What Insiders Are Saying
Bar Takito is like a tuxedo T-Shirt - it wants to be formal, but go here for some tacos, drinks, and to party.
Popped in for a lite bite. Enjoyable staff was eager to please and provide quick food. Almost too quick.
All day mimosas area deal, but the abbreviated menu will delight.
Terrible service. Had to move our table twice because of the noise level of large groups. We couldn't even hear each other talk. Ordered a drink at 5:50pm - during happy hour. When we got our bill the drink was $15.50, instead of the happy hour price of $6. I asked the waitress and she said "Well, I didn't put it into the computer until after 6 when happy hour is over so that's the price." Wow, great customer service. P.S. I would NEVER order a tiny margarita for $15.50. That being said, the spicy cucumber margarita was delicious, but not worth the price. Our bill was $80 and we left hungry. I would never go here again.
Great, delicious Mexican with a twist brunch spot. We sat outside for a couple of hours and had a great time.
Big drinks, great food, great service. Great for a special occasion or birthday.
I went to Bar Takito a few weeks ago with a friend and it was pretty empty that Saturday morning. Our food was great, great service - I told all my friends I thought I had found my new favorite brunch spot, especially with $10 bottomless mimosas and amazing food. Their patio is adorable, especially in the summer.
I had friends in town this past weekend so I made a reservation to go back as a group. It was a lot more busy on Sunday during brunch and we had to flag down our waiter several times to order, ask for mimosa refills (after waiting 10 minutes with an empty glass and our waiter passing the table without noticing several times). One friend joined us a bit late and ordered after the group did, but the food never came. He asked after 30 minutes and the manager apologized and said his mimosas were on the house - but cancelled his order instead of giving it to him on the house. Overall I’m really disappointed with the service this past visit, but may give it another try.
Celiacs and those with a gluten sensitivity- please read this.
Menus says it is gluten free. I asked about that and was told 2 dishes on the menu have gluten and that, as someone with celiac disease, I should avoid them. Why the menu as a whole is labeled gluten free, I have no idea. They brought out guacamole and chips. I asked if the chips were gluten free and was told yes. I asked if they were corn vs wheat and was told corn. I asked if they were fried in a fryer with items that had breading on them and was told no. That nothing else is fried in the fryer. I ate 3 before the server rushed over with vegetables for me to eat rather than the chips. Manager said chips are cross-contaminated at the manufacturers, not in-house, with gluten in a fryer. I felt sick from a gluten reaction for next 2 days.
This was the 3rd time I've dined here. We sat on the patio. They manage to create a nice ambiance on the patio despite being right under the train. It gets congested with foot traffic crossing between the patio and door that the servers are using. The servers also struggle to get past guests using the same door. This seemed to cause a delay in service just dealing with the congestion. Besides that our server was great she made sure we got in the happy hour specials before it ended. She got us different drinks when we didn't like the first round that was recommended. So over all the food and service was great but the location seems to do them a disservice.
The food is excellent here, but the service wasn’t great. We visited early on a Friday after work, and the restaurant was maybe half full. It took our server nearly 15 minutes to come and take our drink order, then another 20 minutes for her to come back and take our food order. She seemed more interested in chatting with the bartender than checking on her tables...
Great place for a group of friends. Happy hour margaritas were delicious!
Amazing food and environment but the red metal seats are so uncomfortable. Almost unbearable
Great place for group dining/drinking. Fun cocktails and good food to share.
Despite being one of the only groups in the restaurant, our tacos took ~45min and were cold. The waitress was not attentive. The only redeeming part was that since we only had two tacos each, it was an affordable meal, and the margaritas were great.
Terrible service and the wait staff takes forever to assist you. I won’t be returning any time soon
This place had no A/C, my date and I were sweating the entire time. Service was okay but on the slow side.
Service is slow but I’m not sure why
The restaurant was HOT inside. Granted, it was 100 degrees outside, but the A/C could not keep up and everybody was sweating.
The waiter tried to convince us that the happy hour special listed in the menu as being valid Monday-Friday were not valid on Fridays. He was basically trying to scam us. And after that, he screwed up our order.
Food is spicy!
