We really like this place, they have a little tiny bar, but has very good service. Food is really good. Salmon tartare wonderful, and calcio e pepe, very good too. Wine list is excellent, we like the bread that ic like a cookie.
The food was outstanding. Wines and champagnes too expensive.
Very nice- good service. Prices are a bit high
We arrived late and wanted something close to our hotel at Park and 61st. It's a short walk to the restaurant; we were seated and served immediately. My bolognese was delicious as we my husband's dishes. My only complaint was the $19 for three small scoops of gelato -- pretty outrageous. Otherwise good experience.
Fantastic evening. Food was outstanding and the service was great. It was the final night of our honeymoon and the staff looked after us and made the occasion memorable - highly recommend this restaurant
Best New Years Eve dinner ever
Great restaurant with excellent food, although my plate was missing some salt. Great service!
Amazing jewel on the UES. Don't pass up this little treasure. The food was sublime and the staff made you feel right at home!
The food and service were both excellent. It was also very easy to carry on a conversation and enjoy the whole table of family.
Awesome from the time we walked in door until we left. Go. Waiters are superb, make great recommendations, and anticipate what you need/want next. Great tequila martinis. Great Arneis. Great calamari, seared tuna, great buratta, great veal ragu. Great everything. Go.
Wonderful spot. The Chef/Owner is amazing. Not just that he is a great chef who makes fantastic dishes, but also a wonderful human being who treats his guest as if they were eating in his home.
5 Stars Plus!!
My wife and I were made to feel very welcome. Friendly and attentive staff who were extremely helpful
Amazing food and service!
Really enjoyed our time and has quickly become our favorite go-to restaurant even though it’s a bit out of our immediate neighborhood. The staff is beyond gracious and the food is absolutely spectacular!
Best food....nice people!! Best restaurant in area.
Chef is italian and food is authentic....rare in many Italian restaurants.
Probably my favorite restaurant in NYC. I try to go whenever I’m in the City. This time I had my kids with me and they were able to find things on the menu they liked- can’t go wrong with Calamari, Pasta Carbonara, or a pizza. My wife and I loved the risotto with shrimp and the pasta special with truffles- that was amazing! This restaurant has never disappointed and can’t wait to return for the great food and service
Completely overpriced Madison Ave rest. $36 for spaghetti with butter? Overpriced wines by the glass and bottle. Only good for people who need to be gluten free since they have $32/38 GF pizza and pasta.
Bar Italia it’s a gem in the neighborhood. Service is really good, all the staff, bartenders, always very good ambiance. Chef Denis, it’s excellent, and you can ask for things that maybe are not in the menu. Try carbonara, calf liver, polenta is very good, swordfish , veal , puntarella
Good and tasty food. Nice setting and atmosphere, but way too expensive.
Best of the best
Well worth the visit
One of our NYC favorites
took awhile for the waiter to come but then, great service.....but the tables for two are MUCH too crowded....but a great neighborhood place....maitre d more interested in his friends at the bar than the other customers. fun ambiance.
Consistently great food and and a fun and festive atmosphere!
Excellent and attentive service. Food is always amazing! Consistently great spot in the neighborhood for an evening out.
I had a chicken special, basically chicken Marsala with a rice side. Soooo delicious!!! I am all in on this restaurant! Delicious!!!!
I’ve passed by Bar Italia many times over the past 2 years and said to my wife “ we’ve got to try eating there” and always forgot about it. Last Tuesday night we happened to be in the 3 blocks away and went. We weren’t disappointed food , service and ambience were terrific
Bar Italia it’s a neighborhood gem. Food, service, bar, wine list, ambiance, all staff are very good. Chef Denis can make you everything you want. We love this place, it’s very Italien. Try carbonara, veal picatta, calf liver, and excellent salads, burrada, general everything is very good.
I wouldn’t have minded that the food was underwhelming but the service was absolutely horrible. My worst experience in New York.
Had a wonderful lunch here with a friend. Tuna salad (not what you're thinking) was exceptional. Pasta carbonara was very good. Attentive service and nice ambiance. What's not to like??
I grew up in NYC although have lived in Philadelphia for a number of years. I’d never been to Bar Italia until this past weekend. It was so incredibly delicious, from the focaccia to the wine to the salad to the entree (we had dessert elsewhere). We will absolutely be back - I think it’s our new favorite. My husband and I loved our meals as did our picky 16 and 14 year olds. It was noisy but energetic - we could hear each other perfectly. The ambiance is hip and cool - much cooler that you’d expect on the UES. And the staff was incredibly solicitous without being overbearing and very knowledgeable of the menu. Like I said, we will be back..:I can’t wait!!
Service always very good! the customer service is always outstanding!
Best service on Madison and delicious food! We always enjoy going to Bar Italia! Thank you for yet another wonderful evening.
Love the authentic Italian food ( the Italian chef Denis Franceschini), and the pictures from the old Italian movies on the walls. Especially when they actually play some old classics, like La Dolce Vita, on the back screen. Makes for a perfect date night.
Fantastic! Enjoy Bar Italia when we visit NYC. The staff is so personable and attend to your every need. The food is fresh and made to perfection. The cheese selection is delicious. A must for a nice dinner on the Upper East Side when in NYC.
I curse you! Italian food anywhere else is ruined for me. There is ONLY Bar Italia.
Place caters to the Madison Ave rich white people. Nothing wrong with that, but it was obvious there was no diversity in the crowd. That's why I won't be going there again. Food is good, service was okay.
Great ambiance, exquisite food and professional service
Post-marathon meal...was great!
In bar Italia , service is always very good, attentive, nice and friendly. Food is excellent, wine list .we star coming and we did love. Chef Denis is really good and you can try things different , just asking him a day before. We ask for the carbonara with real guanciale, and they have it!!
It’s a very good place.
