We had a reservation for 6:45 on Mother's Day and at 7:15 we had still not been sat, and they had NO IDEA how long it would be until we had a table. They are the WORST.

It was a busy Mothers Day brunch but the staff had things under control. The brunch setup was attractive and the food was fresh and hot. (Or cold ) as appropriate. All of my food was very tasty... And a good selection. I do think an omelette station would have been a great addition. We will definitely visit again.

Our party fully enjoyed our Mother’s Day brunch at Bar Solita. It was our first time at Bar Solita and everyone remarked at how good the food was, the music that was played in the background and how attentive the waitstaff and service was. We will be back!!

Loved the decor and atmosphere, and the food was delicious, but the service was painfully slow. We arrived at 11 and didn't have drinks until 11:25 (the restaurant wasn't crowded and there was sufficient staff). I'd definitely go back, though.

Noisy, kitchen overwhelmed by volume, food was lukewarm and drinks took 20 minutes, second floor seating makes it difficult for servers as all food and drink is prepped on first floor.

Willing to try again but on first floor or at the bar.

The space is wonderful. Nice large bar area and plenty of seating with upscale decor. We went during restaurant week and had the prix fixe menu. The pork shank and polenta was very skimpy on the pork and had enough polenta to feed a village. Everything else was delicious.

Our waiter was attentive, but the food was very slow arriving from the kitchen. When we were served my husband had to send his chicken picatta entree back. It bore no resemblance to a picatta; it was heavily breaded and drowned in a bland white sauce served over mashed potatoes. No lemon, no capers, no olive oil. Do not recommend!

We had a reservation for a party of 6 for 12:30 Easter Sunday brunch. The people working there were very nice and helpful and the atmosphere was congenial, but the buffet food was just ok. It took forever for the kitchen to refill items that were being consumed. There weren’t that many people in line but by the time we got to the front of the buffet, they were out of salad, scrambled eggs, biscuits, two specialty dishes, potatos, salmon, and a couple other side items. The food quality and flavor was reasonable, but you had to wait quite a while to get it, and when the brought it out, it was in small quantities. Needless to say they really need help in the kitchen managing a buffet. I might give it another try ordering from their fixed menu, but at a flat $40 per person, I won’t be doing their buffet again.

No where on website or reservation did it say buffet. We noticed when we entered. Gave us menus so thought it was regular menu as well, ordered drinks and then asked once receiving and told it was buffet only, and no price until receiving checks. $40. Food was cold and hard for an hour before replacing. Server dropped drinks and didn't return until we just started stacking plates. Out of water for an hour. Awful experience. Other times have been great. Not this time. $100 cold buffet meal with basically no service.

The restaurant is gorgeous, so I was really excited for this dinner. We had an 8:45 pm reservation and ordered several small plates to share. All of the food was mediocre (pork shanks were so tough! And the sauce on the meatballs tasted like Prego or Ragu). The bar is very pretty - maybe I’ll visit again for cocktails, but probably will not return for dinner again.

Had a great server and enjoyed many delicious small plate offerings. I did not enjoy my Happy Hour drink, but that's just because I learned I dislike vermouth!
We thought the meal was a great value and highly recommend this hip spot with easy valet parking. Leave the West End and come downtown for some fun and great tapas!

Absolutely love the atmosphere and the food! The service was okay, but not great - they forgot to bring out meals for 2 out of our 10 guests (obviously forgot because they didn’t tell us it was coming out, just left us and when they came back five minutes later to check on how we were enjoying the food we asked where their meals were and they came immediately with them.) and they got several drinks wrong and didn’t bring more water out quickly. Was especially odd because the lower floor was practically empty - would expect better service when we are the largest and one of the only tables downstairs. I know they are newer so hopefully working out some of the kinks cause I really love the atmosphere and food!!

We had our Son's graduation party at the Bar Solita and were very impressed by the staff, food and the restaurant. We had the upstair's loft, which allowed some privacy and reduction of the noise level downstairs. Mim was our server and she was great and was very friendly and efficient. We strongly recommend the Bar Solita for any event!

