Bar Cento Ratings and Reviews
From the time I walked through the door everyone was so attentive and friendly. I was seated and my party as well as they entered very professional staff. We had to wait for nothing .They were very kind prompt and we were pleased with everything.
Thank you bar Centro for making an evening a memorable evening with family & friends.
The pizza tasted fantastic even though it was barely warm when it arrived. The service was horrendous-took forever for the server to visit, took 1.5 hours to receive the food and when it arrived it was not warm, they were out of the the first 5 Beers we tried to order and one of the appetizers we ordered arrived after we had already paid the bill, even though the server said he would check on it much earlier. It was disappointing overall.
Please never go on a Saturday night to Bar Centro and sit across from where the food comes out. We ordered pizza and a side of Brussels sprouts. While we were waiting I watched the chef and his helpers and could not belief that they touch all the food, then their dirty rag, then their ear stretchers, over and over again. We sat 2 feet from the counter and they managed to deliver both of our dishes basically cold. We have had great meals there but last night was clearly a low point for this place.
The food is great. The Sunnyside pizza is a favorite! Crispy thin crust, provolone, pancetta, farm fresh eggs & course cracked black pepper. So, so good. This is a go to staple. You can always count on the food being delicious & the service being good. It honestly doesn't matter if I go in for happy hour, dinner with friends or grabbing a pizza late night on my way home. Well done as always Bar Cento.
Love this place!!! The food is always fantastic!!! The service is even better!! It was loud because it was NYE and there was a big party behind us. Other than that, it was normal for a busy place like that. I had the pork and veal Bolognese and my boyfriend had the steak, both were excellent!!!
Excellent as always! We have had dinner at Bar Cento several times, and we have never been disappointed. Salads and pizzas are creative and very tasty. The food is always interesting, never dull and boring. Wine list for by-the-glass ordering is excellent. Coffee is rich and very good. Service is consistently outstanding. Bar Cento seems to be open when other interesting places in the area are closed - much appreciated! We will be back, probably many times!
Our service was dreadful. The host seated 3 tables of 4 people or more in front of us when we had reservations. He clearly forgot about us until I mentioned we had been waiting. Once served food, 2 of 4 guests got their main entre and had to ask the server 15 minutes later for the other 2 patrons food. Overall, I had to ask for service multiple times, between being seated and asking for dinner service and drinks. Pretty unacceptable experience overall. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
A place that could be so much more. It's too bad the food is WAY too salty, because the menu is good, and the dishes are well composed. The music is much too loud and distracts from dinner conversation unless the diners are all loud people anyway. They have an awesome selection of Belgian beers on draft. Overall, it's a nice space in a fun area that's worth a try if you've not been; just consider yourself forewarned.
I had the Caesar salad with chicken. The dressing was a bit heavy and too peppery. My husband had the pasta bolognese and he liked the sauce but the pasta was over cooked.
He ordered the polenta as a side dish and that was excellent.
We shared a Tiramasu which was delicious. They didn't have cappuccino which was disappointing.
Reservation still had a cold 20 min wait. Food 45 min wait. Both burgers rare and asked for Well done. 8 very small ravioli $21 came with a side of burnt leaves of Brussels sprouts. Told there was "kitchen" problems. Service was non existent. Noisy next - seated us next to a pool table. Thought we could have a nice dinner. Wrong. This place is for bar food and drinks.
We had a reservation for 5 at 7:00. I was disappointed that not only was our table not ready but they didn't know when they would be able to seat us. When I said, "but we have a reservation", the hostess said "I know, other people do too."
We found a table in the bar and simply claimed it. Another hostess came over and said she didn't know when our table would be ready but if we were will to add a chair to the end we could have that table.
The food took a long time to come out but it was a busy Saturday night so that's understandable. The french fries came out ice cold (they were likely ready 15-20 min before delivered) and the burger I ordered Med Well came out completely red in the middle. I've been here a number of times and always enjoyed it but I will never come back on a weekend night. I don't think they're kitchen is prepared to handle busy nights.
This was my second trip to Bar Cento and so disappointing after a great first trip. We were a party of 8 and service overall was very poor. Drinks orders were very slow to be taken and to be served. Biggest issue was our food. Dinners came out two at a time and it took 10-15 minutes for everyone in the group to receive their entree. Everyone's food tasted good however several people commented that their food was luke warm, even the last two meals served. I love the ambience, taste of the food, and alcohol selection at Bar Cento but would greatly hesitate to take a group there again.
Food was very good. Server was inattentive, though. Wine glass was dirty (had lipstick on it). Drinks weren't refreshed.
Made reservations and it seemed as though they weren't prepared for us. We were sat by the door--zero ambiance. Thought it would be much more intimate.
We went here for an anniversary dinner after a show. Great choice: we enjoyed the draft beer selection. My wife got the salmon, I got the bricked chicken. Wholesome and surprising flavors. The plank plates are cute, but I had to chase some loose risotto because of no edge to the platter. Altogether a great time.
Our drinks and appetizer arrived promptly, which we were pleased with! However, our entrees (burger and pizza) took 1.5 hours after ordering to arrive at our table. Our waitress repeatedly mentioned that there were many tickets ahead of us, although the restaurant itself did not seem extremely crowded for a Saturday night. Overall, our food came out over done after waiting for so long. The restaurant has high reviews but was not what we expected for the prices.
We ordered four pizzas, the pomme frites, and the rainbow trout, along with drinks. Everything was great except the fish. My boyfriend's mother couldn't eat it, she thought it was that bad. However, we always go for the pizza and happy hour and have never had anything less than great. I guess that one dish just wasn't par for the course.
We were disappointed when we were charged $17.00 for a manhatten cocktail. Too expensive for a corner dive bar where every cushion on every bar stool is torn. We'll rethink going there next time. Too much competition that are newer and nicer and have water front view that don't charge that much for cocktails.
We celebrated my mother's 84th birthday at Bar Cento last Saturday evening. The ambience and the décor was top notch. The wait service was friendly and accommodating. This set our expectations high for the food. Having looked over the menu prior to the visit, I chose the clam pasta dish. The pasta noodles were done well, but the lemon in the dish was over powering. I could not even taste the delicate clams. But, at least I had some. My brother who ordered the same dish, had to search for his. I tasted my mother's ravioli which was, honestly, crunchy. I understand about al dente, but this was under cooked. My husband had the lamb pappardelle which was cold upon delivery and taken back for a warmer version. The sauce was a lackluster tomato based one that disguised the flavor of the lamb. On the other hand, the small side salads were great- complete with heirloom tomatoes. I would recommend having a drink here because of the great décor, or choosing other dishes which might be better.
We very much liked this place; it's a nice space, has good casual food, and an outstanding beer selection thanks to it being adjacent to and related to Bier Markt. At the end of the day, the only question that matters is "would you go back?", and we definitely will.
