The two-story restaurant, spanning 8,000-square-feet, is located in the heart of restaurant row in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood. Upon entering, there is a bustling bar and on the second floor, a vibrant dining room, both connected by an arresting illuminated sculpture inspired by Siena Tavern's olive tree icon.
Bar Siena is the perfect location for weekday lunch, dinner, happy hour or weekend brunch. If you're looking for something a little sweeter, stop by Bar Siena's side-concept and walk-up window, BomboBar, located on Green Street. Grab a coffee, bomboloni, gelato or hot chocolate to go!

Expected a nice Italian restaurant but this was a noisy bar with pizza. Will not return
Overall very loud, difficult to carry conversation.
Food was good. Wine pours on the skimpy side.
Jose was a good server!
If I were reviewing the food it would be five stars across the board. The noise level was insane. Music blaring made people talk at a very high level and made it impossible to hear yourself think. Although I recognize that they are playing to a younger crowd, I cannot believe that even these clueless millennials care for the head pounding you get just to have dinner.
Great meal and great service. Highly recommend
Celebrated finishing a race with a yummy brunch. We had the biscuits and gravy and short rib hash. Both were very good but didn’t hold a candle to the outstanding dinner we had a few weeks ago. I’ll still go back a hundred times over.
Birthday dinner with my boyfriend. The noise level was super loud but overall a good experience.
Food is consistently outstanding. Wait staff gives great recommendations. Love this place.
The croquettes, Caesar salad and linguini w/lemon and pepper were all outstanding
Overall our waiter was very good, but we did have to wait 20 minutes after we got our drinks to order our meal
Loved the lights throughout the restaurant and the exposed brick
If I were to take off a star, it would be because the bar gets quite loud when busy, and the bar is almost always busy.
Not surprising, though, because it's a beautiful space, with really attentive service, comfortable seating, good heating, delicious food, and a fun vibe.
It is a little pricey, but competitive for the neighborhood, so there's no real reason to complain there. You're paying for a beautiful, comfortable, attentive environment as much as you are for high quality food.
Not great service
My cousin and I shared the Burrata Wedge salad (drool-fest), then asked the waiter if we had the option to do half of one pizza and half of another.. it was a go for the White Mushroom pizza & Fireball Pepperoni pizza.. both AMAZING. We favored the pepperoni more. We also shared the gnocchi which was also unreal, with prosciutto sausage, broccoli rabe, Parmesan and chili flakes 😋😋 Finished the meal with Bombolini. The donuts were delicious but we wished the sauces were warm instead of cold. 9.5/10 for us!
Great lunch outing for a corporate team function.
I normally have a great experience at Bar Siena but everything felt off. It was truffle night and the flavor that you expect from truffles was not there. Also it took forever to receive all of our dishes. The executive chef finally came out and served it to us but it was rather disappointing and didn't feel we received the value.
Went for brunch and had the breakfast pizza which was amazing. Server was awesome.
Our charming server was so helpful with descriptions and suggestions. Our experience was delightful. It was late afternoon so rather quiet and we were not rushed at all. Very pleasant
First time I’ve been for brunch and won’t return for it. The service was terrible even though the place wasn’t even crowded. Our food came out cold and our waitress wasn’t around. Another waitress even came to check on us twice and take some of the empty plates away. Each time I’ve been to Bar Siena for dinner I’ve had great experiences, but I would not recommend for brunch.
The food was phenomenal as it is with any Fabio Viviani restaurant. Wouldn’t have changed a single thing we ordered... especially the octopus appetizer and prosciutto and fig pizza.
Only negative was that it was a little loud and we felt crammed with other tables so close.
We sat outside on the patio on a sunny day. Service was great, food was good.
Try the Polenta!
Good food and excellent service—management may have changed recently, but those changes are paying off!
Bar Siena is always a good solid choice, but I prefer it for brunch over dinner menu wise. Great bar, but the bartender was awful. I sat down and I asked for a drink menu, 15 minutes later, he came back. My dinner companion had been there earlier and already had one. It was not crowded at all. He was equally bad after dinner, but atleast it was busy then so it was more understandable. Our server was very nice and was good. Can’t go wrong with Burrata and prosciutto for an appetizer, both were good and added truffle honey (good upsell my the waiter!). I had the risotto and the flavor was amazing. I really like squash but there was a ton of it and kinda ruined the risotto texture to me (still took and enjoyed the leftovers, just a warning!). I was told the scallops were good! There is so much in the area, but this is a staple for elevated casual.
