Ambience was also nice and relaxing
Food was tasty for sure but it felt like not enough for what was paid.
Great service and better food!
Good and ambiance was good, our service was awful. She was slow and rude. We had to ask for our check twice. I think she knew she was doing poorly so she went ahead and gave herself a 20% tip included on our check. Would not recommend or go back based on that experience.
Well, I think this place is a bit over priced with thier guacamole... It was a small bowl for 11.00... A table of 4.... We were a bit shocked....
We had both our kids with us and for the wait staff was helpful. They make good drinks with nice tequila and they have an exceptional Mezcal selection. The tacos were orginial and fantastic.
I brought my office team here for lunch and was very disappointed. I have dined at Bar Takito before for dinner, and it was much better then. The primary problem was the staff: their first response to everything seemed to be "no." No, you cannot move your reservation 15 minutes earlier because we have a large party coming in. By the way, we were virtually the only ones in the restaurant for awhile. No, you cannot sit in real chairs with backs until you insist upon it, keeping in mind the restaurant was less than half full the entire time we were there. No, you cannot have an extra basket of chips unless you pay $1.50. $1.50?? Whose idea was that? No, you cannot leave your coat on the empty chair, and we are going to hand them to you and not offer to go hang them up. The food was just okay -- seemed a bit sad. Not at all like dinner the previous two times I was there. It was slightly embarrassing to bring my team there. (By the way, I have never written a negative review regarding any restaurant. That's how motivated I was about this experience.)
I’ve been here twice. Once for a date and once for a group dinner. Food is great and venue is charming. Good for all occasions and even better with a group so you can share multiple plates.
This place was amazing! There is a wide variety without the menu being overwhelming. I highly recommend!
Some friends and I decided to check this place out for dinner. Our waiter was really nice and awesome. The drinks here are great. My only complaint is the prices. This place is a tad pricey for what you’re getting. The tacos my party and I ordered were not worth the amount we paid. I’d say come for the drinks and maybe a starter (highly recommend the queso and corn truffle), but for a full meal I’d recommend going somewhere else.
