Bar Takito is like a tuxedo T-Shirt - it wants to be formal, but go here for some tacos, drinks, and to party.
Food was great!
Tacos were cold. Service was bad.
We sat outside and were served quickly and well! The HUGE chips were amazing, along with tasty, zesty salsa.
Great food and great drinks! I took my wife and three sons whose age ranged from 13 to 4 and the server was very accommodating.
Really limited menu on the weekends. It smelled really strong in there which ruined the otherwise decent atmosphere. My party and I ordered one app before deciding to leave
Great server, extremely attentive. The food and drinks were fantastic as well. Highly recommend
I have dined at Bar Takito once for before for dinner and once before for happy hour - both were great experiences. However coming to Bar Takito with a large group for Cinco de Mayo was a huge mistake. The dining quality was severely diminished, with appetizers and main dishes coming on paper plates and in cups. The serving sizes were also a huge rip off. Would not come here again on a holiday!
Great food and drinks and waiter was super helpful. it was a tad loud
Cool looking restaurant.
Very small portions of food-even shared plate meals are tiny.
Pricey for the amount of food and drink.
Service was hit or miss-they either weren’t attentive or they rushed in and cleared plates we were still eating from.
Great food. Plan to share tacos as you have to order 3 of the same type. Our waiter wasn’t bad, but you just felt like you were hassling him simply placing your order. Wish they did margarita pitchers.
Restaurant had great energy though, definitely plan to return, just hopefully with another server.
Let's start with the good...Bar Takito has CRAZY good food. Every bite was absolutely delicious, and we really enjoyed ourselves. The cocktails were also very nice. The one thing that was a bit of a drawback, especially at a higher price point, was our VERY inattentive server. He took our drink order and about 15-20 minutes later we flagged him down to order food and then literally did not see him again until 20 minutes after we had finished our food, at which point we flagged him down yet again to ask for the check. It was almost strange how MIA he was in such a small restaurant. We are really not high maintenance people, but this was pretty off-putting. We will be back, though, and are hoping this was a fluke!
Great food, horrendous service. My friend and I went for an early drinks and dinner combo and after we had to flag down our waiter to order drinks and apps, he took our plates and said "so I'll bring your check", not even asking us if we wanted to have dinner. BTW - apps were amazing - shrimp ceviche and guac were on point. Then, during dinner we flagged down other waiters to order coffee and dessert. Those waiters started getting annoyed that they were helping our table and our response was, well can you send over waiter over then? We could see him standing there waiting for service from the bar for other tables. Finally, another waiter brought us our check, a second waiter took our cards, and to close the circle, our initial waiter dropped the receipts on the table and walked away without a word. Service truly ruined a wonderfully prepared meal.
Loved the entire experience!
Good food, wine and atmosphere! The chilaquiles are a must!!
Service and good were fine but the space between tables was not adequate. The large group behind us repeatedly hit me in the back with elbows and bags.
Great place to come with friends. Happy hour was a blast - excellent margaritas and don't miss the fish tacos, they were outstanding!
Our waiter Eric was excellent. Food was a very good mix of classic Latin cuisine with fusion elements.
Went for dinner at 7, band started playing so it was a little loud. But nice music. Not the most attentive service.
We visited for Taco Tuesday, which meant $4 for most tacos, except for special tacos, like the lobster ($7), which I got, in addition to the white fish and squid. All of them had pretty good flavor, especially the squid, but they were all fairly tiny (even for tacos) and not filling. We also got guacamole and chips ($10), which again had good flavor, but was a tiny portion, not even enough to share amongst four people. You might, however, enjoy the menu more if you’re not pescatarian like me. I got the cucumber margarita which had good flavor but was iced down & not at all stiff, so definitely not worth the $14.
The servers were all really helpful and friendly. The place was pretty busy and loud so it’s not great for conversation, but it’d be cool for just a quick bite & drink if you’re around West Loop on Tuesday and craving a creative, luxurious twist on Mexican food.
Great tacos, good margarita, terrible service. I think it just out waiter, but he didn’t seem to care. We were ready to order extra food and his lack of attention cost him and the restaurant extra business.
