Great food and great service. This was my first visit to Bar Italia. I will definitely be back
Excellent, attentive staff + Delicious, and beautifully presented food = a family-friendly birthday lunch for my wife.
Terrible food. The ambiance is enjoyable. The waiters were nice.
Everything was very good but the regular menu was quite pricey. We booked because it was restaurant week and we were able to have a wonderful meal at an affordable price.
I went to Bar Italia for Restaurant Week lunch, therefore the value was excellent. I started with the salad which was perfect taste-wise and just size-wise for a pre-lunch salad. I went specifically for the Rigatoni w/veal ragu as that is a favorite dish and I'm always looking for a restaurant with a good one. It tasted just fine, but I found it a bit salty, so 4 stars for the entree. I ended with the Panna Cotta which was excellent. Service was excellent. They were attentive without being overbearing and all the staff I dealt with were pleasant. I'd definitely recommend Bar Italia to friends.
Bar Italia is just perfect! Great food, good services, nice atmosphere, for friends, for families, love it!
The staff, decor, food and service was all outstanding. An absolute gem.
Very good service. Had a carbonara that was good but not superb. Overall nice but very expensive drinks.
Went for my birthday dinner. It was great in every way! Definitely going back!
It is small restaurant but it's cozy. I had best risotto after many years! The service was nice. The food was authentic Italian, I lived there, I know how it is. The audience was mixed, mature and younger people.
Too expensive for what it is. (Guess they have to pay the rent on Madison Ave.) The worst thing was that the Manager had an argument with the Hostess, which escalated in the back, and he yelled "You're fired!" Might not have meant it though as she seemed to still be there when we finished dinner. Not very professional way to run a very small restaurant!
Food is really good.service too. We had the opportunity to talk to the chef and he suggested to call a day before so he can make a amazing food event
Love this restaurant! A favorite go to when in NYC!! Great food, drinks and service!!
Always love this restaurant just 2 blocks from home
Awesome top chef Dennis delivers art of Italian cuisine. Absolute miracle. Love it
Great place, veey good food, friendly waiters and chef
Good as always
Great food and service. Very nice place. Highly recommended Italian food.
Excellent gluten free menu.
Tables are very very close to one another and tiny!
No room for food if you order salad & main dish!
Waiter can’t get around table to serve without hitting other table..
It’s just not a dining “ experience”.
All was great.. except drinks are too small. Smallest we ever had.
This restaurant did not disappoint. The food was fresh and filled with flavor. The GF options were fantastic. The wait staff was very knowledgeable about each dish, wine, etc. Service was excellent. I can't say enough about this restaurant. It is must for locals and visitors to NYC.
My friend and I had a wonderful lunch. I can’t wait to go back.
This place should really be relegated to tourists who don't know any better but it seems that a slew of UES mavens who don't want to walk a couple blocks from their apartment to eat keep this place in business. The food is unremarkable, the decor is early 90s all white, the service was tepid and even the gent who asked what kind of water we preferred had an attitude. Not a place to have a business lunch, not a place to see and be seen, not a place for a decent meal. Skip it.
Great ambiance, great service, and personal attention from every worker at the restaurant. Food is excellent and Antonio is wonderful. A little pricey, but wonderful atmosphere worth the drive
Excellent food and service and great ambiance
2nd visit in 2 weeks - dined at the bar this time (am a dine at the bar kinda guy) and although very pleasant did not have a great vibe for dining. Food, Service, etc all still great this is just a personal preference . . . defiantly will be back - at a table 😀
Excellent impeccable service
Went specifically for the Branzino and it was awesomely delicious as was everything else we consumed that's evening and such a great wine list. . .will definitely be back to try other dishes
95th birthday lunch
Great Branzino and Aperol Spritz !!
The only thing we do not take issue with about our experience at Bar Italia was the service. There must have been at least 4 people who took care of us. The small round table was tight for 4 people - not enough room for all the plates and my 6 ft 4 uncle. The space is so noisy we could barely hear the maitre d recite the specials in his thick Italian accent.
The food was shockingly tasteless, and in the case of one appetizer - false advertising. No way was that real buffalo mozzarella (tasteless and solid; not soft, creamy or runny) nor was it worth $22 by any stretch. The carbonara that the waiter said was 'the best' had no richness or depth of flavor. My uncle asked for salt for a dish that is notoriously salty. While on the contrary, the salmon carpaccio was oversalted - I was crunching on chunks of it. Two afogados, fruid salad and a crepe nutella for dessert were barely the saving grace - can't really screw them up.
We work hard for our money and are happy to spend it on expensive meals that are worth it. This was not one of those cases. We are dismayed (disgusted, really) at a $460 bill for a 4 person meal that did not even include a bottle of wine. Never again.
Food was excellent. Service was impeccable! It felt like a spot in Rome. It seemed like plenty of locals ate there and we dropped in. We would eat there again.
The food was presented beautifully, the menu is well designed for people with all tastes. I had the mushroom risotto that was perfectly prepared. My dinner partner had the Branzino that was served whole minus the bones and seared on the inside. Delicious. Service was very good from being seated until the last moment. Thank you Bar Italia. We will see you soon
Best Branzino in NYC !
Love this neighborhood gem... and food is consistently good!
Bar Italia for me is the best everyday restaurant in Manhattan, excellent location, the food is outstanding, the service is great.
Excellent food and service, however, can get noisy.
This Madison Avenue Italian bistro is great fun and very stylish not to mention the food and service are exceptional. Nadine, the restaurant manager, is superb
Very good service, they are now in white truffle season
