   Great food, service terrific, and quality of ingredients amazing. I would recommend only two people go. The tables/booths are small and cramped for four people. I will definitely go back with only one other person.

   We had an excellent experience. Servers were perfectly attentive, and the food was first rate. Even the cocktails were inspired. Will return gladly.

   Well that was good! We had the queso to start, meh. The Cap Marg was nice and Oaxacan Ole Fashion was really nice. Wifey had pork belly tacos and I had enchilada plate. Both delish. Service spot on. We will be back!

   We had only visited Bar Nico in the summer and sat outside on the lovely patio, and the food was great. Today we went for a relaxing Friday after a challenging week at work, and I was looking forward to a margarita. The noise level was 11 out of ten. We had to shout to be heard at our table for two, which was not at all relaxing. Asked for another table, the noise was just as bad. We didn’t stay, went home to eat leftovers. What a disappointment.

   We had a reso and they didn’t have enough tables, so we waited 20 minutes before sitting at the bar to eat.

   Hard to find, perhaps a better sign outside? Atmosphere was very comfortable. Our server was exceptional! Food was delicious. I enjoyed my Paloma immensely!

   Bar Nico is by far and away my favorite restaurant in the Des Moines area. Chef Matt does such a great job changing up his menu seasonally. He does such a great job of blending texture, flavor, spice, all into one amazing dish and the drink selection is incredible and innovative just like the dishes. His staff is also absolutely amazing and very hospitable and professional. Bar Nico does all of this while being 100% gluten free! If you have celiac disease or a reaction to gluten this place is the place for you! I know from experience a lot of times gluten-free dishes don’t taste as good or close to what you may have had before my celiac diagnosis. However, as I mentioned before this restaurant does not cut any corners, and the food is as authentic as it can be! Again, recommend 10 out of 10 times! We have gone several times and are planning to go even more! Hats off to chef Matt and his staff!

    Had a reservation and had to wait 30+ min. Other than that it was great!
