Our waitress, Andrea, was incredible and made the night so enjoyable! She was attentive and patient, and she made sure we had everything we needed. Would go back for the excellent service alone (but the food was great too)!
The food was a little disappointing. The amount was not proportional to the value.
I always enjoy Bar, every time I have dined there. I have to say the chef's menu with wine pairings is one of the best values in town. So much yummy food at such a great price. And it's a great way to try a little of everything on the menu.
Bar Mezzana is fantastic and one of the best restaurants in Boston. However, I was a bit disappointed in a few things during my most recent visit.
The root vegetable salad was a pile of raw vegetables. Instead, I’d prefer larger pieces roasted to bring out the flavor. Also, the squash hummus was watery squash-tasting liquid pooling in the bottom of the plate and not hummus-like consistency.
The truffle fettuccine came loaded with shaved black truffle but somehow lacked truffle flavor or smell. It was disappointing.
Lastly, the ravioli were a bit flat and would pack for flavor with more filling.
All that being said, BM is great and I’ll certainly be back
Went to Bar Mezzana for our 35th wedding anniversary and the food was incredible. I’ve eaten here before but this was my wife’s first visit. From the appetizers to the pasta to dessert everything was phenomenal! My absolute favorite restaurant in Boston. Our server Saul was excellent. My wife can’t wait for a return visit.
Had a great dinner with a friend last Thursday's evening. We opted for 2-great seats at the bar and enjoyed a cocktail with Philipe, after which we shared an appie, salad, and a couple of great pasta dishes, with the spaghetti being the best of the bunch thanks go Philipe's recommendation. It is not cheap but I am always willing to pay a fair price for quality food and fare. I would not hesitate to return again.
As great as expected. The Chef’s crudo sampler was absolutely delectable! I highly recommend it.
Food as always spot on. Service exceptional. Why go anywhere else?
Excellent, as always!
All around wonderful night
Loved it... can't wait to come back. Family style option was a terrific value and exactly what we were looking for in terms of a great sampling of all the options.
The crudo was so delicious! We had octopus pasta and lamb shank and they were so delicious and perfectly spiced. The wait staff was so friendly and helpful, we asked our waitress a lot of questions and she was extremely helpful and steered us well for drinks and desserts. Close quarters but it was fine.
Food is good but the pastas are a must......they were delicious!
The food was outstanding and the service was very personable and attentive but not hovering.
We were disappointed in our meal. The bread was undercooked, the octopus appetizer was so overcooked that the octopus was inedible, and my pasta with promised black truffles had truffles with absolutely no flavor. The other pasta dish had pasta that was undercooked. The gelato however was excellent. We had heard good things about the restaurant but won’t be returning.
A neighborhood gem! Great food, service and atmosphere. One of our "go to" favorites. Looking forward to the next time.
Everything was good until I read the fine print of “administration fee” attached to the total to make it the subtotal. The Resturant should know better and just raise menu prices so the co Sumer knows exactly what your paying for then to be surprised by this charge.
Poor management. It should be BOH.
This reflected in a poor tip.
Great meal excellent service for a family birthday celebration
We had the most wonderful dinner on Saturday, 2/15. I had wanted to try Bar Mezzana for some time now and finally decided to book a reservation for Valentine’s Day. We were not disappointed. I first have to say the entire experience was elevated thanks to our amazingly gracious and competent waitress, Fernanda, who I felt was hosting us in her home. She walked us through the entire menu, offered suggestions of what meals she enjoys but also suggested items depending our preferences. Everything she recommended was absolutely wonderful. We started with the Prosciutto Wrapped Dates—excellent. We moved on to the Prosciutto di San Daniele and the Spanish Octopus—delicious.
The pastas are really the highlight. My partner had the Orecchiette with sausage and it was perfect for a cold evening dinner. I chose an off the menu item, Cacio e Pepe—it was so creamy and delicious and just simple—not too complicated. We also sampled the Spinach ravioli and the Fig, Gorgonzola and Salami crostini—every item that came out was perfection.
We highly recommend dining here and are looking forward to our next reservation. I want to finish by saying the waitress was absolutely lovely and really made the entire experience. We hope you have the chance to meet her.
Food was excellent, as was service. Thoughtfully sat us at a specific table where noise would be at a minimum since someone in our party was hard of hearing. All in all a fabulous experience. Will definitely go back.
I wish I could remember out wait person. She had glasses and short brown hair. Very nice, attentive and attentive to my wife’s dietary needs.
Great vibe. Craft cocktails. I’ll be back!
Last minute reservation and really excellent staff. Great job.
Great spot. Front desk staff was on-the-ball. Bar was full and created a great vibe from the time we walked in. Decor was simple and tasteful. Octopus app unique and tasty. Halibut entree cooked PERFECTLY. My guest had the bolognese which was top notch. Not because the sauce was mind blowing, but rather because the pasta itself was excellent. Perfectly al-dente. Five stars can’t wait to return.
Excellent service. Greeted and sat quickly. Server was knowledgeable and polite. Food was decadent and delicious. The Crudo tasting menu was amazing. Pasta dishes to die for. And the lamb..... out of this world.
Great food. Attentive—but not overbearing—service. Lovely, comfortable space. Very nice experience.
Hugely overrated. Heavy hot fresh meals
We went for brunch and got non-alcoholic drinks that were amazing! The eggplant crostini appetizer was very good. The main meal was very average - a little too heavy on the butter. The dishes sounded good on paper but were ordinary.
Staff were excellent We were late but they got us in and out to theater
Food was brilliant
Delicious meal! We started with Crudo and sampled the Yellowtail and Striped Bass. Each is four small slices and easy to share. Then an eggplant Crostini while we waited for our pasta. And the main course did not disappoint. Each delicious in their own right, but the Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli was out of this world.
Loved the food and alcohol
Excellent as always. Food, servers, front desk all deliver superb customer experience.
Very good food and friendly service. Eclectic wine list mostly Italian. Overall a very pleasant experience
We went in on a Friday night: my husband, I and our 7-year old. This is a place where adults can have a stellar meal, and kids too (without relying on ridiculous kids menus). Everything was excellent.
Delicious crudo and amazing pasta dishes. One of my favorite places to eat.
The food and service were very good ! The place is beautiful and casual chic !
When I visit Boston, I go to Bar Mezzana and am always blown away by all aspects of the dining experience. A must for brunch, lunch, and dinner.
Had a great birthday brunch at Bar Mezzana. The frittata portion was small but appetizers and egg sandwiches with fries made up for it. Waiter very attentive and brought out a scoop of gelato as a birthday gift. Similar kind sentiments offered at one of Barbara Lynch’s other restaurants this past summer. Wait staff truly care about clientele.