Amazing and unique brunch menu. Cool atmosphere and attentive service. Went for Easter brunch but imagine it is a fun vibe any time. Especially in the warm months
What a fun, trendy spot! Went with a group to celebrate a birthday - very lively place. The food and service was great - we loved everything we ordered. We went on a day where there was live music, which we really enjoyed! Would recommend!
THIS IS OUR THIRD TIME THERE AND THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT. WE HAD THE SAME WAITER EVERY TIME WE BEEN THERE , LOVE HIM.THANKS MATT. GREAT TIME.OVERALL EXCELLENT STAFF.
Great location in West Loop that was able to accommodate a large party during the early afternoon. Great service -- would recommend!
Regardless that the night we went to Bar Takito to have dinner there was no octopus left (and that is what we really wanted from the menu), the excellent waiter who served us recommended great options for us, we ended up having a deli dinner, and nice drinks (my cocktail was super sweet at firts and he made it fixed with the bar tender). We really enjoyed the place, definitely will come back!
Food was delicious. It was a bit loud but ambiance was fun. The shrimp cone was amazing. And I had the octopus as my entree. Our waiter was attentive enough and when we asked him to take a pic he even recommended a place for us to pose and made us look good! Can’t wait to be back to try other dishes!
1st time there & it’s was great. Food was different from other places that makes it unique. Almost everything is made there. Their cucumber margarita is amazing
Good food. Interesting ingredients. Very good margaritas. Great for happy hour.
The food was amazing! So many flavors in every dish we tried. The service was top notch, even on a busy Saturday night. Will definitely return.
As always, a great time. Food is reasonable. Drinks are a tad pricey, but fairly strong so not the end of the world there. Service is typically very good too.
Never expected it to live up to other reviews - had outstanding waiter....cannot remember his name or busguy, but even the owner poured the waters. Seems this is a team effort to make outstanding food, drinks and inviting atmosphere. Queso fundito, pork belly tacos, salad, guac....wanted cerviche but no room! Not a margarita person but omg...the tropical amd coconut...and the spice was kickass! Really underrepresented in this sea of good restaurants. Will surely be packed soon!
The food was great !! I definitely recommend the ceviche trio. The octopus la plancha was yummy as well. I loved the cucumber margarita but the coquito was not good
Band was way too loud
Excellent tapas, really great cocktail offerings, and in a great location.
We went here on recommendation for my sister’s birthday. The food is not worth the price. We did not like any of our drinks, which were expensive and small. The place is too loud. Can’t even hear someone talking next to you. The whole experience was mediocre at best.
Great jazz music! Gourmet guacamole. Superb ceviche! Outstanding service from everyone! And we found a parking space!
Bar Takito is a very fun environment for both friends and business associates. I have brought both individuals and large groups to the restaurant in a business setting. One of my events was a very successful wind down after a very intense day of business discussions with a prospective client in the typewriter room. The menu is unique and perfectly executed. Most importantly, the service experience is over the top excellent. The passion of management clearly shows through the service staff.
Matt the waiter was very helpful and made great suggestions. Food was excellent. Will go again. Price was fine.
We visited this restaurant during Chicago restaurant week. The hostess was expecting us and seated us upon arrival. They were very courteous. During restaurant week, we were able to order an appetizer, entree and dessert for $33 a person. My husband ordered the papas Fritas and I ordered the pineapple guacamole for our appetizer. The papas fritas were different than normal French fries. It was round cuts of potatoes with cheese sauce. The guacamole was pretty good. For the entree, we ordered the skirt steak and ropa vieja tacos. The steak was very tasty and a bit spicy. We like spicy so that worked. The ropa vieja tacos were came with shredded brisket, but it was not as flavorful. For our dessert, we had dulce de leche. The dessert was not very good at all. We did not even finish it since it was not to our liking. We did have a Takito Margarita and a Mojito. The drinks were just okay as well. Overall, the food was okay, the staff was great and the ambiance was fantastic.
Good service, great food (wish you could mix and match tacos though!). Solid margaritas and good prices. Would definitely come back again.
Great customer service! Food was really good! Good place to relax.
