The two-story restaurant, spanning 8,000-square-feet, is located in the heart of restaurant row in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood. Upon entering, there is a bustling bar and on the second floor, a vibrant dining room, both connected by an arresting illuminated sculpture inspired by Siena Tavern's olive tree icon.
Bar Siena is the perfect location for weekday lunch, dinner, happy hour or weekend brunch. If you're looking for something a little sweeter, stop by Bar Siena's side-concept and walk-up window, BomboBar, located on Green Street. Grab a coffee, bomboloni, gelato or hot chocolate to go!

Manager pushed us to leave for next reservation booked only 1hr 45min after ours. Rude and did not appreciate it.
Came here for restaurant week. Very good food and service. Would definitely come back!
At first it started off good. The experience was good but waiter seemed to disappear after we got our main course. Took way too long to get our dessert. It did not seem that busy so I wasn’t sure why it took so long. Overall was not a pleasant experience.
The meatballs were fantastic!!
Service made it a stressful meal when the whole objective of going out was to relax and catch up with a friend... definitely didn’t make us want to come back even though the ambiance was lovely and food decent.
Went for a birthday dinner and everything was great. We sat the chef’s table, which isn’t what we originally wanted, but ultimately enjoyed. We ordered the short rib lasagna which was delicious, the salmon, also delicious, and the brussel sprouts. Had the No. 1 and No. 19 cocktails that were amazing! For dessert, we indulged in the bomboloni and vanilla gelato. Delicious!
Too loud far a bar/restaurant. Couldn’t hear the person next to me for conversation. Be one or the other but not both.
Went for dinner with my sister. Had a booth, and thought we could chat. Friday night with a DJ, the music got louder and louder. Food was okay. Probably good for hanging at bar and drinking with friends. Duck Mac and Cheese was dull. Right texture noodle. Creamy sauce, but cheese lacked sharpness, making dish a bit boring. Also burrata wedge salad, needed a better burrata. For a cheese head like me, better cheese would have greatly improved these dishes.
The food here is fine. There are much better options nearby. The list of wines by the glass is awful. My Prosecco was flat but I was in a large group and didn’t want to make a big deal about it. Waiter did not ask us if we wanted dessert or coffee (we did) but since he brought the check we just paid and left. Overall, a mediocre to poor experience. Would not return.
I arrived and was told to let the hostess know when the rest of my party was there. Immediately after, a woman walked in solo and was seated at her table for a party of two. By the time my party arrived (which could have fit at her booth), we were seated upstairs where there was no one else and the ambiance was not ideal. I don’t think the situation was intentional, but the same policies need to be in effect for all customers. I was on time for the reservation.
Our waiter was amazing and so sweet! recommended us good food! Def coming back
I absolutely love polenta bread, so I was ecstatic when the waitress said she could give me an extra side of polenta bread for my plate. Plates are large, so best to order tapas style. My mom, grandma, and I ordered turkey club, the brussel sprout salad, and the proscuitto fig pizza. Pizza was sweet (honey) and proscuitto was fresh. Brussel sprout had dried proscuitto crisps on top (delicious) and was a nice compliment to the *very* large turkey club. The fries were so flavorful and topped with parmesan. The only thing was the plates were so large and everything was good, it doesn't make sense to go dine alone there. You need like, 2-3 other people to be able to taste everything you want!
I've been coming to Bar Siena for a while and stopped in on a Saturday for a late dinner. Our server was awful. I've been in service industry for years so I'm always super understanding but she was just terrible. Worst attitude ever :(
You do not want to eat there past 9pm as they start blasting the music to a ridiculous decibel. Scallops are too salty.
The food was super bland and not worth the price. We got the lobster pasta and the short rib lasagna. We were sat at a table right by the revolving door and it was freezing the whole time. The music was really loud. Not a great experience.
I think they changed the pizza recipe. Not as good
This was my first visit and unfortunately it was pretty lackluster. I will start off by saying our server was a very sweet guy and super knowledgeable about the menu—but that was the only redeeming quality about our experience. The meatballs came out before our drinks. The gnocchi was odd (the sauce was like a gravy?), and the mushroom truffle pizza was just average. I thought all the food was bland and in need of seasoning or salt. Our table was in the middle of an aisle, so we had people walking along each side of us. They got us in and out in an hour—would have loved another drink but had to wait probably close to 15 minutes after our meal for our waiter to come back, so just got the check. Standard West Loop service but overpriced nothing-special food. See no reason to return. It’s always popping so I had high expectations. I’ve had this place on my list of restaurants for a while, and I’m pretty disappointed.
We waited over 15 minutes for someone to come over and take our drink order. Food wasn’t great. Worst meal of our trip.
It was lunch time on New Year’s Day, so the restaurant was understandably busy. Luckily we were in no rush, as our food took some time getting to us with the kitchen backed up. Our server was great and even comped one of our drinks due to the wait. A couple of our orders were delayed/missing a requests, but again, our group wasn’t feeling fussy because we knew there was a lot going on. The food was great, and we were pleasantly surprised that our sandwiches came with fries. (I’d suggest putting that on the menu, as some may feel like they need to order a side with it.)
