Went for dinner prior to a performance at Lincoln Center and it was perfect. Loved the menu, and the service was exceptional.
Great food and service. I would highly recommend for an authentic French meal. Very nice atmosphere too!
Disappointing Coq Au Vin. 🍗🍷
Pre-opera meal - atmosphere was buzzing but for a night out on the town this was appropriate. Potions were great for a French restaurant. Great value and attentive service.
The staff works together to provide friendly efficient service.
On our last visit, the manager remembered us and offered to move us when our preferred seating became available. We felt like we were treated like family. Brunch especially is excellent for quality and value.
A truly wonderful dining experience. The service was phenomenal from the moment we entered the restaurant, and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back!
Our go to place for birthdays. Food is delicious. Ambience is lively but not insanely loud. And it is nice but not overly formal. My duck was perfect.
We had a friends get-together at this awesome French restaurant, and we all loved the ambiance, food, and service there.
My food was perfectly prepared and the display was wonderful. High quality and great service.
Perfect place to eat before a Lincoln Center event.
The brunch food was heavier and more bland than I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber.
Great food and lovely setting. The booth seating is very comfortable.
We had a fantastic meal from the prix fixe menu (which changes frequently). The kitchen has always been good, but has been fantastic lately. We started with a beautiful and absolutely delicious endive salad--with blood orange, other citrus fruit, just terrific. Next we had a lamb navarin, a stew. So tasty, so beautifully proportioned mix among the lamb, the vegetables, and the potatoes. A wonderful dish. We finished with a pineapple tatin--just scrumptious. Fantastic value for the price. Again, it's a warm, comfortable ambience and I've always appreciated the wine list which is long on interesting wines, especially from the south of France.
I love this restaurant. The food has always been good, but lately, the food has been just sensational. I had a cream of mushroom soup--delicious, the skate wing, which was so elegantly presented in a thunderbird-like shape, and a lovely cheeseplate for dessert. What sets the recent cooking apart is the interesting seasons--just a little of this or that to make it just a bit more unusual and delicious. I also love the wine-by-the-glass list--always interesting and unusual, and it changes frequently enough. One more reason why I love the restaurant: I came on a whim after a concert at Carnegie Hall. The restaurant hits just the right balance of seriousness and informality--that sweet spot where you feel most at home. Before heading home from a great concert, having a delicious, relaxing meal seemed the perfect end of the day.
Horrible - we had a reservation, were seated late, and were asked to leave "because the line was out the door" after only an hour at the table. Bad experience from beginning to end, and all for 20+ dollar eggs.
We had another perfect Saturday dinner at Bar Boulud and we will be back again this Saturday. This should speak for itself :-)
The service and the food were extraordinary. Best Coq Au Vin in New York!
The ambiance is so so, nothing like Boulud Sud.
We have dined here many times before but it had been a few years since the last visit.
We ordered our previous favorites- charcuterie platter & cheese plate(as good as we remembered), boudin blanc(heavenly as always!), and floating island. The dessert was the only disappointing dish- although the cream was delicious and the texture fluffy & light, the island was overly sweet with a crumbly topping that was chewy and seemed stale.
The service was attentive and we never felt rushed.
The Croque Monsieur was dry and pretty tasteless. The wine list by the glass was limited.
The staff was very good and helpful.
We were there on a Thursday night at a very busy time so it was quite noisy and very chaotic (many people rushing back and forth to the kitchen constantly).
Maybe lunch would be calmer.
Located right across the street from Lincoln Center makes Bar Boulud a perfect destination for pre or post LCT performances. The restaurant is crowded and noisy at those times and service is just ok. But the food is good (many choices on the menu) and so is the value.
Wonderful menu especially pates and French entrees and attentive service.
This place is a disaster. The food is underwhelming, at best. One of the items should have been sent back to the kitchen, but instead it just went untouched. The server was polite enough but started to rush my party after 30 minutes at the table. I'm sorry, but for those prices I would like to sit and enjoy my meal - which I had no problem telling him. That being said, the biggest offense was the front of the house. I can only assume the woman in question is Daniel Boulud's daughter, because there is no other reason a business should tolerate someone that rude, condescending and incompetent. To be honest I should have walked out after the first interaction, but against my better judgment, I proceeded with my reservation.
This was my 3rd and final time dining at Bar Boulud. If I am going to spend my money at a "fine dining" establishment, there are about 100 others around NYC that I would choose over that mess.
Let our server know we were headed to the Opera right acrosss the street and ordered from the prix fixe menu. Perfectly timed and didn’t feel rushed. Very tasty. Highly recommend the endive salad. People sitting out on the patio under heaters in February!
Good service. Great mushroom soup. Interesting wines by the glass. Good price fix menu and value.
We were three friends having a Saturday pre-Lincoln Center event lunch/brunch. A first time for two of us; third time for the third. Almost everything was perfect for what we had expected and hoped for—ambiance, selection, prices, service, and almost all our dishes. The big successes were PEEKYTOE CRAB & AVOCADO TARTINE, MOULES AU POULETTE, and CHICKEN LIVER TERRINE, all heavenly. The only failure was the CROQUE MONSIEUR, which seemed to have been sitting out too long. The top had hardened and the bread was difficult to cut through. Also, the balance of cheese to ham seemed off—too much ham and not enough cheese. All that said, when later for dinner, I reheated the half sandwich I'd brought home with me, everything softened and melted and was absolutely delicious. The problem at the restaurant had been that the croquet monsieur wasn't served fast enough. I'd order it again, but I'd insist on out-of-the-oven delivery. We loved the place!
This is a must when going to the opera. Not only is the food great but they get you in and out for the opera without feeling rushed. Bravo!!!
OUr regular neighborhood spot.
Wonderful menu and delicious food. Service was excellent and topped off by a surprise birthday dessert! While A fun and lively atmosphere, the noise level is pretty higher.
Service has deteriorated and food was average. We had not been back for a long time as we prefer Boulud Sud and thought we would try it again. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment.
Food, wine and service very good. Ambiance and noise level a downer.
Delicious food and wonderful, attentive service. One of the few restaurants where you can actually have a conversation without yelling. So nice.
Vero good option on the neighborhood. We liked our meal very much. The waiters could be more friendly thou.
Booked a reservation here when looking for a good Restaurant pre opera meal. Came highly recommended. When we walked up to the restaurant we honestly thought it wasn’t going to be more than a mediocre meal based on judging a book by its cover. We were wrong. We were very pleasantly surprised. The food was absolutely delicious, the wait staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating & the young sommelier was my favorite. Extremely knowledgeable and really got into explaining the differences from our narrowed down wine choices and helped us pick a really yummy Chateauneuf-du-pape. We would definitely recommend this place as an excellent pre theater restaurant.
We had an outstanding prix fixe lunch on the sidewalk during an exceptionally warm February afternoon. Food and wine were both delicious and we eagerly anticipate our return.
Amazing skate fish! Was ridiculously tasty! :)
A thoroughly delicious meal in very pleasant surroundings. Our previous meal at Bar Boulud was under the aegis of the late night menu, which is rather limited and disappointing. (A terrible hamburger, drowning in its own excess.) The regular menu is another story. The pâtés were superb, and both the coq au vin and the cassoulet were delicious. We're definitely returning--but not after 11:00 PM.
Granddaughter’s 19 th Birthday. We were treated fabulously. Can’t say enough good things about the food and service!
Great place for post opera meal. I had the duck, it was fantastic. Service was great, friendly staff and very helpful.
