It was my birthday. I went with my best friend and we had an amazing time. Wonderful waiter and they sang me happy birthday. Complimented my dress made me feel like a million bucks. The food was outstanding and we had yummy cocktails as well. Will go again
Great pre-theater spot that's not in the hustle and bustle of Time Square if you have a little bit of extra time. Food was fantastic as was the staff.
The food is ridiculously overpriced, too rich and only so-so. Wait staff pestered us to leave even thought there were empty tables.
Great Italian restaurant in the mid-60s.... beautiful room and night, attentive service, and very good food
Perfect. Food. Service. Ambiance.
Overpriced and tasteless pasta. Not really worth the price.
Bar Italia is a must , everything is good, food, service, ambiance, bread, all is good. The chef Denis, always is there, that it’s make sure a great food, because he is really good, has a little bar, with very good cocktails, try the Negroni and lychee martini, excellent.
Liver with polenta, Lolo roso salad, endive salad, spaghetti a la bolognese, pizza , everything is really good, try the swordfish too.
We are being going there many times, and never disappointed. All guys from service are excellent.
The table was too small for our party - a four top cannot sit comfortably at a small round table.
Well the meal was good but went it went to the dessert, we have the special dinner and included the dessert went we asked for one in that it was in the dessert list they said that they not have anymore and they only have one, I think that this don’t was nice they can offer us something else, they never asked if we will like to have coffee ,we were very disappointed and don’t think I will be going back
Food is excellent but overpriced even for East Side. Pappardelle and mushrooms at $30 is maybe a little high but that is reasonable. The starters are way overpriced. $24 for caprese that has a just cherry tomatoes cut up is ridiculous. I will go back but stick with entrees. Food is very good quality and well prepared.
Love this place but continue to believe it is overpriced despite the good quality!!
Was there to celebrate a friends birthday and the restaurant is lovely. The food was delicious yet pricier then anticipated, the veal was $49 and the bill had to be corrected for a mischarge, so questioning the price was too uncomfortable to do while taking a friend out. The wait staff were kind and engaging and food was great.
Great specials! Very nice ambiance. Overall a really nice evening with friends from out of town.
We had a great time.
I found Bar Italia to be very overpriced and the service was not good.
Our dinner plates were taken away before we were totally finished and although the waiter apologized, when he promised to bring the dessert menu, he never did. i felt like they were trying to get us out quickly and we left and had dessert elsewhere!
Food was great. Service was impeccable
Food is great. Service is over bearing; refill glasses after every sip, its a continuation of staff at your table sharing their life stories. Probably because slow (Friday???) night. Prices are a little high (appetizers), but food quality was great. We were seated next to front door (restaurant was at 20% capacity all night) and looking at back of hostess the entire time.
Waiter was great
Very disappointed with the food and ambience. There was a large table of 15 people including one baby there on a Saturday night. They were so loud and obnoxious we felt like we were at a TGI Friday’s. They sang happy birthday 3 different times. Couldn’t wait to leave and probably will not return.
Bar Italia is adequate if you are in the area and need some tasty pasta. The wait staff is both cordial and attentive, but the place is cramped and overpriced. You are paying for the real estate.
Very good as always
Excellent experience, highly recommend if you find yourself in the UES and looking for a good spot with healthy options
Food impeccable as always
Bar Italia is my favorite restaurant in New York. The restaurant is welcoming, the food is fantastic, the mood is festive and the service is attentive.
We went for the second time to Bar Italia because we had such a good time the first. Ten or twelve people for a birthday party the first and just the two of us for our anniversary. We were remembered by our waiter and were offered a lovely seat in the back of the restaurant. Our dishes came out the way they were supposed to, hot and flavorful by an attentive wait staff and a concerned management. Shared the red and yellow roasted beet and goat cheese salad, and the pappardelle with mushrooms and the boned dark meat chicken in a wonderfully flavorful tomato sauce. For dessert, we shared Gelato, Come and enjoy!
Hassan is an amazing owner & friend & host and makes everyone feel like family & the food keeps getting better and better.
One of the best restaurants in NYC with amazing food and service!
Top choice for any occasion!
Great service, great food!
We love Bar Italia and have been coming here for years. It is a dining experience.
Lovely setting, nice food prepared and presented nicely, friendly professional wait staff.
Very small noisy upper east side Italian. Food is only ok but with a big price tag and service is unfriendly and average. Better to go to a serafina of which there are many and I’m not even a big fan of that eatery. The food and service are similar but the price is far more consistent with what you get.
The service was, as usual, very impressive & professional. I always feel comfortable coming back here when I'm in the neighborhood knowing I'll have great meal & overall experience.
Always perfect. One of my favorite places to have dinner.
This is a property that NEVER fails to deliver. The salmon and spinach is recommended, but you will be more than pleased with anything on the menu. Huge selection of gluten free pasts.
Had a reservation at 8PM, checked in and they that my table will be ready in a couple of minutes, as they only had onethree top available. However there was a table open in a prime location in the middle of the restaurant that was empty and ready. A party of three showed up and was immediately escorted to the table. I was left there waiting. When I ask the host what was going on he said that I would be seated as soon as the table was ready as he had told me. When I questioned him again he gave me a nonsensical answer. Still don’t understand what happened at the host and hostess piled one lie on top of the other and offer me free drinks for the mistake. Clearly not a mistake. I have been going to buddy Talya for a while and will never go back. Pathetic
Our water glasses were filled with sparkling water which we paid for & 2 different servers refilled our glasses with tap water, then brought new glasses & poured more sparkling never offering to bring us another bottle of sparkling water. Although the service was friendly & attentive, overall level of service felt amateur.
The food is good but not great. The tables are so close together you feel like your part of the conversation at the next table. The noise level is intense, you have to shout to be heard across your table. It was a very exhausting dining experience. The service was indifferent. The place was packed so that must be what everyone likes.
It was alright, but our server never apologized for serving me the wrong drink. My chicken was soooo dry, could hardly eat it!
Always reliable in terms of service, food and atmosphere. We got a special benefit as it was Veterans' Day and not so crowded and correspondingly noisy.
Very white decor. Seemed bright and airy. Impeccable service. But the portions were small. It is highway robbery to charge $30 for a meatless pasta dish. Maybe that’s the Upper East Side and the cost of real estate? Even so the tagliatelle was perfectly cooked.
Highly recommend this restaurant, it’s a notch above the other restaurants in the area.
