What Insiders Are Saying
Bar Takito is like a tuxedo T-Shirt - it wants to be formal, but go here for some tacos, drinks, and to party.
We arrived and were told that they were understaffed. If we wanted to stay we could sit at the bar and the wait would be long. We left to find another restaurant.
I would recommend it only for the mimosa deal that is offered on the weekend. Unfortunately my experience with the food wasn’t great.
I really enjoyed having brunch at this place. Especially when you want to go with a big group, this place is very accommodating. The only issue I had was that my service was slow. Staff was friendly and the owner is super friendly too but I think they were understaffed or something that my food took 2 hours to come. The bottomless mimosas helped.
Bar Takito was a good experience for a birthday dinner for a friend. They easily accommodated a large group of people. However, splitting the bill was not easy to do.
Excellent food and drinks! The service was fantastic. Definitely coming again!
This place is amazing! I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner of the restaurant and I could immediately tell that his only focus was on the customer experience. This restaurant has amazing margaritas, great food, and a delightful ambiance. Would recommend to anyone traveling in the West Loop.
Might have just been an off day but took 55 minutes to serve our salads with grilled chicken. Also had to remind server of the beverages we ordered. Food was very good.
Brunch with my Nephew who just took a job in Chicago. He loved the place and I did too.
The food was so delicious. My husband and I just stared at each other wondering when the last time was we had such good food.
That place ~rawksssss~
Wonderful engaging server, Rena. Food was nicely presented and tasted very good. Water glass never got close to empty.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere
We went for National Margarita Day. The drinks were great and the food was very good. We had several different tacos. They were all very good. Most surprisingly good was the veggie taco.
The restaurant was really loud and energetic, but we enjoyed ourselves.
It smelled of bleach. That is never a good smell when I walk into a restaurant. It should have wonderful food smells. This place was average.
Very fun place for dinner and great service. We actually had our teen daughters and they loved it. On the flip side, a bit expensive.
Had the "Liquid Lunch," which was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I recommend the Chicken al pastor tacos and Cucumber Margarita (spicy).
Good food/ambiance but overpriced.
$10 mimosas cannot be beat and you’ll never not have a full jug of water on your table!
Small portions, mediocre service, good cocktails. Definitely on the pricier side for portions that were really small. Wouldn’t go back.
Always delicious! Service never fails to be spectacular!
Food was good, but the service was fantastic. Whomever passed by would attend the table. The ambiance was great too, trendy area, live jazz band at 7:30, that added to the night
It is unfortunate that this place cannot get it's service level to improve. Our server was trying her best but the crowd may have overwhelmed her. We had items from the brunch menu and they weren't bad. Would be nice to incorporate a children's item or two during brunch. There were several children in the restaurant that clearly wouldn't finish a traditional plate. I would recommend going for dinner. Bottomless mimosas is the only draw on Sundays.
The food is always great but the service is typically lacking. We ordered our second drink before our meal. We didn’t see our server again till we almost finished eating and at that time she still didn’t get our drinks for another 15 mins. No apology for the lack of service nor an offer of anything.
Cute spot with great food!
Food was cold
Great service, amazing food and highly recommend the margaritas!
Love love love this place!!! The Sunday bottomless mimosa special and brunch is amazing! I had the egg white omelette- if you like salsa verde, this is a must! The corn is by far the best Mexican corn we’ve had. It is well worth it if you have a group to share with. Everyone was satisfied with their entrees. The portions are huge! Can’t wait to go back!
The food was amazing, best margaritas, and the staff was so unbelievably nice! Our waitress told us it was only her second week and would’ve never guessed! Amazing service & will definitely be back!
The food is good, but the service was rough. Our meal was three hours long, drinks and meals came out staggered and super slow. I felt like Big Star has better food, service, and prices.
Everything was great but no Valet
Love this restaurant! Great for a date or meeting up with friends.
We have had excellent service & great food every time we come in. I will absolutely recommend to friends, especially the brunch specials.
Our server Wesley went out of his way to make us feel welcome and ensure we had a great time. He definitely made the experience stand out.
The service was nice, but I had put in my OpenTable that we were having a celebration and nothing special was done. It is also very pricey: We asked the waitress how big the tacos were and how many we should order and she said two is enough as they were "normal sized." In reality, they were actually very small. For $4+ per taco, this is not a good value. The margaritas were good but not very strong (I don't like too strong of drinks either) and had a lot of ice in them.
Food was good but the service was not. They add gratuity for groups larger than 6, so I don’t think our server was too concerned about service.
Service is very slow and extremely impersonal. It's also VERY loud.
A little disappointed in the service tonight by our waiter Christian. The other staff were very good though. We ordered two appetizers, guac trio & esquite, both requiring chips. We asked our waiter for more because there were 3 of us and we ran short and still had about a third of each appetizer remaining. He never brought them- when our tacos were delivered by another staff member, we told him and chips were then brought out immediately. We’ve dined here for dinner & lunch several times before. Margaritas good, but overpriced for the small, $13/$14.50 with more ice than drink. In the ladies room, there are two stalls and one stall door was missing several slats, leaving o four inch gap with no privacy.
Good but not worth the price unless you go for happy hour.
Great happy hour! They have the best margarita I have ever had!
The tacos at Bar Takito are very tasty, with rich ingredients and lots of flavor. The tortillas are thick and homemade, which is appreciated. The drinks are tasty and well-made. The service is fine. No complaints about what was consumed or the ambiance, but I have a hard time paying around $15 for a margarita and $8-$11 for two tacos, no matter how tasty they are. Maybe I'm not fancy enough, but I feel that a taco shouldn't cost more than $3.
Popped in midday so the place was pretty empty. You could tell their shifts were turning. Everything was prompt. Had margaritas, queso and 2 orders of tacos. Everything was great. Margaritas is what will definitely bring me back, I preferred them to the food.