Loved our New Years dinner! The food was delicious, as always, and our server Ian was great. He made some awesome suggestions. We loved them all.
So glad you had a good time. Thanks for ringing in the New Year with us! Hope to see you again soon!
Most of the food we had was very good. However, the duck man and cheese came out very burned and bitter tasting, which was a disappointment. The server was very kind and took it off our check, and we were able to find a suitable replacement.
Thanks for coming. Hope to see you again soon!
Food cold -came out 4 mins after ordered looked microwaved!
Great all around restaurant
Sadly, our server ruined our dinner. He was rude and insensitive to our dining needs. He had our appetizers come promptly, which was the only positive with him. Nothing good happened from there. He had our dinners come only 5-10 minutes after our appetizer which we were still eating and enjoying. Then, when we asked him to send back, he was annoyed with us, albeit his fault. He continually called us Miss.. which in excess becomes condescending and disrespectful to a degree. Then, my friend waited forever for her 2nd martini... why? Our reservation was for 6. It wasn’t that busy yet. Thankfully, that was not my first time and because of the other great experiences, it won’t be my last. I would still recommend it to friends, although, I wouldn’t recommend a certain server if they can avoid. Food was amazing and as always, so fresh. I will be sure to avoid this server at my next outing.
Delicious food for sharing with a larger group; great to get together with friends or family; food options for allow; accommodating of food allergies; very, very loud
Thanks for coming! Stop by again soon!
Excellent food, drinks and desserts in a lovely modern venue
Aaron was such an amazing server!!! Very attentive & sweet! We’re coming back to request him :)
The food was delicious but the music was so loud we couldn’t have a conversation
Bar Siena is great. The food was exceptional and the service was outstanding. We had a family Christmas celebration there and everyone really enjoyed themselves.
Unfortunately, our food was coursed so poorly that we barely had any room for the salad and soup we ordered, which came last. It was evident that the pizza we received had been fired for another table, but given to us, since it came so quickly and before any of the other food. A disappointment, to say the least.
Very good meal. I had never been for lunch before, only dinner. Great for a business lunch.
Went to this Bar Siena with my partner expecting a yummy meal and a relatively relaxed space. We got the absolute opposite of this. Not only was the restaurant painfully loud, the food was flavorless and overpriced for the food quality. I honesty would’ve been more satisfied with a pasta from a fast food place. I understand restaurants get hectic during the holidays but for a Tuesday night the noise level was at “bar in the loop on a Saturday night” level. Presentation was good. Server was a total sweetheart which is the ONLY redeeming quality about this establishment. We walked a couple of blocks down and found a much better place within the same price range. Definitely not coming back, 50 bucks down the drain.
Bar Siena has amazing food and fantastic service. The menu is changing often and so everytime we visit we get to try something new. Incredible flavors and fantastic dessert menu as well!
Another great meal! Great service and overall excellent experience.
The food was amazing! One of the best bloody Mary’s I’ve had. Beautiful restaurant as well. Would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Chicago!
Everything was great. One of the pizzas cans with nuts even though we asked for it without (friend had a nut allergy).
Our server Allison was excellent. So fun and attentive. We shared a few appetizers, salad and main dish. All were delicious. Great decor. I highly recommend.
To watch and celebrate my graduation from a master's program with me, my family (parents, brother, brother's girlfriend) drove up 5 hours from Ohio. My boyfriend and I had been to Bar Siena before and loved the food and were excited to share the experience with my out-of-state family (6-top party total) Unfortunately, the poor service ruined the experience. Once seated, we waited over 10 minutes for our server to come by and ask what type of water we wanted, and instead of also taking our drink orders for adult beverages, he only took the water order. The support staff was on top of it, immediately getting us water. But it was another 10 minutes after we got our water than the server came by to get our drink orders. This is now 20 minutes sitting there with no drink besides water and also no offer to put in an appetizer. Eventually, the server came by and took my parents orders (so 2 of the 6) but, allowed a nearby table to wave him over and interrupt us as he went and dropped the check to them-- in the middle of taking our order. At this point, I made the decision to only order one drink, as did my brother, his girlfriend, and my boyfriend, and my parents decided to not drink at all. We only ordered small pizza. The pizza came out faster than our server had ever come by our table (and was delicious). What could've easily been a $200-300 tab (2 drinks per person plus entrees) ended up being $100. We ended up finding another place in the area for brunch, where we experienced impeccable and attentive service. I am in the service industry myself, and I can say with confidence that when a table is waving me down while I am speaking to another table, I certainly ignore them or verbalize "I am with another table and will be right with you". If I am running behind, I at least do a table touch to acknowledge my guests even if I am running drinks or food to another party so they know that they have my attention. This server was by far the worst server I've seen in Chicago.
Popular weekend brunch spot - a reservation is a must. We sat upstairs but it's still very loud since open to below in the center, and the music is loud. Tables are very close together, which adds to the noise level. Our food was good and prices were reasonable. Server promptly took care of a problem with our order, once we flagged him down - there's lots of staff serving and clearing but it feels pretty impersonal. It's a see-and-be-seen, bustling atmosphere. Restroom was surprisingly tiny for a place this size, and dark.
