Delicious - I enjoyed the scallops! Also the chocolate fondant was decadent. The ambiance was great and service impeccable. It's a bit pricey, but it is New York, after all!

We had a wonderful dinner prior to the opera. Food was creative and very tasty, staff knowledgeable and helpful, and decor welcoming.

We go to Bar Boulud pre opera which is often and it never disappoints! Service is prompt but never rushed , and the staff is mindful of our need to make the curtain. Love the food! The trout was amazing!!

Bar Boulud came highly recommended from a good friend and did not disappoint. The restaurant is beautiful, the ambiance lovely, service is great and the food is outstanding. We tried the prosciutto charcuterie, 3 cheese plate, coq au vin, and Frenchie burger and all were outstanding. Our server made very good recommendations and wasn't in the way too much. We would definitely visit again the next time we are in the city.

This is the perfect spot to meet a friend for lunch - lively but quiet enough to speak, good food, great service and lots of choices. Our favorite for pre or post Lincoln Center as well.

I have eaten at Daniel several times but would actually choose this restaurant. The food was outstanding and service equally good. It is pretty tight quarters, but the noise level is fine. I highly recommend.

Yumm! We enjoyed Bar Boloud very much! I had 2 delicious appetizers - a Pate' foie gras and pear mixture and a large salad with lardons and poached egg. It was awesome. My husband thoroughly enjoyed a boned and grilled trout. Our server was very attentive- but not overly so. And the wine list was excellent as well. Can't wait to return.

Our first time at Bar Boulud, and we will be returning often.
Welcoming and warm staff, great food and excellent brunch
and lunch value. An added benefit--just across Broadway from
Lincoln Center.

Still a go-to place. The steak-frites bevette is tender and tasty, and we actually prefer it to the NY strip. The coq au vin never fails to remind us what "French bistro" means. The Niçoise with seared tuna and tuna confit is unusually good if you're up for something light. The kitchen does small desserts well. The basket of Madelines or the plate of petits fours are a light way to end a meal, and they're done superbly.

I made a reservation two weeks ahead of time for lunch. Got there 5 minutes early. But the three women up front seating people were terribly organized and contradicted each other about seating policy?!...they didn't have a seat for myself and friend...when I inquired about 3 double tables right next to the sign in - they said those were for 'larger party' but in less than a minute another women seating people gave the table I asked for to two other women who had already been seated but wanted a better place....SO at that point I insisted they give me one of those tables. These ' seating ladies' were really unprofessional and not very solicitous. Made for a very rocky start to lunch....made me grumpy to be treated badly. Next time I won't make a reservation...seems like people who hadn't we're offered seats more readily.

We rolled into NYC from Penn Station. We were looking for something special, but not too fancy. Bar Boulud fit the bill perfectly. Great food and service. My only complaint is that the tables have a strange platform configuration that makes it hard to move your feet around.

Strongly recommend especially on a warm night.

Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience at Bar Boulud. We’re big fans of D. Boulud, having enjoyed many great meals at Boulud Sud, one of our favorite places.
On Saturday we had a 2:00 matinee at Lincoln Center so we went to Bar Boulud for lunch. We were seated promptly at 12:30. We told our server that we needed to leave no later than 1:40 in order to make our show. She said she’d get us fed and out in time and noted that many patrons were in a similar situation.
We ordered a simple meal of one coffee, a shared flatbread, and an omelet and ham sandwich. The flatbread was a bit slow in arriving, but not too badly so. It was very good, as was the coffee. But, then, things fell apart. We repeatedly asked where our omelet and sandwich and reminded her of the 1:40 deadline to leave. She repeatedly assured us that the food would arrive momentarily. It never did.
She explained that the kitchen was backed up. The place was crowed and busy, but not overly so. This was especially frustrating since tables all around us that been seated well after us were served quickly and efficiently. Meanwhile, we waited and waited. Finally, at 1:35, we told her we’d be leaving in five minutes – food or no food. That seemed to finally get her attention.
At 1:40, we got up and left the table. As we did our omelet and sandwich finally arrived (and looked good, BTW). But it was simply too late. I left $21 in cash for the flatbread and coffee (no tip, needless to say).
On the way out, we ran into the manager and complained about the lack of service. He was very upset, embarrassed, contrite and responsive. He offered to return our money and to make the situation right. He handled it very well, but we didn’t have time – we needed to rush to make our show.
Not what we expect from a Boulud property, obviously.

HI- The Baked Alaska dessert was disappointing. Although tasty, it was small, and so did not provide the drama one expects from that such a dessert. And way overpriced.
