Managed under the guidance of Chef Grant Van Gameren, Bar Isabel's menu includes a diverse mix of tapas, cheese, seafood dishes and entrees. Diners rave about the grilled octopus, the cheese platter and the oysters. Treat yourself to some Andalusian cured tuna, with almonds and citrus. For dessert, the Basque cake and sherry cream is a must-try. Bar Isabel is open until midnight Sunday through Thursday, and extends its closing time to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a good pick for late night dining.
As always, yummy food and lovely staff! Always a treat!
Haven’t been back for a couple of years and exactly how I remember it to be. Tight seating, low lighting and filled with energy. The food was good and overall very consistent. For tapas, the portions were quite good. Our server was great.
100% Amazing experience! The wait staff was top notch and the host was amazing. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, but even though it was not worries for us, we were treated to complimentary Champagne. The meal was out of this world and we couldn’t recommend enough!
Wonderful place to dine! Highly recommended!
Octopus is sensational, appetizers just yo make you come back! Desert wonderful!
Incredible service. Food was great especially the grilled Octopus which was the best I ever had. Only complaint was the noise level was a bit high.
This is my favourite place in the city. The food and drinks are wonderful and they have fantastic staff!
It was my first time dining. It was nice but felt we were rushed through our meal.
Amazing service and delicious food. Our server was very knowledgeable, water glasses were always full, and drinks were tended to promptly. We ordered the mixed cheese and meat plate, the shishito peppers, patatas bravas, asparagus, and spot prawns. All delicious. Must return.
My husband and I had dinner for our anniversary. Overall the experience was ok. Some of the dishes we ordered were mediocre and not worth the prices. It was also extremely noisy and at times we could not even hear each other talking across the table. We did have excellent service and would consider going back and trying new dishes
Unusual but interesting interiors, the best customer service that we had received for the whole of our trip to Toronto. Tables nicely spaced apart or you can choose to sit at the bar.
The dishes came out separately and each was excellent. My favourite was the razor clams in a buttery garlic sauce , my partners was the seared bison. Generous portions for tapas. We chose cava which was nice and chilled. The perfect finish was the special cake with warm sherry cream which was absolutely delicious.
Fabulous food and service. A bit too loud, and a bit of complementary bread to soak up all the yummy sauces would be nice.
Awesome restaurant, amazing food, on the loud side.
Parking is virtually non-existent... It can get loud ... but the food and drink is worth it. Really spectacular tapas. Would have gone back the next day. I must visit in Toronto.
Outstanding. It was really really lovely from beginning to end.
Great food selection and cocktail menu! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will be back.
Amazing first time at Bar Isabel! The service and food was incredible. The space is well decorated, I really liked the vibe. Will definitely be back!
Great service. First wine we tried by the glass was not that great. Server immediately addressed the situation. Fantastic experience overall.
Best restaurant in Toronto by far.
Sat at the bar, had a very knowledgeable server, both in the wine list and menu. Great coordination with all of the staff. Would recommend. Lives up to the hype.
We go to Bar Isabel every year for our anniversary and we love it! Great food, great cocktails and amazing service. Love the fois gras, croquettes and of course the basque cake!
Wonderful ambience. Inventive food. Personal and charming.
Truly brilliant - from food to service to memories.
The only thing is that the staff thought it was our anniversary which leads me to believe that there is an issue with the booking software through open table.
This restaurant really is outstanding. It is some of the best food you can eat!
Good food but very limited menu. Pretty pricey for the quality and quantity. Restaurant vibe was dimly lit but energized and upbeat. Lots of packed tables having fun dinners.
Food was absolutely fantastic! We had the bone marrow, sweetbreads, grilled octopus and a special of gooseneck barnacles. I’m a bone marrow fanatic so definitely had high expectations and was not disappointed. It was flavourful, rich and came with toasted slices of home made bread. The grilled octopus was perfectly done - soft and crispy at the same time. Gooseneck barnacles was new to me but I’m so glad we decided to try it! Simply cooked and served with olive oil and a chimichurri-like pesto. We rounded off the whole epic meal with the basque cake paired with a delicious port recommended by the bartender. I could go on and on but bottom line is this...you can’t go wrong ordering pretty much anything on the menu. Some of the items are on the pricier side considering the size but it’s well worth it!
As always, we were very pleased with our evening there. We were lucky to come on a day that barnacles were served! Amazing! Cocktails, octopus, patates, Tempranillo, and basque cake were stunning! Always great service and vibe! Will be back for sure!
Love this place, quality and service are always excellent. No complaints!
Great and delicious food. Very attentive service. Will definitely go back.
Great service, drinks, and exceptional octopus and foie gras
Great service and good food. Bone marrow was delicious as was the shrimp al ajillo. Service was really good and thoughtful.
I’ll go back.
Food was phenomenal and the service was impeccable. An amazing experience all around!
great selection of drinks and ambiance. definitely a place where you'll need to order multiple plates and share to get the full experience.
We came for our anniversary dinner. It was so dark and noisy we had to use our phone flash lights to see the menus (I am 25 for reference and have pretty good eyesight) and text each other what we wanted to order. We ordered some sort of gin cocktail that tasted like celery and pickles - was pretty gross. Our food cake and was severely underwhelming. Four anchovies with some veg that was hardly worth the extravagant price tag. Left before the rest of our food came and went to another restaurant with way better ambiance and food. Go here only if you want a pretentious space and crowd with subpar food.
The bread is on another level, gorgeous fish with fragrant ingredients. Very savory!
Such a great dining experience.... I haven’t been in a while and Notice the attentiveness to service from the host to the wait staff.
Offering to take my coat to explaining the menu suggesting the wine pairing was exceptional. And I also notice the folding on my napkin when I came back to my table ... attention to details is what made my dining experience so enjoyable. It’s these little details is what has been lost in most dining establishments.
Keep this up
Great experiance - one of my favourite restaurants.
Bar Isabel never disappoints! The food is well-prepared and flavourful. The service was outstanding. Not overbearing and made great wine and food recommendations. Signatures dishes were amazing: bone marrow, OCTOPUS, and basque cake. We were celebrating our anniversary (I put a note on my OT reservation) and at least 4 staff members wished us a happy anniversary on our way out. Then right when we were headed out the door, a staff member gifted us with a sour dough loaf for an “anniversary toast!”. Such a kind gesture and very much appreciated. Thank you Bar Isabel!
Fantastic Atmosphere, the dim lighting and energetic vibe are great. Our server was amazing, she was very knowledgable and friendly. We would definitely return. On the food side the dishes are great, they were a little lemony for our tastes but were still great. The foie gras was a standout for me, it simply melts in your mouth and is very delicious.
Awesome - always amazing quality and taste experience
