While the vegetarian options are limited, the food was very good and definitely a step or two above the burger joints that seem to predominate the Twin Cities' restaurant scene. Service was quite good and the waiter was knowledgeable about both food and wine.
The only down-side to the evening was the noise level. If the place is full--and it was--it can be very hard to hear people across the table from you.
The waitress was attentive, gave great suggestions and was really pleasant. Enjoyed the meal.
I’ve been meaning to try this place since it opened last year and finally had the opportunity. I will be back for sure. The host was great — saw we were on a date and found a cozy spot for us. (In fact, the whole place is cozy). Food was very good and not overpriced. And the cocktails were great. I can think of nothing they could do to improve the place. Highly recommended!
Great experience, let us stay long after lunch closed
The starters were good but the Chicken thighs tasted reheated like leftovers, same goes for the wild Boar. The flourless chocolate cake was nothing special. That said the cocktails were good and it had a cozy atmosphere. I just wished the food was better.
This place was FABULOUS! My wife and I went to the Bar Brigade to celebrate her birthday. The menu choices, wine list, service and ambiance were perfect. We will return!
Food is creative and delicious. As the place filled up, the noise level started to interfere with conversation. It is small but cozy. Nice wine menu and innovative cocktails. Great neighborhood spot.
i asked if the bartender could
make me a cocktail. I wanted sweet, bit sour, fruity and gin. No problem. He designed this aromatic cocktail that was perfect! He named it the Sweet Tart.
This is a true neighborhood gem with terrific food and cozy vibe. It was a little crowded and noisy but felt lively rather than oppressive. Service was friendly if a little slow. I would definitely go back.
Great food & small plates for sharing. I would highly recommend!
Enjoyed the staff, food and the uniqueness of the menu items.
Felt like church pews were quaint but would have like a cushion.
Tables are a bit too close for comfort.
Three visits and counting, I have now sampled the main entree items and enjoyed all. This most recent visit my friend (a foodie) had the lamb special and the one bite offered to me was heavenly delicious. Liza has been my server each time and she's outstanding. Sitting on the bench, which I prefer, would be greatly enhanced if there were a soft cushion to sit on. I'll be back every chance I get - count on it!
Tiny space, wonderful vibe and great energy. Food was first rate and the wine list was as well-curated as any much more prestigious venue and better than most. Will go back.
I love this place! From the wine to the dessert, it was all amazing. The lobster risotto and the wild boar bourguignon was fabulous! We will definitely be back!
Don't get the crab cakes. They were less than stellar with lots of filler. Everything else we ordered was absolutely divine including the lobster risotto, roast potatoes with chevre, lobster bisque, salad and the blitzes for dessert....oh my!!!!!! We will definitely go there, again!
Loved this place even more than I thought I would! Amazing food, fun drinks. Huge fan of the trout. I will be back!
Awesome service, very personable. Great food, perfect portion sizes, appetizer, entree w/side, and dessert left me comfortably full rather than overstuffed.
Generally good experience. Would love some NA options on the cocktail menu. Oysters were not good value. Small and somewhat flavorless. Twin Cities are becoming a more of an oyster town. Take it from this Chesapeake Bay native, they need to step up their oyster game.
Excellent food with a variety of entrée options...fish was cooked perfectly even on a busy night...one improvement would be a couple of extra ounces of wine, since the glass was barely half full...we'll be back!
Really interesting, delicious food. Lovely, attentive, friendly service. Good pricing.
The service was amazing! We started with cocktails, and moved to a bottle of wine with our entrees. I had the lamb chops which were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be coming back!
Love BarBrigade and am so happy to have such a fantastic restaurant in my neighborhood!
The cocktails were original and amazing. I had some delicious quail and my husband had a lobster risotto. We will definitely be back.
Outstanding food and gracious service. My only quibble is that the dining room is tiny and cramped, with tables a little too close together. But that won't keep me from coming back.
A great place for four friends to have a delicious meal with great service. It is a little bit small, so I would not recommend for large groups. I also really appreciated that our table was ready immediately, which should be a given but isn't always even with a reservation. We all really enjoyed our meals, I believe the menu changes weekly so I'm not making specific recommendations
Sally is an outstanding waiter and conveyor of hospitality. The food was definitely fit for foodies and good portions. The oysters tonight were among the tastiest we have had in a year. The mussels and broth were excellent.. and it just went on with even the sense of humor with the drawing of la Vache, Jean Claude. What a find. We will be back. The wine pairing suggestions worked well too. C’est Magnifique!
Excellent neighborhood restaurant. The menu is not extensive but the food was terrific. We tried trout, boar and risotto. All were uniquely different and good though the general consensus was the risotto stand out. The service was prompt, the server decisive when asked about the menu which I like. Its cosy, a little noisy with a lively atmosphere. Next time I'd like to sit at the bar for a drink and appetizers. We had made reservations and got seated right by the door to the rest room and they couldn't seat elsewhere as it was full. That's the only negative.
This was a wonderful dining experience. They had a rotating menu and crafted cocktails that were very well made, portions were the appropriate size, and wonderfully made. Would totally come back here again
Maggie and i had a friend catch-up dinner and it was perfect! So friendly and food is fresh and local and french. I had grilled quail! The chocolate flourless cake with cherries is to die for!
Good to very good food, great service, but painfully noisy! Would hesitate to go back for that reason. We looked up, saw open rafters and wondered why the owners wouldn't put some sound-absorbing material up there?
My dad and I really enjoyed brunch at Bar Brigade. He had the omelet of the day, which included gruyere cheese, spinach, and mushrooms. He loved it! I had French toast, which was delightfully crunchy and sweet. Our server was gracious and helpful. This was our first visit to Bar Brigade. We will definitely go again.
Phenomenal! Everything we tried was delicious. Lovely ambiance. Solid wine list. Fantastic waitress. Couldn’t ask for a better meal.
Disappointed! Despite having a reservation, I was given the worst table -- next to a water station with views of the kitchen which had very bright lights. But I asked to be moved and we ended up sitting at the bar. That was lovely and a lot quieter than in the DR. I'm not sure if I would return unless I sat at the bar again. Food was very good, service pretty good. But the DR was soooo noisy! And usually with a reservation, you get a pretty good table -- not the worst one in the room.
Lovely atmosphere and excellent service. And the food was wonderful. We’ll come back here again and again.
I live inBig Lake so it is a drive for me to come to this place, but I love it! I wish there was a restaurant like this closer to me. You get an amazing work of art for a meal for a great price. The food is made and served with excellence.
Every menu item we tasted was very flavorful and yummy. The staff were friendly attentive. Great cocktails and wine too! The restaurant is small and intimate, providing a cozy experience.
Food was fantastic - had the squash puff pastry, brocolli lentil salad and a wonderful creamy desert with brewed decalf. Also had house special wine. Would definitely recommend.
Introducing my sweetheart to the folks!
Great food, but our waitress had ZERO timing. Had to ask to order our entrees, had to wave her down several times to try and get additional drinks ordered, didn’t come back to take drink orders until AFTER we had finished our meal... just had no sense of urgency or time.
We were not seated until 35 minutes after our reservation time. Staff served us free wine while we waited.
