Bar SixtyFive at Rainbow Room Ratings and Reviews
Extraordinaria ubicación. Elegabte, sofisticado y a la vez muy relajado. Muy buen servicio, aunque te “apuran” un poco para terminar y dejar libre la mesa. También se puede ir solo al bar y tomar una copa de pie. Excelente para conocer New York
This venue is a must for spectacular views with a glass of wine or cocktail and something to eat (not mandatory). We were lucky because it was a really clear night and the city lights shone brightly. Great atmosphere. I think the management have read previous feedback as we sat by a window and there was a rope sectioning us away from people who wanted to come and see the views and take photos, meaning we had no invasion of privacy.
From the moment we entered to the moment we left, we felt like royalty. Our server, Joseph, had the perfect balance between professionalism and friendly banter. To the point we wanted to get a picture with him. He was attentive but not invasive, funny but not over the top. It was our “fancy” honeymoon night in NYC and it genuinely was a massive unexpected highlight of our trip. The food and cocktails were impeccable also. My only fault I could make of the place is that some of the other clientele were not nearly as fun or exciting. But that is not the fault of bar 65. Thank you so much for the attention, experience, food and most importantly the fun. #josephformanager
We had a wonderful time at Bar SixtyFive. Stunning view of the city including the Empire State Building. When we first got there service was a little slow. There was a large group for some sort of networking event. Once we got our drinks we were very pleased and our server was very attentive. The Flaming Choco-feller Alaska was delicious the the presentation very fun. It was my girlfriends birthday the they took the effort to write happy birthday in chocolate on the rim of the plate. Could not have asked for a better night. We will definitely be coming back.
Visited this bar while on holiday in NYC, was made to feel very comfortable while confirming my reservation by staff members. This was not an enjoyable experience!! Got talking to an American couple at the table next to me and they felt the exact same! If your not “dressed” a certain way then prepare yourself.
The venue was picture perfect. We were lucky & had great views of the Empire State Building all lit up during our meal. Best to reserve for meals, although you can turn up for drinks at the bar. My husband & I both had steaks. The meat was cooked to perfection, however I felt the veg was a bit too oily for me.
I would though, recommended any one to go. It’s a lovely place & it feels special with the amaz7all round view.
The Rainbow Room was once an elegant five star restaurant. It is now a noisy bar/restaurant where the food is average at best, the noise level high and the service below par. A great view but not the place for a romantic night out. There are far better places to eat in NYC. Overall, a massive disappointment. We won’t be back.
Pig in blankets and pork puffs for starter, both went down a treat. Me and my partner both had the steak for our main which was spot on. Tables are quite close together but it is a very popular bar so obviously busy. Waitress was a little slow to offer more drinks but other than that no faults!
We made reservations a couple of months in advance. We had a great table. Our server, Katerina, was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was delicious and presentation was unique. Several couples stood next to our table and were quite loud when we first arrived. It did quiet down when they left.
The food was poor and the service wasn’t the greatest, they got our drinks order wrong but that may have been due to our English accent. They forgot our mains, so we just had our drinks and starters and left. To be honest it was expensive but I think you’re just paying for the rent due to magnificent view of Manhattan. All in all would go for a drink to enjoy the view but that’s about it.
If you are coming to Bar 65 for the views (as a peaceful alternative to going to the observation deck at the Top of the Rock) you may be disappointed. The tables along the windows with the views of the Empire State Building are apparently reserved for 'special guests', and in winter the terrace is closed.
Also, the restaurant is quite overfilled with people waiting for a seat, which results in people hovering around your table and standing all around the windows which again prevents you from actually taking in the views.
Food and cocktails were really nice though!
Overall experience was okay. Service was not good. We got our waters filled twice, my fiancées 1.5 times (the waiter ran out of water and never came back to fill the cup). The waiter never came over once to: see how we were, how our meal was, or if we wanted another drink. We had to ask a bus boy to get the waiter every time we needed anything- another drink, ketchup, water, even the bill. The food wasn’t that good, either. The appetizers were better than the entrees. I would only recommend this place to someone who is visiting New York. Really disappointed.
Booked an evening dinner visit as part of our 2nd trip back to NYC (from UK). This was on the GFs to do list & we both had a great time. We enjoyed the food, ordering the salmon & charcuterie platters which we shared between us. Our waiters timing that night was excellent, popping up perfectly for us to order food & drink. There were plenty of customers that night, all happily taking snaps for one another at the several spots to grab a pic with the iconic NYC skyline back drop. Thanks to Bar65 for having us!
