Bar Dojo Ratings and Reviews
My first time at Bar Dojo and my friend and Iboth were very impressed. Ambiance was lovely; very friendly staff; menu was interesting and allowed for sharing of small plates; food included veggie & meat choices; everything we had was tasty, attractive and interesting. We would definitely return again. Highly recommended!
We hadn't been back here for a while - previously the menu felt stale so there was nothing new to try. Not on this visit! Creative fusion flavors and a lot of variety - we had trouble ordering - but when for comfort food with the pork belly bowl and the 3-course prix fixe with ramen and pumpkin mouse cheesecake. We'll be back.
We were really excited to try this restaurant for Seattle Restaurant week. We went on a Sunday evening. It took 45 minutes to receive our appetizers. We ran out of drinks and water without our waiter noticing. The flavor of the food was awesome but there were mushrooms in my ramen dish when they weren't listed on the menu and giant chunks of pork that were impossible to eat with the chopsticks and small soup spoon. They also cut up small pieces of Thai chili without seeding them so they were like little spice bombs throughout the dish that were so spicy they were inedible.
Dessert was by far our favorite part. I had the banana tempeh with coconut ice cream. It was delicious. My husband had the matcha mint affagato which was really good.
Three stars because overall the flavor was amazing but execution was poor. And service was a little lackluster. But giving them the slight benefit of the doubt there because it was a Sunday night during restaurant week. But wouldn't recommend because you can get way more authentic food that tastes great for a lot less in the Seattle area.
It was a Thursday night - noisy - loud group with 2 young kids, plus groups of women who were just too loud - they forget that not everyone wants to hear their conversation. Food was good - I had the lamb - but one of the ribs was overcooked - the rest was good. Service was slow -We have been customers for long time and we go for the food - which is generally very good. Our waitress did state that the kitchen was a bit overwhelmed. We were there for two hours but a simple dinner. On a slow night - the service and food is excellent -
Food was excellent as usual. What was not was the service. After our order was taken the waiter disappeared, he was nowhere in the room. No checking on beverages or food. We had to ask for assistance since several of had food to be boxed up. I know this is not the norm so I won’t quit visiting but it did not meet the usual experience.
I guess it’s true that you find the best food experiences in strip malls. I would’ve driven by and not even noticed it (and almost did, trying to find it). I thought the food was fantastic, but my company was hoping to see one or two items that were a little more pared down. I loved the pork dumplings and the Dojo Burger. He was less enthused about the pork tacos, too many toppings obscuring the delicious chunks of pork!
We have eaten at Bar Dojo many times and always had an great meal. When we come with friends they always leave impressed with the meal. We’ve used them for catering as well. They cannot be beat.
Great appetizers, great main dishes ranging from their hamburger, to their noodle bowls, their poke bowl and their Kasu black cod.
We have been to Bar Dojo several times and have loved it each time. This time we took our 18 yo for the first time and he loved it too! We arrived 10 or 15 minutes early for our reservation, but the waitress paused only a moment before saying she could seat us. We shared two appetizers: Pork Belly Tacos and Pork Dumplings. Both my son and husband commented that the dumplings are like comfort food, which means that they were very satisfied with them. I would have liked to have had all three tacos for myself because they were delicious! Then we split two entrees: Pork Belly Bowl and Asian Sticky Back Ribs. Anything with pork belly has to be good, right? But the Pork Belly Bowl was out of this world fantastic! My son allowed me only one rib, but it was also delicious!
Excessive breading on the calamari, very greasy ruined another was delightful salad. Curried riblets were primarily bones with a little bit of stringing me attached, very disappointing. The avocado bacon tempura was rich, but the tempura was excessively greasy. A preponderance of greasy food. And the stirfry tofu it was pretty good, however
First time at Bar Dojo. We had a terrific evening. We were greeted by the owner Schubert who was very nice and came over and greeted us once we sat down and told us about the menu and how he started the restaurant. We sat at the bar and had a great evening visiting with bartender Shannon. She helped us choose each entrée and even helped us with cocktails and wine choice. Dessert and even the coffee was magnificent. We had a wonderful evening and can't wait to come back!
