What Insiders Are Saying
Daniel Boulud's "casual bistro" Bar Boulud is one of the best places to eat near Lincoln Square.
I always have a meal here after attending a performance at Lincoln Center. It is the perfect place. The food is very good, the ambiance festive, and the service excellent. It's a bit pricey, but worth it. Have been coming here for years and it has always maintained the same good quality while growing in popularity. Bravo!
Food was God’s but with almost no option for vegetarian!!! We seat outside and it is Noisy
1. Phenominal service!!!!!
2. Quiet place for lunch.
3. My friend had a beautiful birthday mousse, candle and all.
We were very pleased with that.
4. The corn soup was wonderful.
1. Very disappointed in the burger...not seasoned at all. Also, both were undercooked...yes, we could have sent them back, but wise people NEVER send anything back.
1b. The plate was 2/3 filled with fries...lots of filler.
2. We had the Express lunch...no wine, no cocktails, just coffee, which was not part of the lunch, get ready...GRAND TOTAL $136!!!!!!!.
I didn't pay attention to the check because it was a special birthday ; shame on me. However, when I finally got home, I was shocked.
So, what's the take away here...first, don't order the burgers, really don't. Second, it's quite a lovely place to go to impress someone, but the food needs a lot of help.
Lastly, check the bill...enough said.
The service was not very good. We waited about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table and we had to ask several times for a waiter. The service was disappointing, but the food was good.
I recc. Bar Boulud to all my frends and have introduced many if them to your restaurant, for which they are grateful. The service ad cheerfulness are the best. The noise level (at least at lunch) is such a pleasure. If I had ne suggestion it would be ti vary the menu more often. Since I come to BB so often, I run out of options
Birthday celebration for my niece
Great food, great service!
Meal was unremarkable. Salmon over-cooked. Wine mark-up too large
Excellent Brunch. A varied menu. Food was delicious. I like the Brunch Menu more than the lunch and dinner menu. Service was excellent. There were 3 of us at brunch, and we were all raving about the entire experience. This will be my go to restaurant for Brunch. A GREAT find!!
Great place for a relaxed but delicious brunch before Sunday afternoon show at Lincoln Center. Excellent range of choices on the menu, and very good service.
Great food, service and ambiance!
Underrated brunch -- good selection, tasty as always, kid friendly.
Alwaysdelightful after a performance. Service was excellent, the sommelier delightful and helpful, and the food terrific.
Hot summer day and the a/c wasn’t working. Ugh. So we sat outside. Good overall. A little pricey. Diego our waiter was excellent. I’ll go back.
We have enjoyed Bar Boulud many times. Oddly, the air conditioning was not working well so the front windows were wide open, allowing a breeze (hot breeze) to waft through. Reception was up-front about the problem but we chose to stay regardless. So convenient to Lincoln Center!
I had a solo dinner before a ballet performance. Sat outside. Bar Boulud is my usual choice because of the service consistency and great food. The prix fixe menu was excellent. Best chilled soup ever! I also enjoy the wine options.
Love the host who remembered me. The outside terrace is always amazing in the summer. Everything was great from the food to wine to service. Favorite place
Hamburgers were excellent and all for guests agreed.
Delightful place for an outdoor supper before a Lincoln Center performance. Gracious service, very good food, nicely made drinks, and they understand curtain times and deliver everything promptly without feeling rushed.
Excellent salmon prepared medium and served by a very attentive wait staff [Stephanie].
Over priced for what you get. Expensive but no ambiance. 2 out of 3 of the entrees were weak. Wines by the glass were very expensive and were not of the quality to justify such high prices.
The service was very slow--at least 35 minutes between appetizers and
main course. As our friends were going to a 2 pm show, it was very
The perfect setting for a pre ballet matinee lunch!
Food never disappoints. The salmon salad with avocado was so filling, healthy and a generous portio. Of perfected prepared salmon.
Disappointed the menu did not include the usual choices of omelette and that the waiter was beyond in accommodating in trying to suggest alternatives. Unlike most waiters, he failed to entertain questions adequately and was not always present when needed,
The Madeline’s are a must st the end of a fabulous meal!
We will go back to Bar Boulud at some point in the future, but it won’t be a go to in this area. We had the French onion soup and it was delicious, but tiny for $15. We both ordered burgers, although two different styles. And we both asked for medium and they came out done well. We did tell the server who was very gracious and asked if we’d like to send them back. We didn’t because the food was very slow in coming out and we had theatre tickets. In the end, she brought us a delicious dessert on the house which we found to be a sweet gesture.
Always perfect, always true, and always warmly welcomed.
Absolutely stellar wine selection, knowledgeable staff and bright atmosphere.
Had fabulous oysters. The waiter sent a dozen instead of half, so he did t charge us for the extra 6. Sent an extra dessert to “make up for their mistake” meal was absolutely fantastic, and perfectly timed. Really great dining experience
A truly wonderful bit of France on Broadway. Whatever we choose is always excellent!
The food and service were deeply disappointing. Three out of 4 of us ordered fish and it all arrived over cooked. We were too hungry and pressed for time to send it back but really, it was disgraceful for a place like Bar Boulud. To cap the evening we were over charged, although we caught the mistake and it was corrected.
Wonderful menu and wine list. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and recommended the perfect wine. However, when they got busy, he disappeared for a while. Yet, the dinner was delicious and I would definitely return.
I wish they would serve a prix fixe brunch or lunch on saturdays...
What a lovely place to go, especially around a visit to Lincoln Center. The service, food ambiance, etc were all wonderful!
We had a delightful lunch with just the right level of attentiveness. And, a surprise complimentary Birthday dessert. Wines are a bit pricey
It was so noisy you couldn't hear yourself think. Food was fine. Not so special for New York but good.
Recommended if you're not a budget - especially for wines.
Beautiful night for dinner outside, looking at Lincoln Center. Our server was outstanding, explaining all the specials and quickly responding to our requests. We have been here on a number of other occasions, but had never tried the hors D’Oeuvres or house-pickled vegetables. The 4 of us shared a selection of each, and they were great. Loved that selections from the prix fixed menu could be ordered a la carte. Ended dinner with my son’s favorite dessert, the delicious Tarte Basque.
Great flavors with reasonable proportions and good presentation. High quality restaurant needs to improve customer oriented service from waiters.
The service was the best thing about this restaurant. My boyfriend and I went in with differing expectations of the food. We both liked the food, but I think I’m less familiar with French food than I’d thought I was, so I didn’t enjoy it as much as my boyfriend did. We sat outside and the restaurant was pretty, but currently (June 2019) there’s scaffolding above the restaurant which took away from our nice view of Lincoln Center. I’d say it’s a 4.5/5, overall.
Great food, amazing food. Decor is a bit too minimalist which can make the space a bit cold. Table in booth was quiet, it would have been louder at non-booth tables.
