I have been going to Bar Pesce since before it was Bar Pesce. Like Cafe Crudo (its previous incarnation), Bar Pesce offers excellent food, stellar service, and a laid-back but upscale environment. I have never had a bad meal at Bar Pesce, nor a bad drink, nor a poor server.
Without a doubt I would recommend this to foodies, someone trying to impress a date, or someone simply looking for an excellent cocktail.
We were very disappointed in Bar Pesce since we enjoyed eatint there many times when it was Crudo. Our food did not come out in the recommended order and was not as good as when we were there previously.
The appetizers were outstanding - the fish is freshest and tastily prepared. The main course was so-so. The stuff is very friendly and pleasant to chat with.
Small menu. But perfection. Everything done perfectly
Their service needs much work. Too much time between being seated and initial service. Too much time between courses. Yes, it was Restaurant Week & this was their excuse, but it was known ahead of time and at no time was every dining seat taken.
The food was very good but had to ask for bread when it was obvious it should've been served with the dish.
Our server (also a part owner) was aware of the problem and comped a glass of wine.
Terrible service. Rude waiter. 4 course tasting menu took over three hours to be served to us. Spent way more time there without food than with. Although the food is the same as it was under the name Crudo (and by that I mean it’s tasty), I wont be going back.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. This night the lights were out which we didn’t completely realize until the sun set. The service was so so slow. We literally could not see our food. I l always order the bone marrow. I asked if it was the same as it always has been was assured it was and it was completely different. I’m not sure i even got what i ordered. Not sure what is going on. Asked to speak to a manager, was assured someone would call us later because they couldn’t find a manger. Never happened. It was a very bizarre and disappointing experience.
Food was tasty, tried restaurant week menu, good deal and would go back fo try more dishes 👍🏻 chef does a good job on flavors
We have eaten at Crudo a number of times and have always enjoyed both the food and the experience. When we read about the rebranding we were curious to see what had changed. The answer, it seems, is nothing. The sign at the front still says Crudo. There is another sign in the dining room that also still has the Crudo name. The dining room itself looked no different than the other times that we dined there. The menu, we were there for the second night of Restaurant Week, had many great and diverse options and was not really different from the Crudo menus that we have seen before.
We enoyed our dinner. We chose two crudo dishes to start and had some wonderful mussels and Noble bread, the Orange Roughy and the short rib. The restaurant was a bit understaffed that evening so service was a bit slower than usual. However our waiter did his best to accomodate and our experience was still a good one.
So,if you haven't been to Bar Pesce, you should go. And if you have been to Crudo, you should return.
My first visit will be my last. For a Saturady night of Restaurant Week, the place was half empty and the dinner took 3 hours. When it takes nearly an hour for the first course to arrive, and it has mistakes, you know it isn't going to be a good night. The server was clearly in over her head - she couldn't even get water to the table without prompting - and she never explained the long delays. There are too many great restaurants in Phoenix to put up with lousy service and marginal food. Nope.
There was nothing terrible about this experience but there was nothing great either. The service was super slow for the amount of people that were inside the restaurant and my entree was like warm (gnocchi). We had 2 appetizers, and an entree each. The real all star was the Whataburger we got on the way home. LOL
Food was outstanding and CE’s service was great. My mom and I went for dinner at 6:30 on a Friday and were surprised to find ourselves the only ones there. However, our service was impeccable. C. E. helped answer any questions we had and made suggestions based on our stated preferences. All of his suggestions were wonderful. The swordfish crudo was my favorite dish of the evening. Our wine was lovely. Other tables came as the night went on, and it was clear they received the same level of wonderful service. The lighting and decor is well done on the inside, though we had some confusion finding the place originally because the building is still marked as “Crudo” on the signage. Wonderful meal. I would go back the next time I’m in Phoenix
Food and cocktails were amazing . Salmon outstanding. The service was friendly, but just a bit over informative. The furnishings are stark, so not an inviting atmosphere.. Overall a wonderful night !.
Food was great, service was attentive. However I wasn’t into the ambience; perhaps the location has something to do with it as it’s in the back of a strip mall.
Food superb , service excellent!
We arrived at 6:00 PM. At 7:30 we still had not received our main courses. We left, without eating. This was a terrible experience, entirely avoidable, had our waiter and the staff paid attention.
Over priced small portions. The bartender made a drink with sour milk and proceeded to have the wait Staff taste it. Sure hope it didn’t go out to a customer
Heard you on Beth and friends, disappointed it didn’t live up to the hype. Too many other restaurants in town to waste my time
Going back here
Food was really good, service was not so good. Waitress was very friendly just maybe to big of section. She definitely missed out on some sales.