The food is amazing and excellent customer service! I highly recommend.
I have been a customer since it was opened by Fabio Viviani. I feel like the portion sizes could be a bit bigger for the cost. The service was EXCELLENT!
This was a perfect date night restaurant! We got the mussels as an appetizer and the Brussels sprouts pizza for our meal. Everything was delicious. I got a dirty martini, which was very well made, and my boyfriend got one of their many local beer options. Tiramisu was also great.
It was a good experience with for my friends birthday. It was her first time at Bar Siena and it was a good experience. Our server Zack was friendly and helpful.
Beautiful place and great food! Favorite spot in the city.
I usually love Bar Siena. Last night was an exception. The menus were soggy and we were seated under some vents that had major condensation, dripping in our hair and food. The condensation was mixed with dirt and rust, so it wasn’t just water. After a few drops we asked to move. Rather than truly apologize they seemed shocked this was happening because it wasn’t super hot outside. It shouldn’t matter from a customer standpoint. Later on in the meal, we were offered truffles. It wasn’t mentioned at all that it was an additional cost; the way the server offered the truffles was analogous to offering Parmesan on a salad. Perhaps it’s uncouth to mention costs but it should have been made clearer. I was a little shock when the bill came that it was an additional $28 dollars. After we paid, my friend spoke to manager about the service. He was very apologetic and he said he would be right back with something. Rather than comp a portion of the meal, like the drinks he gave us a card for a free octopus appetizer. Never mind he never asked either of us if we like octopus. We don’t. The idea was nice though, but he could have just said, next time have an appetizer on us, rather than choose for me.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere as usual.
My husband and I love Bar Siena and have come here many times. Sometimes it’s just for drinks (they have great cocktails!), sometimes it’s for the ambience, and sometimes it’s for dinner - and each time and reason is great. On this particular night, we came for dinner and everything was amazing! Even though it was busy, they seated us right away (we had a reservation) and the service was great.
We chose this restaurant based on reviews and the menu. While the food was incredible the service was pretty good but a little on the slow side, we were here on a business trip during a trade show and I must be honest and that this place is extremely loud! That was the only thing that we weren’t very pleased with but the food more than made up for the noise.
Good food, awesome service, overall good vibe
Great place to celebrate a birthday. Food and service was excellent. Will be returning soon.
Great atmosphere. Terrific food. Great service. Highly recommend.
Great food, location, ambiance. Luckily we were able to sit outside - it is too noisy inside to have a conversation. A little pricey: $40 for an appetizer containing 4 scallops.
I was a lone female diner completely ignored by Cesar, my assigned server, until well after Megan the server crossed out of her area, took my order, sent someone up to fix my wobbly table, and checked in on me. The couple seated 18 inches away from me 30 mins later was attentively cared for by Caesar, who continued to ignore me most of the night unless he was showing up AFTER Megan refilled my drink, asked me how was my food, etc. Caesar did bring me a dessert menu about 5 minutes after I’d declined dessert to Megan. But he was lickety split with the check, which listed him as my server. I crossed him out and put Megan - I hope she gets the tip.
Bar Siena’s food is very high quality. They split the salad portion for me but they don’t split pasta portions, which I found disappointing in a menu touting small plates.
It was the Packer/Bears season opener and every TV was on. That was great for me, but had I been there for a nice dinner with a sweetie, it may have been a buzzkill. Normally I like a sports bar to be a sports bar and a restaurant to be a restaurant, but an NFL season opener with the Pack is an acceptable excuse for big screens. If you don’t like TV as decor, this place is not for you.
Excellent waitress, delicious food!
Attention to detail is not the hallmark of the service staff. Our silverware and napkins arrived well after our first appetizer, and only when, with some effort, we flagged down a staffer; drink glasses were left empty. And the food is pricey relative to the value. The outdoor seating is a bit of a saving grace.
Great waiter. Food was amazing!
Fun but noisy. Food was fine and service was ok
The brunch was amazing!
