Overall, our experience was delightful; we were allowed to take our table early and had an extended Sunday lunch/brunch. The service was quite good, although the staff seemed stretched and thus slow to respond to drink refill requests. The French onion soup was very disappointing, quite bland, but we were not asked to pay for it. The homemade pasta dish was okay, but nothing special. The Lyonnaise salad was delicious as were the ricotta pancakes and the desserts. I would consider returning for pre-theater light meals.
We enjoyed a lovely anniversary brunch!
This has been a lincoln center favorite for years. On this visit it seemed somwhat chaotic and disorganized. The menu was not as varied and interesting as in the past. Many people were new, including the chef. The boudin blanc with mashed potatoes was good. The duck was disappointing- mostly potatoes, a couple of very tiny fig halves and a very small amount of fennel.
Fig vacherin was wonderful. Salad Nicoise was a disgrace.
As usual, all was as we expected. The oyster, steak tartar, pumpkin soup, were rich and delicious.
Fancy, full price and totally sophisticated. Great, friendly service. Great food. Inspired wines. Nothing bad to say about this spot.
We love Bar Boulud for any occasion, lunch or dinner . We like to take our adult grandchildren : the atmosphere is always pleasant , the service excellent and there are excellent dishes for everybody's taste. We have never been disappointed.
Perfect place for pre-opera dinner. Excellent food, perfect service and a low enough noise level to carry on a conversation.
Average food and service at above average(for the area) prices. I frequent DBBistro, which is far superior in quality, service and value.
It was a lovely place to start my birthday celebration. Food and service was wonderful and they took the time to give me a birthday dessert that was extra special.
The food & service are excellent but a lot pricier than we all expected.
Great location, and great food. Service is friendly, polite and efficient.
Delicious food (particularly the Tarte Flambee), good and fast service. Just right for lunch before a 1 p.m. matinee at Lincoln Center.
Birthday trip to NYC
Outstanding food and very good service. Thank you!
My friend was late. The stuff was courteous and understanding.
They tried to put us in a nasty table by the door when there were booths available ( that had couples in them) we asked to move twice, took a long time to get a drink and our order taken, the escargot were too oily and the much touted coq au vin sandwich .. was practically inedible, the chicken was so dry and overcooked and stringy with an odd color.. other than that we had a fine time!
Food was mixed- duck fig dish tasted ordinary. Appetizers and dessert was excellent. Wine also lovely. Nice ambiance. Very Good service.
Food and service was lovely as usual but tables are so close that the noise level interferes with conversation.
Wonderful from beginning to end. Impeccable service, the food spot on, French and so clean cooked. The big bottle service is amazing! The Coq au Vin best I ever had! This place is my new pre-Theatre favorite too!
Excellent service. Our sommelier was wonderful, fun, and informative. Food was delicious and we appreciated the bonus (and warm out of the oven) Madelines at the end of our meal.
So noisy that we could not hear each other.
Pasta dish was disappointing.
Service a bit slow, because of crowd, i guess.
We were never disappointed by Bar Boulud. Always highly recommended.
Charcuterie excellent. Service excellent. Value a bit lacking on other dishes. $25 steak tartare, chopped beef....nothing special. Boudin noir, dry, nice presentation, $26 one average link? Value is quality and price, I'm happy to pay for good; this fell a bit short.
From the moment you walk in, the staff at Bar Boulud knows service, and you can tell. From the delightful hostess, to each member of staff that helped my partner and I celebrate our anniversary before the opera, it was truly a fine experience. Our waiter was knowledgeable, personable and polite. Each manager that came and checked on us was professional and sincere. And the food, from the charcuterie through to the thoughtful dessert was truly excellent. I recommend Bar Boulud without hesitation.
Very short menu I expected a more interesting experience
Nice spot to get a bite before performance at Lincoln Center.
Food was excellent. I would definitely go there again.
Any Boulud is consistently good but, good grief $7.50 for an iced tea!! And $7 for a latte!! Never liked being taken advantage of and that’s how I ended up feeling despite any positives. Fix this please.
Bar Boulud is my “go-to” place for before and after the Met or NY Phil. The boudin blanc has been a staple on the menu for ten years or more and is simply wonderful. The only thing keeping us from eating here more often is the fact that we live in St. Louis.
Bar Boulud never disappoints. Terrific food, always consistent. Great service. Good wine list.
A major UWS staple.
Usual delicious food. A little pricey. Service was attentive. It was a cool evening and we had to move tables. We asked them to close the door but they didn’t comply! Overall very good food
Loved the charcuterie board. The wine was expensive but good, 75.00 bottle of Cote d Rhône . I loved my white sausage mit kartoffel and the others said the cow d’van was delicious.
A nice evening!
It’s a great location for a pre-show dinner. And on a late September night with a fair weather, we chose to dine al fresco, with a busy traffic on the street we’re still able to hold a decent conversation.
The Coq Au Vin with Beaujolais and Kronenbourg were delightful and so as the wait staff.
I’d like to visit again.
Maybe. I regularly book Bar Boulud when attending opera and ballet. I always request a booth and confirm same day. This time the
gentleman upfront said there were none available when there clearly were at least two available. He said they were set for four and would only seat me at a two. Now service was poor. After drinks at last arrived. Someone came over to offer us one of the booths because of no shows. Finally I got the wrong main course. Not a good outing.
My major complaint was the uncooked pasta! No al dense pasta was ever so hard
Excellent lunch. A few more choices might be useful. Wine by the glass a touch expensive. Staff very polite and helpful. Enjoyed it very much!
We’ve been there on numerous occasions and always bee satisfied. In fact, most of our meal was quite good however a special of fresh pasta with a pork ragu was so bad that I wonder who is watching the food. The server indicated that the fresh pasta had run out and it was being replaced with an orciette which was ok with me. The sauce on the pasta was not a ragu at all. It was cubed pork in a Demi glacé. Not at all what was expected. It was terrible
Service was very slow even though it was not crowded. The Moules were completely devoid of flavor - needed much more garlic and onions. Our friends fish and coq au vin sandwich were not to their liking, and my coq au vin was very salty. All very disappointing. Chicken liver mousse was good.
The meals were excellent. Service was fine. Hostess took a long time to show up (the buzz boy had to go to look for her).
