A thoroughly delicious meal in very pleasant surroundings. Our previous meal at Bar Boulud was under the aegis of the late night menu, which is rather limited and disappointing. (A terrible hamburger, drowning in its own excess.) The regular menu is another story. The pâtés were superb, and both the coq au vin and the cassoulet were delicious. We're definitely returning--but not after 11:00 PM.

Best decision for pre Ballet dining! The location is right across the street from the subway station and David H Koch Theatre so it's perfect. The food and drink was divine; Escargot was perfect, including the texture, I ordered the Duck a L'Orange to be prepared well done, and the "well done-ness" was en pointe. I wanted a good stiff drink and found perfection with the Vieux Carre which consists of Cognac, Rye Whisky and Sweet Vermouth. My friend and I visited NYC to pre celebrate our 40th Bdays and the meal at Bar Boulud followed by the Ballet was one of our special evenings. I told the staff this when I called to check on our reservation and were surprised with a complimentary dessert each, with a candle and a Happy Birthday wish! Outstanding food, service and atmosphere. Well done to all, and a giant Thank You for an evening to cherish!

The Restaurant Week menu was imaginative and top-notch. Genuinely French and a good value.
However, the noise was so overwhelming that my husband refuses to go back again for dinner.
Maybe midday is quieter than Friday night after 8? We can't recommend to friends because most of our friends like to be able to talk to each other (not scream at each other).

Soup/salad was excellent;however, the main course and dessert were underwhelming.
Service by waitress seemed more abrupt than welcoming. They kept on pushing wine not on the wine list that they slyly did not mention the price was $25 glass...at least a third more than the highest price wine by the glass on the menu. This seemed deceptive. Buyer beware

The food and service were excellent! Even though we were "fine dining" in a sense (during restaurant week), the portions were sizeable! I'm vegetarian and my companion is gluten-free and the restaurant accommodated all our needs.

This restaurant is not the expensive fine dining experience you might expect from the name Boulud. It fits the niche for simple bistrot food at a more approachable price. We were four for dinner on restaurant week and had a reasonably acceptable meal. The place is crowded with booths and tables very close together. It is also loud. The least expensive red wine on the list was good at $45. We were very disappointed with the food. The salad was way overdressed and the fish entre, though not bad, was less than pristine. We did not like the deserts we had (a lemon curd with a rock hard meringue, and chocolate cake that was not a cake at all. The restaurant 3 course menu cost $42 per person.

We LOVE Bar Boulud. We have season tickets to the Opera, and always eat at Bar Boulud beforehand. The food is delicious, staff very friendly and the serve you quickly so we never feel rushed or late to the Opera. It is a perfect and relaxing dinner. We will never go anywhere else, and always recommend it to friends going to Lincoln Center

Bar Boulud is our go-to spot for pre-opera dinners. Monday night was an extremely early curtain (6pm!!) so we opted for the seasonal Savoie specials. I had a raclette and my companion a boudin blanc. Both were perfectly prepared, quickly served, delicious and priced just right for an early dinner. The suggested Sancerre, available by the glass, was just the right accompaniment.

Bar Boulud never disappoints. I only wish I'd taken photos but our time limitations precluded that.

Restaurant week menu advertised mussels came with frites. When they did not the server said that was a mistake and frites were xtra. Unacceptable answer for any reputable restaurant. Also 5 oz pours for $18 dollar glass of wine! We felt cheated.

This restaurant was OK, nothing to rave about. Went for lunch during restaurant week, I had a chicken salad, which was a bit overcooked, and rather small portion. Everything about their restaurant is ordinary; from the decor to the food, nothing to rave about here. I wouldn’t go back.

We were a party of 4 during restaurant week--it was very crowded, very noisy.
Only one of us ordered from the special menu; the others each ordered less than a 3 course meal. Service was spotty, maybe related to that.
All the food was very good as usual and you can't beat the location for convenience to Lincoln Center.

This is clearly not what i expected from a Boulud restaurant it's so under café boulud or Boulud sud I was a massive disappointment
first the risotto I still can't understand how they called it a risotto is was liquid and flavorless I could'nt eat it
Service was good and really polite at the exception of the manager who tried to make me feel bad about the poor risotoo telling me that I change my mind about the dish ... No I didn't it just wasn't a risotto and so I couldn't eat it
Nonetheless they change the risotto for a Loup de mer (fish) well cooked and so much better nothing oustanding but at least well prepared
then came the cheese platter and oh my gosh how is it possible to serve that as cheese a tiny crust of french cheese and a slice of bad american cheese so acidic that my tongue needed a few minutes to recover
Overall I can only conclude by skip it and go to any other Boulud
