What Insiders Are Saying
Daniel Boulud's "casual bistro" Bar Boulud is one of the best places to eat near Lincoln Square.
Bar Boulud continues to excel at meeting expectations. Honestly, there is no reason to write much more than GO! There is little to criticize. It is a little pricey so beware that you could end up spending more than you think you might, especially if like me, you LOVE artisanally crafted Charcuterie! Restaurant Week is a great bargain though... Food, service, cocktails and wine are always excellent. Leadership on the floor is always friendly and accommodating. These are some of the reason we keep coming back.
Much too noisy that night boisterous group celebrating graduation.
amazing food! great spot and always a pleasure! I loved it
Superb. I had the boudin blanc which was delicious. My wife had the prix fixe with the pasta. She loved it. Top notch wait staff. You can’t go wrong with Bar Boulud.
Bar Boulud has a great location with nice outdoor patio. The location is great for a sunny Sunday brunch. The food and beverages are very pricey for scrambled eggs and ok quiche, service was disorganized and slow.
This was a sad experience. Daniel Boulud should be embarrassed to have his name attached to this operation. The place was filthy, and looked no better than a diner on some highway rest stop.
The food was really non edible, and the service was pathetic. Even the bread was so old one would think it was toasted. Stay away.
Three moms, all with screaming babies should not be allowed to disrupt diners for two hours. Worried about their feelings? What about the rest of your customers?
Everything was incredible, and we got to drink from a giant bottle of rosé. Will definitely dine here again.
Excellent service and good food served in an attractive setting right across Lincoln Center. I particularly enjoy the vegetables. Outside of peak dining times the noise level is comfortably low. Again, the wait staff is very good: attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable, friendly.
Excellent as always. Thanks for the birthday cake and greetings for my cousin!!!
Beyond the food and the service, the friendliness of the staff is what keeps me coming back
Everyone to whomI introduce BB is impressed and grateful
Bar Boulud is a classic that is always worth returning to. The charcuterie is outstanding, and they add enough new dishes to keep the menu interesting. Great service, and a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere.
Nice French food across from Lincoln Center. We were pleasantly surprised that that out door seating area was available the evening we were dining, so took advantage of it. That's the best part of this restaurant.
Always satisfied all around
I’ve been to this restaurant in many occasions and it is always a delicious and pleasant experience. The food is superbly cooked and the staff is super friendly. I’d go every day !
I have been to everyone of Daniel's restaurants - many times and, my husband and I have both known him on a professional level for many years. I honestly don't feel as if I'm reviewing one of his restaurants as I write this. It is quite the departure from the other venues we have frequented and come to expect and receive stellar service and food. With that said, it is clear that I'm reviewing a much more casual and toned down restaurant than his others. The space screams"tourist" as the standards are so different from what we expect with the name Boulud. The service is rough and, save the arrival to our table by a new hire - a sommelier who just joined their team - we could easily have felt like we were in a street level restaurant in Times Square or 34th St. The prix-fixe menu failed to include a vegetarian entree option and my chicken with morels included one morel mushroom, thinly sliced. It was a disappointment albeit the chicken was cooked perfectly. The straw for us was the woman who cleared our first course and proceeded to remove everything else from the table. When I asked her to please leave the bread/bread plates for our entree (my husband was still having a cheese course next) she scowled. That broke it for us. We will return to each of Daniel's other restaurants with pleasure but unless you want a restaurant near Lincoln Center simply for convenience, remember that you're choosing any one of the spaces on Broadway but not necessarily a Daniel restaurant to deliver what you might expect.
This is a top notice French restaurant. I went for the mother’s Day prefix meal and enjoyed every course! I would definitely suggest this place to a friend.
great classic French meals
with some nouvelle plates
Stefan the manager is the ultimate consummate professional and host. He rights all the wrongs and makes the day!
Expensive, unremarkable, country club cuisine. Inattentive waitstaff, constantly needed to ask to have our glasses refilled. Quality not nearly on par with price.
A charming bistro-like restaurant with a carefully chosen menu, located right across from Lincoln Center. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is friendly and efficient. A great place to go before or after theater, opera, ballet, or concert, or simply sight-seeing.
I ate at bar Boulud on mothers day The food was excellent the hah browns were the most satisfying and the pork and cheddar sausage was superb. The service was excellent My server was attentive helpful and charming . the hostess made me feel at home.
This is the 3rd time for me & the family at Bar Boulud. As always, the food & service are impeccable! Bar Boulud is perfect for special occasions such as Mother’s Day!
Very good food, simple but very testy. Definitely a good adresse
I went to Bar Boulud for charcuterie, the food was outstanding , I was hesitant about blood sausage but it was exquisite . The Sommelier chose wines to go with each dish he wines were better than any I had ever had and improved each dish . A few years ago I saw Daniel Boulud talking to Anthony Bourdain about this restaurant, I swore then that I would eat there and the experience lived up to my desires . The Hostess the waiter and the sommelier added to my pleasure
Red wine was cold, was not ready to drink despite relatively high price;so cold generic sparkling water had no sparks (if we pay for it why substitute Badoit or Perrier with tap water?) As a regulars there,we were not happy. And this is a Bar,Bar Boulud $$$$ place. So think before you go.
Always reliable with food and wine of the highest quality. The space is a bit dark and not inspiring, however.
Relaxing all around with delicious, simply prepared food, attentive always a pleasure !
We are aficionados, always great food, well prepared and well presented. And always great service all the staff are very nice and efficient. Wonderfully pleasant!
Super disappointed - quality of food just wasn't there. Flavor was missing, anything special about the food was missing, but the prices are sky high. Had been really looking forward to this place given its well known in NYC, but it wasn't good and I wouldn't go back.
Food was on point perfect. Staff was so attentive and accommodating.
Highly recommend for pre Lincoln Center dinner. Fabulous menu and convenient location!
Terrific dinner, wine and service on outdoor patio pre-opera. Great food. Good value.
Exceptional service. Exceptional cuisine.
Bar Boulud is a great place to have a pre-theatre meal (especially if you're attending a production at Lincoln Center). Food was very good with attentive service.
The menu selection was great, as was the fine list. There was no rush even though we where there before an opera and the place was packed. Very attentive staff. The best of all was the food.
We have been to Bar Boulud many times. It's a very convenient place to have dinner if one is attending a concert or opera at Lincoln Center. On this occasion, after the excellent gougeres for the table, both of us had the special for that night. Mine was a the tenderloin, which was served at just the right degree of doneness. The frites were, as always, crisp and delicious. My spouse enjoyed his soup and his pasta. He had the rhubarb pie, which he found a bit disappointing and a small serving.
This was the most delicious meal of our 5 day trip. Loved our duck confit, house sausage, wine and champagne punch. The marjolaine(? the chocolate hazelnut one) was heavenly. Service was efficient.
Steal was over cooked but they made it again and it was better
We very much enjoyed our dinner at Bar Boulud. The charcuterie board was outstanding, and the main courses (scallops, duck confit, boudin and cod) were all very well prepared. The wine list is good, but tending to the pricier side. Service was excellent.
