Bar Japonais offers a vibrant dining experience with "amazing food and service." The omakase is frequently praised, though service timing can vary. The ambiance is lively, albeit "very loud," which may detract from the dining experience. Standout menu items include the "delicious" salmon maki and inventive cocktails.

First time dining at Bar Japonais. There were 5 of us for a Friday night dinner. Overall I definitely recommend Bar Japonais. Everyone had something different that explored the whole menu. Okinawan Old Fashions were great way to kick off dinner that included edamame, vegetable tempura and Karaage. All were excellent choices that was extremely tasty and satisfying. The tempura was outstanding! Bar Japonais offers a range of dishes that was perfect for this group as some don't like seafood. Dinner choices included sashimi and maki roles to steak frites to Japanese curry. The sashimi was pure joy -- smooth, delightful and oh so tasty. Definitely recommend the Japonais maki role if you go. Wait staff were on point -- not too intrusive but there when you needed something. The one big negative that I would give Bar Japonais that I mentioned to the Hostess on the way out the door, was the kitchen runners. They had no idea what table they were serving. We were constantly interrupted with food that was not ours before and after our food was served. This is one area Bar Japonais needs to improve. Other than that I definitely recommend for a great dinner out.

Overall not what I had hoped. Made reservations for Omakase and what was supposed to take an hour and a half took 2 and a half hours, didn’t get our appetizer for 40 minutes and the service was just not good unfortunately. Sushi was great though.

Amazing food and service. The hamachi with dill was amazing. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and gave us some very interesting information regarding sake and introduced us to doburoku.

Waiter was a bit pushy and almost tried getting us out as fast as she could. Didn’t get the order right and had to ask for some dishes 3 times. Food was good and drink decent.

I went to Bar Japonais for dinner on a Friday night. While the food was good, I was disappointed by how long it took for the food to arrive. We were a party of 3 and 2 of us received our first course of the Omakase 40 minutes after ordering; our third had finished there entree before our second course arrived. After being there for over 2 hours, we received 5/8 Omakase courses and decided to leave before finishing the Omakase. We were not expecting the coursing to be that slow and thought the staff would be more accommodating.

Had the most fabulous birthday dinner with the girls at Bar Japonais, and honestly, we're still talking about it. From the moment we sat down, our server Devonte made the evening unforgettable. After my friend casually mentioned it was my birthday, Devonte magically appeared with bubbly that was so smooth and light, we meant to ask what it was so we could make it our official celebration sip (aka girls' night fuel). A mystery we intend to solve on our next visit. Devonte guided us through the menu. Standouts? The salmon hand roll — generous and satisfying. The spicy tuna maki? A flavor bomb. The chicken and steak skewers were juicy perfection. Only slight miss was the tempura — a bit meh, so next time we’re doubling down on the spicy edamame. Dessert? Yes, we ordered all three. Because birthdays. The unanimous winner was the chocolate cake, which was light, refreshing, and dreamy. Oh, and Devonte? He sang happy birthday when the desserts came out. A server and a performer! We’re already plotting our next reservation, whether it’s for another big celebration or just a weeknight lychee cosmo (shout-out to the bartenders for mixing magic).
