Absolutely Incredible Experience at Bar Mar! From the moment we walked in, everything at Bar Mar exceeded expectations. The ambiance is vibrant and upscale, with a stunning interior that sets the perfect mood. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and made great recommendations that elevated our experience. Every dish was executed flawlessly — the seafood was fresh, the flavors were bold, and the presentation was top-notch. The cocktails were just as impressive — creative, balanced, and beautifully crafted. This place is a must-visit if you're in Chicago and looking for a memorable night out. Can’t wait to come back!

We enjoyed the restaurant, which was conveniently located not far from the Goodman Theater, where we attended a matinee performance. Also, super close to the train stations! The restaurant was lovely, and the service was attentive. My only quibble is that the menu was not very extensive. Although I liked my food, it didn't seem there were many choices. Our server mentioned a few specials, but a special menu would have helped us remember them!

I unintentionally booked a 4:30pm reservation for next Friday. When we figured out my mistake, I asked if we could have a table because the restaurant was empty. The hostess said only if we finish before 5:30. I walked outside and booked a table for that night at 4:30. The reservations were WIDE open. I went back inside and showed her my new reservation. She asked my name as if she never saw me. We were seated and had a fantastic dinner but your hostess is terrible.

Great choice for raw seafood. Enjoyed the salmon crudo and the ceviche. Sea bass was a good entree but it's a bit rich with a butter sauce and does not come with a side, a starch would help balance it. The restaurant opens right onto the patio for a great view and ambience even sitting indoors.

The only downside to an incredible evening was there was confusion at the valet stand. Other than that, we enjoyed every minute and every bite at Bar Mar. Even the house salad was memorable. The service was outstanding, as was the attention to detail. We were treated like royalty. It's informal, but without question a place to celebrate special occasions. We will definitely return.

The three of us all ordered lobster rolls. They were small like a child’s size. They were delicious, but they did not fill us up. So we ordered dessert which was good. The service was outstanding, but I will never return due to the cost of our dinner. We did not receive any value for the tiny lobster rolls. I felt embarrassed by the small amount of food we received. Tat the end of our meal, our waitresses tried to take my small bag of potato chips. I had to grab them back and tell her that I was still pretty hungry and wanted to finish them on my ride home.

By far one of my best experiences at a restaurant in general. The service was fantastic, the wait for food was never long. They timed the appetizer and main dishes perfectly. Our server was very kind and attentive to our needs. Would 100% return and will be soon.

The food was unbelievably good. The service was very attentive and the ambience was simply beautiful. Our only challenge was the valet which is an outside contractor company did not show up and we had to find a place to park on the street the Materre D did try to find out what it happened to the valet and was very apologetic. We would go again for any reason.
