High quality tapas but did not appreciate lack of menu with prices and strong feeling of upselling. All restaurants want to make a profit, but here it felt a little too blatant.
Amazing tapas dinner! As this was our visit to Barcelona, we appreciated that the staff was warm, friendly and so helpful. We let them pick our menu and it was superb! Scallops, clams, tuna tartare, shrimp omelet, pork and steak were all outstanding! When we are in Barcelona again, Bar Mut will be our first stop!
It’s the third time and the food was exceptional. The owner makes the difference by adding to the whole ‘experience’. Missed him on this visit.
Bar Mut is a casual dining spot with a limited number of tables. The menu is a variant of tapas and the food is very good quality. We had a small portion of scallops and a sea bream that we shared with another couple. Both were delicious. Staff are very helpful in guiding you to dishes that reflect your food interests. Meals are a little expensive- each scallop was €6 but they were among the best I’ve eaten. I would recommend Bar Mut for a nice casual dining experience.
It was such an incredible experience! Not only was the wait staff lovely and super friendly everyone was so accommodating. We also couldn’t decide what to do so they basically made us a wine dinner of all of their favorite dishes! 4 mains and 1 dessert - it was unforgettable and I would recommend this place to any and everyone looking for a great easy and very enjoyable night in Barcelona.
Outstanding. Experience before our cruise from Barcelona. Delightful evening.
Far and away the best meal we had in Barcelona! The chef came out to take our order, and we three placed ourselves in his capable hands. 1st tapas course was a bowl of cockles in a briny broth, and a bowl of clams in a butter/garlic/parsley broth, paired with crusty bread, along with our cocktails (Hendricks G&Ts for my two companions, a Campari & soda por moi). 2nd course was the innovative and delicious Egg Carpaccio, with flash-sauteed shrimp & fried shoestring potatoes. 3rd course was possibly even better - Risotto with Marchego cheese. The 4th course was either pheasant or young duckling (2 legs and thighs) cooked in a very deep reduction along with spring onions, root vegetables, asparagus, and fried potatoe. The 5th and final savory course was fresh Ahi tuna tartar over a tower of avacado, topped with fried potatoe ribbons. All paired beautifully with a lovely Rioja Tempranillo Riserva, which also went well with the dark chocolate brownies for dessert. Superb service, great ambiance, and creative and delicious food - I HIGHLY recommend Bar Mut if you are in Barcelona!
What a cool, quirky restaurant with surprisingly awesome food. Wait staff were really helpful and fluent in English which was great for us as tourists. Would go back again in a minute.
Excelente la calidad y preparacion de la comida, muy agradable ambiente y esmerada y amigable atención.
GO! Sit at the bar. Let Matthias plan your menu and have Ariana pour your drinks. You will have a great time and be sad to leave.
Food just unbelievable and the staff were friendly and very funny - best we found in Barcelona
A delightful very small bar with a top rate wine list, marvelous creative food/tapas There is no menu but one of the servers come to your table, talk to you about what you like and how hungry are you. We started with glasses of Cava. The wine list was quite extensive. We had clams steamed in a really nice sauce. A burrata cheese salad with an orange dressing A very large piece of dome of the creamiest burrata I ever had. We followed with a plate of steak carpaccio, which was prepared as a very flavorful plate of finely chopped beef with the consistency of a salsa. But the true highlight was the lobster and eggs. Presented first as the cooked lobster in a pan then brought back to the kitchen for removing the meat and cooking with eggs. Now one of my favorite dishes anywhere. Rich and creamy. We finished with a delicious unique cheesecake unlike any I ever had before. Overall a wonderful experience. Tables and counters are small bar type seating. There are no prices and some of the dishes are quite pricey. If you can deal with the tab the food is special
Superb food. The host sat down with us as soon as we were seated and she walked us through the evening’s offerings, asking about our likes and dislikes and any allergies. They then brought five overlapping courses designed to our liking, and everything was perfect.
Great food, fantastic service!
Love this restaurant! Food is amazing, great atmosphere, people very friendly and accommodating. Try to visit on every trip to Barcelona!!
Cosy and nice bar. Nice wine, friendly waiters and top ambience. Being first timers we felt a bit trapped in the setup where you don’t get a menu to read at the table and the waiter ended up recommending some dishes which resulted in way too much food for two people and a bill which was much higher than what we had intended to spend. Expectation management could have been better, and would have avoided that we felt slightly disappointed when leaving.
Really excellent quality tapas in an informal setting. Would certainly recommend for visitors to Barcelona.
