This is by far one of the best Italian inspired restaurants in Boston! If you want incredibly delicious food and amazing wine, you have to come here. Perfect quality food for a fair price with a cool atmosphere. This place is always 5-stars!
Excellent service and the food was very good, especially the orichietti pasta dish. Also very nice to get good bread and evoo prior to meal
Our group tried the crudo sampler, French toast, pork belly hash, and fusilli for brunch. Everything was delicious, and the handmade pasta was definitely the highlight. Only downside was slow + inattentive service (forgivable when a restaurant is slammed, but it was only about half full. Our server didn't have many tables, either.). The food quality made up for those issues, and we'd like to come back some time for dinner!
Tasting menu is the BEST!! Can’t say enough great things about this restaurant - fabulous food, wonderful wine list, superb service and fun ambiance. You will love it!
Portion sizes not too big and pasta dishes were delicious
Food was excellent but service was very slow. We ordered everything within the first 5 minutes. Drinks and apps came out pretty quickly, but an hour later they told me that they were out of the entree I had ordered (and 2 others). Not a problem, but I was expecting the food to come then! It was another 20 minutes until food arrived.
They sent an extra dessert as an apology, but I would have preferred quicker service overall (not their fault that they were out of the entree). That being said, everything we had was delicious, so, if you’re not in a time crunch, I would definitely recommend.
We were visiting from out of town and wanted to celebrate our anniversary. Saw it on a Best of Boston list. Looked interesting and reasonably priced. Met our expectations and then some. Both the hangar steak and mushroom fettuccine were excellent. So was the beet salad we shared as a first course. The waiter offered wine suggestions that complemented our entrees very nicely. Other than the high noise level and a gelato for dessert that had an icy texture and camebup short on flavor, it was a perfect evening.
We had dinner at Bar Mezzana while in Boston with my son visiting a college. We were in walking distance from our hotel. The food and service were both excellent.
Dined with my husband here for my birthday. Lovely food, and when the waitress realized it was my birthday she had the kitchen send out their ricotta pound cake as an extra dessert. Loved every bite we ate!
Very nice neighborhood restaurant. Nice ambiance. Great food. Interesting wine list
Great place—with very good food and warm, attentive service
Some good, some bad, overall: overrated. The Good: nice space; very good and friendly service; olive oil with bread was very good; we had two crudos which were delicious especially the yellowtail; cocktails were very unusual and delicious. The Bad: a crab crostini was terrible, very little flavor or creativity more like tuna fish salad on toast; we had two pastas that were good but nothing special.
Meal was a 10
The food was great. The tasting menu is a good value. Cocktails and dessert are delicious!
It was so good. Service was on point. They offered us a dessert and some drinks for our anniversary. They were awesome
The food awesome! I had the Parccari and it was so flavorful.
A fantastic time. Great food: lamb chops, pasta with nuts, and sea bass crudo. With plenty of hard cider. Super service - an all around friendly and professional crew. And if you need to shop for your next dinner, Whole Foods is a block away!
Great food selection and interesting wines. Love the small plate and crude options.
I am a picky eater mainly because my husband is a fantastic cook. We picked this place based off solid reviews online and a recommendation from a friend. We LOVED it. The crudo was absolutely delicious. Also the spanish octopus was out of this world and we've tried octopus at every boston restaurant. Drinks were great and the service was fantastic. We were extremely pleased and we will come back again. All of our food was fantastic. We love small plates and freshseafood but also a mix of italian. It was great!!!!
I love Bar Mezzana. Great cocktails, great food, such a great and welcoming staff. The crudo tasting is 👌🏻 and I highly recommend the chicken liver crostini. Go here!
Very nice ambiance, although a little bit noisy. Ask for an external table with friends (reservation is recommended). Must try the pasta with lobster!
Staff bumped into me at least 6 times, apologized for half of them. Mozzarella was the WORST we have ever tasted. Too firm and absolutely tasteless. One main dish was lukewarm, at best. Finally, the dessert crostata was so crisp that it could not be cut. Overall, a very poor showing....and not cheap.
We came here for a birthday dinner and had a great time. Our waitress was drama free and very helpful. She always appeared when we needed her, and she had opinions when we asked for them, which we like. Unlike some restaurants, we weren't constantly attempting to flag down a waitress or having to listen to hemming and hawing. The kitchen seems to be well-organized and efficient. We especially enjoyed the crudo (yellow fin) and octopus. The orrecchiette with sausage etc. was too salty and a bit too greasy. The chicken under a brick was excellent. Chicken isn't just for eating at home any more. The wine list takes some getting used to - there are some gems in there but not the usual items, which is a good thing. This is one of those places you need to visit more than once to get the hang of it. I look forward to our next trip.
From when they first opened to dining several years later the food and drink here is always impressive and well done. This place is always a solid bet and a great spot to bring people to impress. The snack, crudo, and small plate menu changes over enough to keep returning customers excited about new items and the staples are always there to please. So excited they are opening a new place for me to eat across the street!
very solid option lunch and dinner! the service is a bit stuffy but the food is solid and.
We went to brunch just to have the soft scrambled eggs with caviar and Boursin, which is amazing, but the eggs Benedict was probably the best we’ve ever had. And we’ve had a lot!
Cool atmosphere with different takes on Italian food. Great experience
Food was creative and well executed. Service did not meet standards expected for a restaurant of this price point.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in town. The food and wine are amazing every single time we’ve been in for dinner, and the service is outstanding. We took my parents here Saturday night, and once again, they did not disappoint. Every dish we ordered (and there were many) was delicious, with inventive details that tied the whole meal together. I would recommend this to place to everyone I know.
Anniversary dinner. Can’t wait to return. It was a fabulous experience
Phenomenal and varied cocktails, generous portions of high quality seafood (go for the lobster paccheri, wow!), beautiful and understated design.
Decided at last minute to dine here. A great choice! The wine list is very eclectic; Although I collect wine, there were many types I have never tried. And bot the bartender and our waitress were very knowledgable and helpful with our choices. The food was outstanding. The chicken was among the best I have ever tasted, and my wife's pasta was slightly spicy and delicious. We got there early, since we have a relatively long driver home, but the dining room filled up quickly. We have already begun to recruit friends to return with us.
The prosciutto and homemade mozzarella were to die for! Will definitely be back!
Food was very good and the waiter was very friendly and helpful, but we had to wait a long time for our meals and it was hard to have a conversation because of the noise level.
Good but not great.
Great drinks appetizers and entrees plus dessert was excellent
We had an excellent meal the other night. Service was fun and knowledgeable. Everything was great from the first bite of salty-sweet figs to the last bite of grapefruit gelato.
We chose to sit outside, and it was a good move. Conversation was easy and the temperature was comfortable (inside was very chilly).
LOVED the "1794" cocktail (tasted like a Rusty Nail, but with a pleasant fruitiness). Food was fresh and well-prepared.
Fun time all around.
Amazing food and service! Will definitely be returning again soon!
Absolutely loved this place. Get the Orecchiette and the Lobster pasta. they wont disappoint.
