Bar Crudo - Divisadero St Ratings and Reviews
Very spicy food, went for apps together before dinner elsewhere and when the waitress found out we wouldn’t be ordering more than wine and apps she became rude and cold. We spent almost $100 on wine and shared plates, but her attitude was disgruntled none the less. Too bad, customer service should be first.
Service was great, wine list small but interesting (had the 2011 Verdicchio) and well thought, prices on food and wine are great. All the Crudo preparations were outstanding, the Chowder was really good, the crab (under hot plates) was the least favorite of the table, nothing about it was bad, but it's a dish that comes in a pool of sauce but the crab is still in the shell, once you get the hard to get and little meat out of the shell it's so tiny that you can't really dip it in the sauce, maybe another vessel to get the crab into the mouth already out of the shell perhaps, like pasta, bread, rice, potato etc. would be my suggestion. I don't mind cleaning shells and bones out of the fish, but that was really hard to eat. The Branzino was good, although to me it felt as a bit overthought, the sauce underneath was a bit overwhelming for such a delicate flesh fish.
Of course I'm splitting hair, I'm no food critic and the kitchen staff is obviously very talented so good job to all of you. I will be back!
Bar Crudo is a trendy spot in Nopa, a trendy section of San Francisco. As a big fan of seafood, I’m always ready to try a different seafood place. Bar Crudo seafood though is unique. The Crudo platters are somewhat like cerviche, raw fish with various sauces, yet crudo is not at all Cerviche. The tastes are amazing. We had oysters, mussels, and shrimp as well as the crudo platter. Service is professional, efficient and low key. Bar Crudo is not inexpensive but it’s definitely worth the splurge.
Great Happy Hour every night of the week! Amazing that you can take advantage of it both at the bar and at tables throughout the restaurant. The servers were extremely helpful and ensured that that food came out quickly to our large party to allow us to take full advantage of the Happy Hour specials
The crudo sampler and lobster -tomato-buratta salad were outstanding. The roasted crab was a bit disappointing and I found it rather overdone and overwhelmed by its sauce , which was served without bread , which would have been a natural accompaniment. When we did ask a server for bread , she was very accommodating and did immediately give us some chewy French bread.
Service was great until our waiter found out that we were just grabbing a quick snack before our dinner reservations elsewhere. Then we felt like we were being rushed through our meal. We were not asked if we wanted another drink. Other waiters were quickly taking away our plates but never asked if we wanted another drink.
We didn't have one bad thing, everything from starters, shared plates to salads were fantastic! The oyster selection is awesome and the mussels are a must try! The crudo sampler for 3 was just what we needed for our group (originally 4 but someone's flight was delayed) but the ultimate indulgence was the San Sebastian salad, my mouth is still watering thinking about it!! Fun spot with a lively crowd but still a warm/comfortable feel to it.
Food was delicious but super messy. The reservation didn't help us, we were early and then proceeded to have to wait for 10 minutes after the reservation time to even be seated. We were directed originally to a standing table to order drinks/wait, but there was nobody to flag down to get anything if we'd wanted it while we waited. To talk comfortably we had to lean over the table it was so loud. They accommodated our sharing everything super well.
