We love Bar Tabac. As Francophiles, we find this place to be casual and fun with good food and an experience reminiscent of some establishments in Paris. Will definitely be back soon.
A perfect French bistro. Fantastic food, some of the best escargot I've eaten. A real gem.
Very tasty food and wonderful ambiance. Thank you! Merci!
I love bar tabac. This was my first time going for brunch and it was great.
Love Bar Tabac. Food is very reliable and atmosphere is always lively. Great place for a Friday night.
Drinks are great
Service was friendly
My guest’s food was great
My hanger steak was chewy
I like the place but I’m not sure I will ever order that hanger steak again.
Seated immediately.
Server arrived a minute later.
Drinks arrived shortly.
Entrees came out when expected.
Terrific food from start to finish.
Friendly service.
What’s not to like?
Our go to place in that neighborhood.
Our favorite restaurant in Brooklyn. Don’t pass on the mussels - best mussels we’ve ever had.
Had a very nice New Years Eve meal at Bar Tabac, great atmosphere, service and lots of fun as always!!
Dined at Bar Tabac on Christmas. The staff and the delicious food was well worth the trek out on a busy holiday. Despite the crowd, the service was attentive and friendly. Bar Tabac remains a go-to and they never fail to live up to expectations.
Food was delicious. Just know ahead of time that they only accept cash or AMEX and you’ll be ok. Service was great!
Nice food and friendly atmosphere. Smelled like cleaning products around our table, which ruined the vibe a little.
It was great
We shall return
Thanks
We came here for a small wedding party (8) and they gave us the back room which was a bit quieter. Staff were always present and helpful to everyone and the food was delicious (second time coming here). This is one of my favorite places to eat when visiting family in NYC, don't miss out, especially if there's a high school jazz trio playing the night you're there.
We were each served the wrong food and then made to feel as if it was our fault! We were given a small discount, pretty much had the check thrown on our table and absolutely no apology was made. It was my daughter's and my last night on a trip to NYC and a very upsetting way to finish. I would absolutely not recommend this rude restaurant to anyone.
The food was wonderful. Even the table next to us had food that smelled amazing.
Nothing not to like at this place.
All good every time.
There was a band playing Thursday night so it was hard to hear. We sat in the back room which was better. The food was delicious. The service was good. We did enjoy the music. I am sure we will go again.
Delicious food and good happy hour specials. A nice layout to the place. They seemed understaffed and it took a while for someone to take an order between apps and main course. Overall though, delightful.
This is kind of neighborhood watering hole, but has a very pleasant staff and a varied menu. For lunch we had ceviche and returned for more the next day. a decent wine and beer list compliments daily specials, like the ginger and tomato soup which they were kind enough to serve chilled. Definitely casual and laid back, but worthy of a stop.
Good place, good food at reasonable prices. Wine list limited. Very enjoyable place. We have returned for 5 times now
Food was great and the ambience of the place is fantastic. However, on the night we where there, they might had been short on staff, as the service was extremely slow and we where confronted with a server with an attitude when we politely asked about of food after 25 minutes of wait. We can understand peak hours, short staffing issues, etc. we are reasonable people, so please don't annoy your customers with showing them an attitude! a simple "I'm sorry, we are short of staff today" would had defused the situation. Instead, we left the restaurant with a bitter-sweet taste in our mouths...
Friendly staff and great ambiance. The service was fantastic and the menu had a nice selection of dishes in addition to the daily specials
Always a winner - especially dining outside along Dean Street
My sister and I searched for somewhere with ambience and easy to find location for 2 sets of cousins coming from Europe-this was it! They held our table for 8 people, made food accommodations and took a really great picture of us all to boot! Oddly enough we all ordered burgers-delicious, and a minor mistake on the chef's part was remedied with beverage comps! Live music trio playing in the bar area and a delicious cocktail while I waited for my relatives to arrive definitely made me feel that I chose the right place!
good food and service. We came at 1:30 and were able to get the one table remaining. By the time we left there were several tables available. If possible come for a later lunch
Very good food. Service at outside table a little sporadic. Was told artichokes in salad fresh but they weren’t but otherwise everything very nice and had a great time.
Lovely French 🇫🇷 cuisine and love their French wines. The only minus is you either pay with cash or Amex since they do not take Visa or MasterCard
Feels like Paris in that they have loads of outdoor tables and the welcome dogs. We love It!
Bar Tabac was a fine place for brunch. Visiting a friend in Brooklyn for the weekend, we came here for Sunday brunch before leaving town. We had the avocado toast, french toast, and baked eggs. Everything was decent. Service was ok - a bit slow, but friendly. Overall, nothing was bad about the experience but nothing was outstanding either. I wouldn't say no to coming back, but I would probably try new places on my next visit.
Brunch was excellent.
Brunch offerings were all excellent and slightly better priced than dinner
We were there for lunch this time. We had dinner at Bar Tabac many times before and have always left happy so we figured lunch could not be any less, and we were right. We were four with a 3yr old and had ordered all different plates.
All arrived after a short wait, well presented and well prepared. The perfectly seared tuna in the salade nicoise was sitting on a fresh bed of greens and other fresh accompaniments, the hamburger was cooked a perfect medium rare and served with some nice crispy and tender french fries, not greasy at all, the baked eggs with feta cheese was very tasty and moist, and they had nicely substituted the ham in my Croque Madame for some nice ripe slices of tomatoes, as requested. The Croque Madame was done with a nice sharp cheese and stayed crisp and not soggy! Thank you for a great lunch! The staff was very friendly and attentive, as always! Merci pour un bon dejeuner en bonne compagnie!
Place was dirty. Bathroom wasn’t clean. Service was terrible.
Very pleasant eating experience. Lively crowd, food was very good. Try and snag a table outside for people watching
Really great brunch with my parents who were in town visiting and locally-based cousins. Food was excellent and the staff were kind to put us at a big table in the back which was quieter since my father can find the noise challenging. They gave us plenty of time to linger and chat. Very much enjoyed. Great for a group.
Good food, good service, a bit noisy.
Do not enjoy the live music... too loud.
Love the Nicoise salad. The salmon burger was fire too!
Love eating outside here with our pup! Feels like Paris❤️
Bar Tabac is the perfect neighborhood French bistro: very cozy, with excellent food and wine. We were visiting from out of town and loved everything about it. My moules frites were extraordinary and my husband’s hangar steak was great. We will definitely return if we stay nearby again.
