The food was good but the service was awful. Hostess and server were very rude to us.
I ordered the “Pilar Salad” and on the menu it said that it came with
I successfully made a reservation for New Year's Day and received a confirmation email, but upon arriving at Bar Pilar the restaurant was closed and I was forced to find an alternative brunch spot at the last second.
We did not have a good experience. Their menu was completely different from the one on open table and online.
Horrible service and dining experience. A complete lack of effort on the staff’s part. Waste of time and money.
Delicious! Great value too.
The ambiance is very cute, nice lighting, the music is decently hip. The service was also nice. The hostess was away from the stand when we arrived but caught up with us and sat us promptly. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and explained the menu well! The biggest and main disappointment was the food. The hush puppies tasted underdone and were not warm, the brussel sprouts were also not cooked through and tasted raw. The flavors were all one-note. The burrata was fresh and creamy, but a small portion and the peaches that accompanied it were not ripe and hard to cut through. Wasn't impressed and won't go back.
My friends and myself shared three dishes; the chicken and pancakes, the french toast supremo, and the pork hash. The Friend chicken was flavorful an unique, and hands down my favorite chicken and breakfast food I've had in DC. It was crispy and sticky with a slightly spicy syrup, so good! The pork has was very flavorful and robust in taste and was a little on the smaller side IMO, but still great. The french toast didn't "WOW"me, but it was pretty good for people who like french toast(not a huge fan myself). All in all the service was decent and food came out quickly and promptly. I would definitely recommend to try it out!
Great decor and ambiance. We sat in the upstairs dinning area for dinner and it was great. The food portions were very large and designed for sharing.
Food was delicious. Portion sizes were enormous. Don’t let the steep prices scare you!
Always great spot for brunch. Alleys happy with me u and service.
Some of the worst service I have experience. A table that arrived 10 minutes after us was helped first, I had to stand up to find a waitress to ask if we could place our order, etc. The breakfast tacos were good but the "salad" was a pile of lettuce with no dressing and nothing else. Not worth it.
The food was great and the drink deals were very good. $15 for the first mimosa and $1 refills after that. Everyone was very happy with their order. We ordered the Cinnabon after and it was delicious!
The food is always spot on with large portions to share. It’s a lively place that is not overly fancy. Drinks are generous and the menu changes often.
Outstanding! Really fun, excellent food, perfect for a larger lively group get together, highly recommend!
Came here for a Saturday brunch with a small group of 4. I've always walked past this place but never went inside. The owner greeted us at the table and told us about their local sourcing partners. We did the bottomless drinks for $8 for the first drink and $1 for each refill after that. I had the fried chicken on their pancake and it was amazing. It also comes with chucks of pork on it and combined with the syrup, it was pretty damn good. The only knock were the drinks. The Champagne was super harsh. I understand for Bottomless, you can't serve the good stuff but I've never had champagne this harsh. I'd recommend a switch to another brand. Other than that 4/ 5 stars. I'd come back.
Excellent service, delicious food, and fun drinks!
The bakers board is a must!!
Great food, large portions, and food comes out relatively fast. It is very loud.
Very eclectic, adorable atmosphere. Food was fantastic, overall a great night out.
I went here for my birthday with a bunch of girl friends. The atmosphere and food were great! Very good value for the price.
The food and drinks at Bar Pilar were excellent, but the upstairs dining area was very noisy. At multiple times my date and I could not hear each other and had to repeat what we were saying. There appeared to be a large gathering there on Friday night, though, so perhaps the noise level was unusual.
Gathered some friends for a flexible birthday drinks/happy hour evening. Staff was SUPER helpful will how we set things up, split the bill, etc. Great event spot!
Always has a nice environment and fantastic food.
We had happy hours. Banh mi and shrimp tacos were amazing! The sex on the beach was strong and hit the right spot before going to party next door! I would do it again.
We used to go to Bar Pilar fairly frequently for dinner, but we haven't been in some time because the quality of the food had declined. We decided to see if things had improved this weekend, and we went for brunch. The decline continues. There are so many places with good food in 14th Street, that you shouldn't bother with Bar Pilar any longer. The person who greets you at the door also needs some lessons in how to be friendly and welcoming.
My friends will not be getting bar pilar. My friend have not earned bar pilar. My friends do not deserve bar pilar.
Throughly enjoyed brunch - it was delicious. The service was also very good.
Its was ok, expensive, food selection was limited and was given no decision hiw my meat was to be cooked, beer was warm .
Excellent brunch selection and delicious, reasonably priced food.
Tasty brunch spot with just enough of a variety to satisfy everyone in the group.
The restaurant was in a good location and had a pretty expansive menu. The main issue was that our waitress was super rude. Our dining experience was fine in the beginning and she seemed nice enough to explain the menu. However, my friend asked if a certain dish was spicy- and she definitively said no, even after my friend was super specific that she was very sensitive to spice. The food came, and was way too spicy. Then at the end, we were trying to just get the waitresses attention (it was crazy crowded, she hadn’t checked in on us in a while, and it was super loud). My friend gave her a friendly wave (did not snap, did not act disrespectfully) and the waitress got super upset. She was was like “did you wave at me?!?” Super upset. We explained that it was not meant to be rude, but she just was like “I was coming toward you, I see no reason for you to WAVE at me...” it was uncomfortable and she was quite frankly, crazy rude. I would never, ever recommend this place to any friends given how rude the waitress was (the food was just okay).
Love Bar Pilar so much. Always an excellent and interesting menu available, lots of veg options and interesting cocktails.
Fantastic brunch and great service!
Great service food and presentation. That said was very pricey.
i asked about the breakfast bowl and the server said “reading is fundamental” but after reading the menu again there was no mention of a breakfast bowl