There were 7 of us. We were seated upstairs. The service was VERY slow. Although the wait staff were very nice, they were inattentive and we waited quite a while in between drinks and ordering food AND the food arrival. The noise level was extremely loud. Of all the restaurants in Richmond, I would not recommend this one.

Booked a reservation for a group of 14 for my wife’s birthday. We ended up running a bit late trying to coordinate everyone’s schedule, and they were kind enough to hold our table until we arrived which was very nice and unexpected. Servers were attentive and patient with our large group! They took their time letting us order and were prompt on drinks and food. I was very happy with the service we received!

The food itself unfortunately was the opposite. Bland, cold, tasteless. Not sure where the disconnect is but the kitchen is the weak link in the chain. The only exception to this was the soup of the day which we had as an opener. The rest of our dishes (house meatball, shrimp, and mushrooms) were all ridiculously under seasoned and completely devoid of flavor. The meatball I received was also ice cold.

The space itself was large and we were seated in an upstairs area that gave our large party a bit of privacy and and created a comfortable noise level for our group.

Overall, good wine and stellar service, with memorable ambience. However, definitely not a spot to eat at.

This experience was out of this world! We reserved a table for brunch at 10:45. There was a cart serving Bloody Mary’s, like a readily available Hibachi Grill! Also at that time there was a live DJ and on a freaking Sunday! Absolutely gorgeous servers and hostess. Everyone dressed so well, and it felt like I was underdressed. No judgment by anyone there, everyone was so helpful and so wonderful. The food was absolutely fantastic with Central American and Latin-Caribbean twists.

We had eaten here when it was Graffiato. We were so saddened by the decline in the food. From the getgo, the server was bluntly unhelpful with IPA selection. We ordered 5 items, for the two of us sitting at the bar. Many open bar seats at the long bar. The caponata was fine, and the falafel was quite good. But the fattoush salad- was nothing but a green salad! No pita chips, no dates, nothing other than green lettuce, croutons and cucumbers with a halved cherry tomato here and there. The orzo salad was worse- no seasoning, orzo clumped together. There were no pine nuts as advertised, minimal tomatoes and basil- justa mess. The ‘breakfast pizza” was greasy, having been cooked in oil in the pizza oven. The pizza chef could not be bothered to cook the eggs for the breakfast pizza in the pizza oven- instead they were cooked in a frying pan and thrown on top of the pizza after it came out of the oven. Just plain lazy. Breakfast pizza was served with minimal sausage and cold, lumped ricotta-like cheese. There was a 12 year old soccer party up in the balcony and the shrieking was loud. The chef came out and just stared at everyone- clearly spending more time outside the kitchen than in it. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable but clearly bored with the whole scene.

Hi Anonymous, I am so sorry to see 2-stars. As the owner, I am working with our executive chef, management and staff to provide the best service and food possible. I apologize for the loud party on the balcony- there were many young kids that night for a soccer event. We are working to improve our food- even bringing in talented new cooks. Your feedback is invaluable. Thank you! Liz.

Enjoyed our second trip to Bar Solita. Hummus and pita were delicious as well as the pepperoni roll app special. We were disappointed that the Happy Hour specials listed on Open Table are no longer available ($4-7 small plates M-F as well as numerous drink specials have been replaced with a couple of wine & beer specials and 4 light snack specials - think toasted nuts, et al). We went that night specifically to try several small plate specials with our teens. Felt a little "bait and switch" although we know it is likely a harmless oversight (i.e. someone needs to update the description on OpenTable)

This place is so cute - the lighting is beautiful, and the decor is so nice. The drink menu for flamingo brunch was excellent. We had the mimosa flight shared between a group, but I would happily have anything on that menu. The spicy biscuits and gravy were AWESOME, but the empanadas were lacking in flavor and pretty dry. I will definitely be back.