Terrible service. Food was mediocre at best. Steak undercooked. Pasta cold. Dessert was the only thing that was worthwhile. Oh and there was no proper signage so we couldn’t even find it easily. Given the write ups we were expecting something really good. We were very disappointed.
Fabulous food. Slow service. Great value.
Overall the food and service was good, however we did leave hungry. The portions were very small.
Bar Pesce is SO good. I have not stopped talking about it, and I even already have another visit planned. I do not usually leave reviews but I HAD to share. Go!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best restaurants in Phoenix
We were here for brunch three years ago when on vacation from Chicago, and returned to try it in its new iteration. Fabulous food, the Crudo is superb, as is the arugula salad and the squid ink risotto. Loved the salted caramel doughnut for dessert. Our server, C.E. was excellent! Will return whenever in Phoenix!
Would never go back again. The food was extremely salted! The only thing we liked was the deserts
They were short staffed on the floor and the kitchen. Things were just off. We’d be willing to give them another try when they get things in order. Some dishes were very delicious, others missed the mark.
Great! Great ambience
Expected more interesting dishes, from the reviews my expectations maybe were too high.
Our first time here since it changed it's name from Crudo. The food and ambiance were the same, which is to say the food was excellent and the restaurant was not remodeled or changed. We love the choice of 3, 4 or 5 course meals as well as ordering a la carte. We both chose a 4 -course meal and we loved all the selections we made. The crudo here is still wonderful; so fresh and creative. The pastas were also wonderful, especially the melt-in-your-mouth gnocchi. We shared a chocolate pudding for dessert which was very nice but a bit overpriced at $10. I didn't consider it a very busy night and we weren't in a rush but I was surprised that we waited so long between courses. The pace seemed a bit off and our 4 course dinner took well over 2 hours. Don't eat here if you are in a hurry but it you want a great foodie experience at a leisurely pace, you will enjoy Bar Pesce. If I had any complaint, it was that the music was a bit loud and while I liked all the music that was played, it didn't seem like the music selections were a fit for the venue.
My husband and I had mixed feelings about this place. I loved my arugula salad, and the market fish (bass?) was excellent. My husband loved his ricotta salad and his gnocchi. The problem was that some of the portions were quite small for the price. Also, the crab starter was swimming in butter, which was not to my liking. Perhaps most importantly, our server was a problem. She was rather cold and brusque. She was extremely short with her answers to questions, which made me feel uncomfortable, as though I was 'bothering her'. If I'm spending over $100 on a meal, I think a few questions should be acceptable.
Everything was great besides some of the couples tables were to close to each other. Hard to keep a conversation going while others did too.
The food and cocktails were out of this world. A "foodies" paradise.
Delicious! So glad we tried it. Love that you can pick 3, 4 or 5 course meal and so reasonable! Would definitely go back.
Menu on website is not current. We, and others, ate in heavy coats because the room was so very cold. The menu is very pretentious and unless you are a foodie, you won’t know what many of the offerings are, and ordering was uncomfortable. However, the selections we finally made were delicious.
Crudo used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Phoenix, so I was bummed to hear it would be changing, but my concerns were unfounded. If you liked Crudo you will love Bar Pesce. The food, service, and ambiance have kept their very high quality and everything was truly delicious. I would highly recommend this spot!
Chef Cullen pours his heart into his food and he shows his interest in your experience. Great food, great staff, great bar and cocktails too!
Short review: bad service and bad, salty, expensive food.
The food and the service were both below average. The server forgot to tell us the specials, forgot to say which dishes they were out of, took my order and then walked away without even looking at my friend, and then forgot her drink order once she put it in. He was making jokes about forgetting stuff and it just wasn't funny. It was almost deserted at 7pm on Saturday night so there was really no excuse.
The raw dishes were fine but the pasta was WAY oversalted to the point where I struggled to eat it. The meat was dry and burnt. Some of the appetisers had weird flavours that didn't work together. They were also out of 4 different menu items despite the almost empty restaurant, and the very short menu.
For $100/head, I expect way more.
Bar Pesce (formerly known as Crudo) is our favorite spot in town. The food never disappoints and is always spectacular. The service is excellent and the building itself is lovely.
Kyle at the bar was amazing. Great drinks and great service.
Restaurant was understaffed - our waiter took a long time to take our order and the food took a while to come out. When it did arrive, both dishes (Pork Belly & Fillet) came out dry. The Crudo was very good although probably not worth the high price.