Great but every time I come back the price is more for fewer tacos per order.
Horrible service. Our waitress never checked on us. They even forgot one of are taco orders. However, the manager did then come over and comp part of our meal because of the forgotten tacos.
The chips were stale, but the guac was good.
Upon entering 4 staff members where there looking at the computer, menus and looking around making sense of seating and the evenings details... as we just stood there w reservations waiting to be seated. 3 walked away one kept looking down and seemed frazzled. We walked away and sat ourselves. A waiter walked over and gave us our menus and water... he was great! The drinks were Great! And the food Amazing!! Wonderful Happy Hour...
Beautifully decorated patio, lovely mixed drinks, and a thoughtful menu guarantees a great experience here every. single. time. Love this place!
The food was fresh and delicious. It left me wanting more. I would definitely recommend and go back again. The manager took his time to come to our table to thank us for bringing our kids. A place that makes you feel welcomed and good service will always have my business. Thank you Bar Takito for your hospitality. You made our experience memorable.
The food is delicious and was enjoyed by my entire family (including boys ages 9 and 12). We started with the guacamole, which was delicious. We decided to order 3 different sharable plates and were not disappointed. We ordered seafood paella (divine), octopus a la plancha (seasoned to perfection), and grilled steak arepa (delicious). Each dish came separately, and I wasn't sure if it would be enough food after we quickly devoured the first item- octopus. The steak came next, and that went fast as well. I added a couple of taco orders (fish tacos and steak tacos) just in case
The seafood paella was the 3rd and heaviest dish. It was probably the best paella i've ever had with big chunks of seafood, vegetables, and served on the most delicious black rice. After having the paella, I realized that that would habd been enouhj food. The tacos came and each of us had 1. The fish taco was delicious, and we were all stuffed.
I'd go back and try a few more items next time around.
The service, ambiance and food was fantastic. We originally had a table with stools but had grandparents with us, therefore they accommodated us to have a booth. Great experience.
Great food and cocktails. Fun environment. Nice patio space too!
Never going back!
Our server was nice, but service in general wasn't great and the food took forever.
Great food & service and overall experience. Best to cab or public transportation. Parking a challenge. L stop at corner. Live music was entertaining.
Great happy hour margaritas, excellent service and food.
Food was great!
Tacos were cold. Service was bad.
We sat outside and were served quickly and well! The HUGE chips were amazing, along with tasty, zesty salsa.
Great food and great drinks! I took my wife and three sons whose age ranged from 13 to 4 and the server was very accommodating.
Really limited menu on the weekends. It smelled really strong in there which ruined the otherwise decent atmosphere. My party and I ordered one app before deciding to leave
Great server, extremely attentive. The food and drinks were fantastic as well. Highly recommend
I have dined at Bar Takito once for before for dinner and once before for happy hour - both were great experiences. However coming to Bar Takito with a large group for Cinco de Mayo was a huge mistake. The dining quality was severely diminished, with appetizers and main dishes coming on paper plates and in cups. The serving sizes were also a huge rip off. Would not come here again on a holiday!
Great food and drinks and waiter was super helpful. it was a tad loud
Cool looking restaurant.
Very small portions of food-even shared plate meals are tiny.
Pricey for the amount of food and drink.
Service was hit or miss-they either weren’t attentive or they rushed in and cleared plates we were still eating from.
Great food. Plan to share tacos as you have to order 3 of the same type. Our waiter wasn’t bad, but you just felt like you were hassling him simply placing your order. Wish they did margarita pitchers.
Restaurant had great energy though, definitely plan to return, just hopefully with another server.
Let's start with the good...Bar Takito has CRAZY good food. Every bite was absolutely delicious, and we really enjoyed ourselves. The cocktails were also very nice. The one thing that was a bit of a drawback, especially at a higher price point, was our VERY inattentive server. He took our drink order and about 15-20 minutes later we flagged him down to order food and then literally did not see him again until 20 minutes after we had finished our food, at which point we flagged him down yet again to ask for the check. It was almost strange how MIA he was in such a small restaurant. We are really not high maintenance people, but this was pretty off-putting. We will be back, though, and are hoping this was a fluke!
