Bar Mezzana is a coastal Italian restaurant by Chef Colin Lynch at Ink Block in Boston’s South End, specializing in crudo and hand-made pasta. Signature dishes like Chicken Under a Brick, Grilled Octopus and Orecchiette with Sausage have become instant classics. Seasonal menu updates incorporate flavors from local farmers and purveyors. The crudo menu changes daily - think Nantucket bay scallops and razor clams along with Japanese and European delicacies like shima aji and lubina. All are expertly prepared with bright touches of citrus, oils and salts.

    Bar Mezzana is one of the best restaurants in Boston. Heather and her husband are consummate hosts and everything they do is done with class, and the utmost taste. I have brought chefs from out of town to done there and every one is impressed. Long live Bar Mezzana..

    Terrible service. The crudo was served warm?!?, and the scampi was lazy and lacked flavor. Unshelled shrimp that hadn’t been de-veined was the cherry on top of a lousy experience. Never again

    Ended up just snacking/cocktiling at the bar. Had to leave earlier than expected due to an unexpected family issue - bar staff could not have been more helpful and professional! Definitely will return soon!

    We went for the Wednesday $1 oysters, arrived at 5:40pm and were told the oysters were sold out. Some of us had driven quite a distance and had planned to eat mainly oysters this time. Eventually the kitchen found 13 oysters for the 3 of us. The 4 Damariscotta oysters were especially fine. After getting over our disappointment, we ordered off the menu and the food and drinks and service were excellent.

    Hi Barbara, I'm sorry we were out of oysters. The promotion is just meant to be a fun offering for the dog days of summer! It is more popular some nights than others. Oysters are not an item we typically offer so when the 200 we have delivered on Wednesday mornings run out, we are totally out. I'm glad you found the rest of the experience to be excellent! Other than the oysters, was there anything else that we didn't quite deliver on? Service, Ambience and Value were all 3 stars, which is certainly lower than we strive for. I'd love any additional feedback if you have it. Thank you for joining us.

    First time here in a while...everything was great and on the whole, not outrageously expensive. The service was friendly and professional. Portions are suitable for sharing without feeling stuffed - this lets you try multiple offerings. Obviously very popular for many years for a reason!
