$25 for Jonny Walker Black measured shot seems like a tourist trap price. Hamburger over cooked.
I would not recommend it.

The food is tasty; the people watching great but the prices are very high and it caters to neighborhood park ave elite. It’s the best/only option before shows at the park ave armory—in fact one of the only Madison Ave restaurants in the area. We felt a little like we weren’t one of their regulars. Very tight tables and despite reservations a pretty terrible table by door. But service terrific and we keep returning

We had Dover sole with fresh cut asparagus....it was delightful.
Paired with the Pouilly Fume la Doucette it was perfect.

Went there pre-theater at the The Armory. Food and service were excellent. Upscale local restaurant I would not hesitate to recommend. It seems like many of the negative review here center on price. What prices exactly do people think a restaurant paying UES rents on Madison/65 should be charging and be able to stay in business?

Gathering of friends before the theater. The pappardelle with mushroom was completely out of this world! You can’t go wrong with prosciutto and melon either. The waiter recommended great wine as well! I will be back.

Way overpriced for just simple pasta. We had three entrees and the bill was $200. No need to go back! LOL

Food was good - but everything happened too fast. We ordered pre-dinner drinks, mains and a bottle of wine. The food arrived before we’d even got half way through our pre-dinner drinks (within a few minutes of ordering). Not really the relaxing lunch we’d hoped for.

Everything was very good but the regular menu was quite pricey. We booked because it was restaurant week and we were able to have a wonderful meal at an affordable price.

I went to Bar Italia for Restaurant Week lunch, therefore the value was excellent. I started with the salad which was perfect taste-wise and just size-wise for a pre-lunch salad. I went specifically for the Rigatoni w/veal ragu as that is a favorite dish and I'm always looking for a restaurant with a good one. It tasted just fine, but I found it a bit salty, so 4 stars for the entree. I ended with the Panna Cotta which was excellent. Service was excellent. They were attentive without being overbearing and all the staff I dealt with were pleasant. I'd definitely recommend Bar Italia to friends.

It is small restaurant but it's cozy. I had best risotto after many years! The service was nice. The food was authentic Italian, I lived there, I know how it is. The audience was mixed, mature and younger people.

Too expensive for what it is. (Guess they have to pay the rent on Madison Ave.) The worst thing was that the Manager had an argument with the Hostess, which escalated in the back, and he yelled "You're fired!" Might not have meant it though as she seemed to still be there when we finished dinner. Not very professional way to run a very small restaurant!

Tables are very very close to one another and tiny!
No room for food if you order salad & main dish!
Waiter can’t get around table to serve without hitting other table..
It’s just not a dining “ experience”.

This restaurant did not disappoint. The food was fresh and filled with flavor. The GF options were fantastic. The wait staff was very knowledgeable about each dish, wine, etc. Service was excellent. I can't say enough about this restaurant. It is must for locals and visitors to NYC.

This place should really be relegated to tourists who don't know any better but it seems that a slew of UES mavens who don't want to walk a couple blocks from their apartment to eat keep this place in business. The food is unremarkable, the decor is early 90s all white, the service was tepid and even the gent who asked what kind of water we preferred had an attitude. Not a place to have a business lunch, not a place to see and be seen, not a place for a decent meal. Skip it.
