It is a restaurant I go to often. The food, service and atmosphere are first rate and i am never disappointed.
Women appearing on their own were seated at small two-tops in the back of the restaurant but women who came in with a man were seated in booths.
Food is wonderful and service is great. if you want to have a memorable dinner i suggest you order CHICKEN LIVER MOUSSE TERRINE (amazing), ATLANTIC COD BASQUAISE (delicious) and COUPE “PRINCESSE” (incredible)
Consistently outstanding in every respect, from its exquisite food & beverages to the impeccable service and gracious ambiance each and every time we visit.
They were first able to seat us earlier than our reservation, which was lovely and helpful. The service overall was incredible, attentive & pleasant. And the food was out of this world. Our table split a charcuterie plate which was delicious. My husband and I each had specials from their basque inspired menu which were each to die for- so good you want to eat it extra slow to drag out the flavor experience. The couple with us got menu staples and the frenchie burger blew our friends mind. And both us and the couple we were with split the chocolate tart for dessert which was also amazing. I am with child and could not enjoy the wine list- so we will be going back to try some of their pairing recommendations- but those drinking did say their drinks were also great. I am excited for the next time we go to the opera to eat here again!
We had an after matinee dinner on Saturday and were delighted with our dinner and the excellent and careful service we received. We all ate something containing asparagus which was plentiful and tender and delicious. The scallops were perfectly prepared, a guest who ordered risotto said it was perfect, as was the lamb navarin and the steak frites and mussels as well as rhubarb tart and vanilla ice cream. A wonderful dinner and excellent service - what more could you ask?
Very excited to eat here, very disappointed before the check arrived. Tarte flambe was underwhelming, escargot was meaty but unimpressive. The duck breast was medium rare as requested, but they failed to render the fat which made it difficult to cut with the butter knife on hand and I couldn't enjoy a crispy skin. The mussels were simple and bland with practically no broth. General table service (water, bussing) was good, but we only saw our server twice; to place the order, and ask for the check. I've eaten at several of the restaurants in the Lincoln center area, and at this point I have to believe the guarantee of clientele has reduced the quality of food considerably. For my money, there are far better (french) restaurants within easy walking distance. Don't be persuaded by the fact that Boulud owns a street corner, he certainly didn't get this far on the quality they're serving up these days.
10 years (at least) and still going strong. Glad to see trout amandine back on the menu.
Amazing meal. Great service. Wonderful location!
Bar Boulud is a place to go for everyday dinig and have very good food.
I had a horrible lunch.
The croque madame was not edible.
It was dry, hard and felt like it was days old. The egg was over cooked and neither the sandwhich nor egg was warm.
When it was taken away (with only a few bites taken) the waitstaff did not question why it was barely touched.
I was incredibly disappointed.
I paid for lunch for 3 and it was over $100.
the restaurant has been going downhill and has become a disappointment. It used to be a favorite. the Menu has become extremely limited and very narrow. BB seems to have done away with interesting fish dishes. Salmon is gone. You never see swordfish, snapper, tuna or branzino. Simple salads have disappeared. it's unusual to see an interesting special that would at least give a customer an opportunity to have some variety. The quality of the food has become very average. Service is rushed and impersonal. No concern is shown for clients, even for clients who come frequently for Lincoln Centre events. What used to a superior restaurant has slipped to become mediocre and is coasting on its Lincoln Center location and not qualilty of food or good service.
Had high expectations for this spot. However, I left dissatisfied. The cod was undersalted and I believe the sweetness of the pepper stew that was on the bottom of the cod did not work with the dish.
The duck confit was tender and good, but not great. Service felt rushed especially after we ordered our entrees. Waitress seemed to forget to ask us about entrees, we had to wait a long time to finally inform her that we wanted to eat more.
Bar Boulud is one of my favorite restaurants in NY. When I am going to the opera or ballet, it’s my first choice for dinner. I’ve loved all of the entrees I’ve ordered over the years. I had the lamb navarin the other day. I would have liked a little more lamb in the serving. But for the price points in the prix dice menu it was fine.
Fantastic. Very chic place to get a casual bite to eat.
This is a dependable spot for weekend brunch. With a reservation I do not have to wait. I would say our waitress was not the friendliest, but it did not detract from the experience.
Great place, great food, wonderful crew, We have dinner every Saturday and never were disappointed. Our food is always so fresh and crew so welcome that we always looking to see them again. Last Saturday was my Birthday and Bar Boulud stood up in 100%. Highly recommend!
Very delicious - very French (lots of butter). We enjoyed the mussels and the scallops.
The restaurant was very busy and the service was spotty. We were surprised.
Overall great go to with friends, family or date
Bar Boulud is our "after opera" favorite. It is a lovely, lively place with a constantly happy buzz. You absolutely can't go wrong with their tasting board --the duck and fig pate is worth walking miles for! The wine list is very good and the wait staff suggestions are always good ones. Overall, a lovely way to end an evening.
Wonderful Pate, French country cooking. Bustling,
Excellent pre/post Lin oln Center.
So good! Loved every bite and sip.
Excellent food. Professional service. Reasonably priced.
Perfect for a meal before the theatre.
Always tremendously enjoy dining at Bar Boulud !!
The nice welcoming team - the wonderful food - the warm ambiance and attentive service ..
Always a joy to go back —- whether for lunch or dinner !! It always feels like a celebration !!!
Merci Bar Boulud !!! AW
Terrific prix fixe for lunch! The fish option is always delectable. The mushroom soup and chicken liver terrine are excellent appetizer options. Request additional toasts for the terrine. Dessert isn't worth the additional $7.
No changing table, FYI. We make do on the hand towel table in the accessible restroom on the main floor.
I come to NY 4 times a year and every time, I come to Bar Boulud. I even try not to go! With all the fabulous restaurants in NY, Bar Boulud is my favorite. I stopped in with my daughter and between the two of us we had an Old Fashioned, that was made just right, pasta with peas, steak frites, green and white asparagus and a chocolate dessert my daughter actually shut her eyes to savor. Our waitress was new and delightful and she did not hesitate to seek help if she did not know the answer to one of our questions. Yes, I will be back again!
this time the food was very disappointing. Usually I enjoy my meals at Bar Boulud. this time not so much. The cod dish was very fishy tasting. I know it was a fish dish but "fishy" is not a good thing.
We are aficionados so my judgment might be biased. We always have a good time at BB, whether it's for casual dining or a full meal. Highly recommended.
My comment is it is the best place to eat around Lncoln Center.
Servers were very inattentive. Our waitress abandoned us in the midst of a shift change.
Delicious food, very sweet waitress.
Always a good choice for a little festive dinner before or after a performance at Lincoln Center across the street
Food was ok. Expected it to be better, but maybe the Easter brunch menu wasn’t that great. Pastries were excellent.
Almost perfect spot for a very good pre-theater dinner. Food was impeccably prepared and timely served. The "Frenchie Burger" was a too rare medium rare and the fries that came with it were a bit soft but the trout and the duck breast were outstanding for their quality, taste and preparation.
Bar Boulud is our go-to place for an early lunch before attending a Metropolitan Opera matinee at Lincoln Center. The service is usually excellent and we are able to not have to rush through our meal after our train ride from Philly. The food is well prepared and presented. We recommend Bar Boulud.
Excellent menu. Food was delicious and beautifully plated. Excellent wine list, short, but highly rated choices. Great convenience being directly across the street from Lincoln Center.
